What fine specifically? For leaving your primary residence? 🤔
How much is the penalty for an infraction like that?

Not trying to be provocative, I'm genuinely asking what the fine formulation would look like and on what grounds it would even be issued.

Look, here’s how it plays out: You hop in your car, pull up to a police checkpoint, and realize you don't have the right permit. They tell you you can't pass. From there, it’s entirely up to you how you react, and you'll be held accountable for whatever choice you make and the consequences that follow.
Amanda Hughes37 said:The local gas station outside my town handles all the e-cig liquid supplies. I ordered some online, but it didn't show up when promised—the one just 2.5 miles from my place... so now what? Just go around bothering people to buy stuff for you?

Maybe try walking instead of driving.
Olivia Williams2 said:I don't think they'll be able to sustain these "measures" for much longer. I suspect people are going to start waking up more and more every single day.

Oh, absolutely, and they know it too. Just look at how they used to constantly threaten us with harsher restrictions, and now suddenly they’re always talking about easing things up... obviously, they aren't going to pull the plug immediately, but their rhetoric has definitely shifted.

Of course you can.
electricbadger89 said:My mom and grandma are staying with me outside of Washington, D.C. because their apartment isn't safe to live in after the earthquake. My mom actually asked a police officer what would happen if she moved back to her permanent residence, and the officer told her she’d have to go into a two-week self-isolation

What a possible? That sounds completely insane to me
If she was just staying with family, and none of us are in quarantine, sick, or coming from some high-risk area—meaning she didn't fly in from another country or anything—then why on earth would there be any isolation?

Honestly, the woman is just talking nonsense. She can head back to her home without any issues at all.
Joshua Gray75 said:I find myself wondering—and I’d love to hear what the rest of you think on this—what exactly drives people to pull the trigger? It isn't just about the impulse... there seems to be something deeper, something more complex behind that split-second decision to resort to violence. Why does it happen?
Well, why don't you just go ahead and ask them... there are plenty of comments right there in the article—I read through them myself, after all—so just ask them why they’re losing it...
I was reading through some reports regarding the upcoming June developments—specifically those concerning the priority shifts within the local government—and it really makes you wonder about the direction we're heading... There seems to be a significant push from the administration to reorganize certain regional priorities, much like how federal agencies might shift focus during a transition period. It’s one of those situations where the bureaucracy moves at its own pace, regardless of what the public actually needs on the ground. You see these high-level discussions in Washington, D.C., and they trickle down until they hit the local county level, often losing all their original intent along the way. It feels a bit like watching a slow-motion collision between policy and reality. One moment everything is supposedly under control, and the next, the entire framework is being restructured under the guise of "optimization." It’s quite a delicate dance, isn't it? One can only hope that the actual impact on everyday citizens isn't as disruptive as the paperwork suggests... though, based on past experience, optimism might be a bit misplaced.

But actually, what I really wanted to write was this: that whole statement about a "quarantine until June"—or however Capak phrased it—feels to me like nothing more than a series of "test balloons"...
Once the restrictions start to ease up—likely well before the middle of May—and Capak becomes the hero we’ll all be cheering for from our balconies...
We would be grateful.🙏

I've seen this play out more times than I can count—but clearly, it still works. It’s that classic "carrot and stick" approach... effective, if nothing else.
Most times, a quick fix just isn't enough to spark lasting change in people—not when you're trying to cultivate genuinely positive attitudes toward their work, their daily routines... or really anything else, for that matter.
But for some reason—it seems to have left its mark on our national mentality...
But then again, I’m certainly no sociologist... let them deal with that side of things.

Finally, someone making sense.

Are we looking at the whole month of April, maybe stretching into May?

I honestly think they’ll scrap this first one because it’s completely useless. It’s just putting an unnecessary strain on the police and the FEMA emergency response teams... if I had to guess, it'll be gone by the end of April at the latest.
jadesurfer552 said:Do they actually have high-tech sensors to spot "unwanted" groceries, or are security guards just getting uncomfortably close to customers to check their bags?

Also, is the police department planning to roll out some kind of software to enforce this, or are we looking at random stops just to force people to socialize?

Honestly, I think it’s all about that close contact... the whole goal seems to be stopping people from just wandering around aimlessly. Besides, even in China, they used to limit shopping to maybe twice a week. People were handed these specific cards that they had to show at the store entrance to get in. Given how things have been going lately with our own leadership, nothing would really surprise me at this point.
lonehawk5 said:Look, walking by yourself isn't banned or anything. It's just... they're recommending you stay inside as much as possible.
But all those other rules, like gathering in groups and stuff? Those are still very much in play.

For now.

I was reading today about how in some country they’re actually checking people's shopping bags to see exactly what you bought at the grocery store or the pharmacy.

I’ve got a question for those of you following along who actually know the rulebook inside and out:
Looking back at today's race, where it was basically a dogfight in the top ten to decide the winner—at what exact moment is the finish line officially crossed? Is it when a foot hits the line, when the head crosses, or does the whole body have to clear it?

mistyotter35 said:I suppose you should really try to stick to images that aren't larger than 640x640, because they tend to stretch out the forum page quite awkwardly. If they happen to be bigger than that, maybe just leave the direct link instead.

But how am I supposed to resize them?
I need a step-by-step breakdown here—like, give it to me slow. I’m looking for an explanation as clear as the one jadetrucker43 gave me when they showed me how to upload stuff. So, 😘
thanks for the help!

So, I’m running into this incredibly annoying issue where every single time I try to upload a photo from my computer, I get hit with this error message saying it "Exceeds Reddit quota by 27.02 MB." It’s honestly such a headache. I’ve checked the file size, and while it’s definitely not massive, apparently, it's just enough to trigger this constant roadblock. Has anyone else dealt with this specific limit lately, or is it just me getting stuck at the finish line every time? 😕

Does that mean the image file size is too big?

I’ve just finished scrolling through the last few pages of this thread, and honestly, I’m completely lost. 😕
Since I'm definitely not some tech wizard, I would be incredibly grateful if someone kind enough could walk me through this step-by-step in plain English. How on earth do I fix this insanely stretched-out forum page? 🙂
For what it's worth, I'm using Chrome, if that makes any difference at all. 🤷

Tyler Kern57 said:Look, the only way to figure it out is to go back and read his last few posts. Find the specific one that got him flagged, then click on the warning notification—assuming they haven't scrubbed the post already—and it'll tell you exactly why he was banned. That's really the only way to know...

I already tried looking, but I don't see any strike or any sign of insults or anything that would justify such a long-term ban. It’s pretty likely the post was just deleted by the mods...
Man, now I'm actually curious 😁

I honestly thought this was going to be way more straightforward than it actually is. 😢

But hey, whatever. I’m going to dedicate my entire afternoon to wrestling with this until I finally get it right. If I don't, then I don't. Either way, thanks for the help 🙂

I'm honestly still a bit lost on what the next step is once I finish transferring a shot from my phone or digital camera over to my laptop... 😕
