Come on guys—just send them straight to Google or a dictionary... it’s giving me major Joy from Friends vibes, you know, when she first discovered how to use the Thesaurus in MSWord...😁

So instead of just saying: They are nice people with big hearts
our little hero actually wrote: They are astonishing homo sapiens with extremely large cardiovascular pumps...
Paul said:I work as a server at a local diner, and if I actually told a customer "I don't give a damn" when they asked how much longer their food would be, I could probably just pack my bags and walk out right then and there... I really don't see why doctors should be held to some different standard. Plenty of people have high-stress jobs, and while I'm happy to share my opinion on that, I don't take it out on the customers—I handle it differently, and if things get too overwhelming, I seek professional help, which is exactly what that doctor should be doing too...

👍

It honestly scares me when people hide behind excuses like having a "high-pressure job" to justify acting like this. From what I've seen, plenty of people deal with insane stress without treating everyone else like garbage...

It sounds like he might have some deeper issues going on. Maybe he's a total pushover at home with his wife, so he takes all that built-up frustration out on his patients instead... 🙂

Honestly, he should just go see a psychiatrist—it might actually give him a healthy way to vent all that stress...

Looks like she’s gone back to picking fights with the dictionary again somewhere... 😁

nah, not at all—I'm actually pretty soft-hearted, really...😁
Jeffrey Edwards5 said:If she had just told him, "You wouldn't even need that accreditation if you didn't have my junk," he'd probably sue her for defamation, right?

😁 👍

I really need to write this one down...
Betty Bennett10 said:Oh, come on... 😁 the guy is just stressed out and acting rude—it didn't come across as arrogance to me, just a total snap under pressure. I honestly think his brain is just fried from work and all the stress, and when people hit that breaking point, they react exactly like he did. I see stuff like that at my job almost every single day...

I don't get how you can't see the arrogance in the whole situation, Betty Bennett10...

It doesn't matter if he's the most brilliant expert in the world, if his bedside manner is nonexistent—to use his own style 😁

You find people like this everywhere in America...

but it's definitely not true for every doctor out there...

The last one who left me waiting for more than fifteen minutes, even though I had a scheduled appointment, is someone I'll never forget...

I kept my cool, but I told the receptionist that I was heading straight back to work since my appointment wasn't being honored, and that they could just mail me a bill for my lost time...

Don't be silly (I knew they wouldn't actually pay up, but it's the principle of the thing), I put together a formal invoice for the hour and a half I wasted—based on my actual hourly wage—and sent it right to his office and the American Academy of Family Physicians, since they log every complaint and everything is available online for patients to review...

I ended up getting an apology letter from him later and all that, but I never stepped foot in that office again... it's not like we're tending sheep together where he can just see me whenever he feels like it... 😁

If I'm polite enough to respect their schedule and show up on time, I really expect them to respect mine too...

And if you honestly think she’s just doing this for attention, it might be better to just stop acting like her friend instead of wasting her precious time...

If you actually want to help, then maybe help her find some real professional support.

I'm with you on this one...

Besides, a woman doesn't necessarily have schizophrenia—given everything she’s written about the war and those horrors she went through, it could easily be a severe case of PTSD, which is something quite treatable...

But for heaven's sake, please don't patronize her by acting like she's making it all up, or being lonely, or just being dramatic...

stormylinx14 said:Also, I honestly don't think you should judge things based on absolute quality of life—which is pretty much nonexistent when someone is seriously ill and heavily medicated—but rather look at the relative change... Like, what would that same person even be capable of doing if they weren't on all those drugs? One colleague I mentioned earlier wouldn't have even noticed a subway train heading straight toward them if it wasn't for the meds...

That’s such a great point...

honestly, you're just being dense...

stormylynx14 said:Oh, I see. Well, maybe you could share what you've actually gone through with the rest of us... I mean, there's always that chance where even the best doctors in the country can't fix everything, but does the fact that people still face things like cancer really make you want to skip seeing a doctor when you actually need help?...

Of course 👍

Chris Fox4 said:you honestly have no clue what you're talking about... you're only here trying to act superior because someone told you that you have a mild case of schizophrenia... man, I lived with a severely ill patient for twenty years, so don't try to lecture me on this... I really shouldn't have wasted my breath on this empty back-and-forth with some wannabe psycho

firstly—I never even said I had schizophrenia

I've dealt with PTSD and OCD

but that’s actually completely beside the point here

honestly, you should be ashamed of yourself for calling anyone a "wannabe psycho" when there are so many people out there truly struggling with mental illness

👎

just because you spent twenty years living with someone doesn't mean your uninformed, old-fashioned views on seeking professional help for mental health issues were actually helpful to them...

stormylynx14 said:By then, someone would have completely lost their grip and become a danger to themselves and everyone else... You can't fix acute psychosis, deep depression, or schizophrenia just by trying to convince a patient that what they’re seeing and hearing isn't real. Warm compresses don't work, and chamomile tea definitely isn't going to cut it when you need real therapy. Psychiatric medication is the only way forward, regardless of the side effects... I think Betty Rivera14 once started a thread, maybe titled "Help," where she talked about how a patient slowly recovers while under psychiatric care.

Exactly...

It honestly feels ridiculous when people start preaching about meditation and stuff like that for actual mental disorders...
they act like you can just snap out of it and realize you're struggling on your own...

you could try, but it’s pretty much impossible... 😢

that's really the scariest part of mental illness—you can't always tell when something is wrong... it's not like if you break your arm or hurt your leg and you just know it's happening...

Chris Fox4 said:I honestly don't know what you want me to say... look, if it worked for you, then fine, but it didn't work for someone else... and there's stuff I've dealt with that you'll never truly understand...

I really don't get it...

just please don't go around telling people that medical help is useless before they've even tried it...

and try not to judge things you haven't actually experienced firsthand...

Chris Fox4 said:Have you ever actually stepped foot in a psychiatric ward and seen what "quality of life" really looks like there? Have you ever looked at someone dealing with schizophrenia, completely drugged out and unresponsive? They’re basically walking ghosts... though maybe you have a point, I don't want to generalize too much, and I honestly don't have the energy to get into a whole debate about it...

But have you ever truly seen someone struggling with their mental health who just has absolutely no one to help them?

What does a life like that even look like...

I didn't deal with schizophrenia, but my struggles were still heavy enough that I felt like I was being buried alive in a glass coffin...

Life just keeps passing me by while I sit there unable to participate, screaming inside from all the frustration and pain, but nobody can hear me...

Please, don't try to tell me what it's like for people living with mental illness unless you've actually had to endure it yourself...

Chris Fox4 said:Look, this isn't really about me, it’s more about someone close to my heart... and I know firsthand what psychologists and psychiatrists can actually manage and where their limits are... advanced schizophrenia is such a heavy burden that doesn't just vanish overnight... honestly, I worry that a lot of these cases are just impossible to fully overcome

Well, nobody is claiming they're cured—but if you had checked out that thread about her Barbie doll

it would be pretty obvious that someone living with these struggles can still have a decent quality of life as long as they have medical supervision and the support of friends and family

Chris Fox4 said:Maybe you hit the jackpot with your psychiatrist, but my experience has been a whole different story... so just back off

Well, if that's the case, you should probably find a new one then...

because my psychologist honestly saved my life...

they're definitely more qualified to help than some random advice from Nikola Tesla...

Chris Fox4 said:To be totally honest, this isn't really my fight, so I'm not planning on arguing about who's right or wrong... people can do whatever they want... I was just sharing my own thoughts and what I've been through...

I'm completely with you on that...

I'm just calling out how ridiculous the OP is being...

Chris Fox4 said:I've dealt with schizophrenia before, and honestly, it’s such a devastating illness... it doesn't just tear down the person suffering, but it drags everyone close to them down too. This might sound harsh, but if you notice they aren't listening to you anymore, it might be best to step back before you get pulled under with them... meds can help for a little while, but without constant supervision, everything just spirals back. The real issue is that people with this condition don't trust anyone—which I'm sure you've already realized—but even that doesn't matter much since I don't believe there's an actual cure... it all comes down to authority. Basically, the patient needs to find some kind of anchor, whether it's someone they love deeply or someone they respect more than their own delusions... and that person then has to guide them. It's a heavy burden because they rarely let go of those beliefs, though they can manage to live somewhat normally... I'm not sure how far along her illness has progressed, but from what I can see, things look pretty grim, and if nothing changes, it’s only going to get worse

The woman really needs to be under a doctor's care and staying on her medication...

talking won't help at all—she'll just think you're making things up or feeding her nonsense

rustymoose54 said:Yeah, psychiatrists are just total idiots who end up doing more harm than good...

People struggling really need a steady hand and definitely shouldn't be forced onto medication. It’s all just a setup by paid puppets and traitors to make it easier for Big Pharma to control everyone...

🙄

Oh, rustymoose—I mean, who knows more about what's actually going on than someone like Nikola Tesla...

But honestly, people act like it's all made up, even though the woman isn't actually sick...

I know there are plenty of ignorant folks out there who think mental illness is just something people invent...

But I have to admit, those kinds of mindless outbursts still manage to get under my skin every once in a while...
