Something's up... anyone else? in Health ·
Angela Kelly said:The issue is she’s getting really attached to me, but I honestly just have way too much on my plate right now to be able to step in and help her as much as she needs...

And yeah... about those things she says... I've started telling her she's just imagining things and needs to fight through it, which came out a bit more aggressive than I intended, I guess... neither I nor the doctors really know what to make of it all...
I tried suggesting she see a psychiatrist, thinking they might actually understand those "forces" she feels are controlling her...
I'm really just hoping she can find some kind of therapy that actually works...

Then maybe you should do her a favor and just give her some space, please...

Approaching it with that mindset isn't going to help her one bit...

I am so sick of people stuck on this whole "tough love" nonsense...

Honestly, you guys are being so backwards about this...

Like, sure, a psychiatrist won't fix anything, but YOU'll surely solve it by giving her a few slaps to "snap her out of it"...

What an idiot... 👎

It’s honestly pretty sad how people still talk about mental health as if it’s just being "crazy"...
👎

your friend sounds like she might be dealing with paranoid schizophrenia

maybe see if there's any way you can help her out...

Jeffrey Edwards5 said:so what was Kiki up to?
is that why she's so well-endowed 😁?

not really...

I guess even someone with a great build like Kiki needs to go in for some regular Colonic irrigation now and then to keep things running smoothly...

😁

shadowraven96 said:Yeah, totally, my sister actually had to get some kind of colon cleansing done a few years back because she was dealing with some pretty bad constipation for a while...
it wasn't even about looking good or anything, since she was basically just a kid at the time...

that's a completely different situation from what Kiki did

that's more like an enema, or what Kenneth Hernandez67 calls Colonic irrigation...

I mean, you hear about these actresses drinking their own urine for some kind of beauty ritual, and honestly... it’s just wild

Please don't tell me people actually think this is normal

Some folks seriously have way too much time on their hands 😁

And then you've got others who are more than happy to charge a fortune for such nonsense

Not to mention how dangerous it can get if someone tries to perform these things "professionally"

The intestines are incredibly sensitive, and you could end up with a perforation—something that's hard to detect early on and could really wreck your health

Just be grateful you're healthy and stop making up these crazy trends

Jeffrey Edwards5 said:I don't know... I honestly don't get how anything can just "get stuck" or "dry up" inside your intestines.
it sounds kind of...

nothing's impossible, I guess...

if your digestion is working fine, there isn't really anything that can just stay lodged in there...

the proof is right there when you have a colonoscopy and they give you that prep powder to clear everything out...

once you see those colonoscopy photos, it’s obvious everything is crystal clear—I saw the shots from my sister's procedure and her intestines looked perfectly healthy, just that normal light pink color you'd expect from any mucous membrane...

and she didn't even do any of those crazy colonic irrigations or whatever else people try...

it's wild what some people actually swallow, I truly can't believe it... 🙄 😁

Noah Harris50 said:Yeah, there's definitely an aesthetic side to colonic irrigation...

And honestly, it’s just as effective at smoothing things out as any cellulite treatment besides liposuction would be... 😁 😁

Noah Harris50 said:It’s kind of weird that they do that in hospitals then... maybe they don't really know what they're doing there.

Honestly, you'd be surprised by how much of that stuff you actually run into in hospital settings...

not everything that glitters is gold...😉

Colon cleansing—man, this world has seriously lost its mind 😲

The gut has such a delicate balance of bacteria and all those other little microbes—I'm no doctor or anything, but generally speaking—and doing these cleanses might just mess up your whole digestive system

And trust me on this, you really don't want to go down that road

Just ask anyone living with colitis or Crohn’s disease, who knows how much it sucks when your gut isn't working right... one big reason is exactly this destruction of the "good" bacteria

So, why is everyone so obsessed with this?

What are you guys even eating that makes you feel like you need to do this to yourselves...

Oh, hush now—you can clearly see I'm doing everything in my power to avoid getting that shot...😁

Flu season is definitely hitting us hard right now

I decided to skip the shot this year—I’ve always had a massive phobia of needles, so there's that... 😲 which basically means I'm running for the hills if anyone shows even a hint of symptoms

I make it a point never to head into the office if I'm feeling anything remotely contagious

Besides, those vaccines only target one specific strain, and even then, they aren't exactly a hundred percent guarantee

So, I figured there was no point in getting poked for nothing

My partner did get vaccinated, though, mostly because we both dealt with a nasty three-week bug last year that just absolutely wrecked us...

Just make sure you stay hydrated, because one year I ended up with kidney issues that were close to being a real emergency

rustymoose54 said:Come on, don't overstate it... if you knew at 22 that you were going to have fertility issues, you would've done this or that or whatever else you're thinking about right now... maybe...

That’s what people mean when they say, "If only I had been smarter back then..." though honestly, life wouldn't even be mine anymore if I'd made different choices...

I feel like some women might be unhappy because they spent their 20s "checking all the boxes," and now seeing pregnant women just hits a nerve... but even if that weren't the case, they'd probably just find something else to be frustrated by, like seeing other women killing it in their careers...

whatever

There's an old saying for that kind of hindsight: If they actually had the guts, they wouldn't be sitting there talking about it... 😁

I’m not sure how things work back home, but here in the States, trying to prove a doctor made a wrong diagnosis or was actually negligent is just such an uphill battle...

My mother-in-law ended up needing a total hip replacement because of a botched diagnosis and the wrong treatment plan, and honestly, we've gotten absolutely nowhere with it 😠

She even went to see some lawyers just to get some advice—it wasn't even about the money, she just wanted to hold them accountable and make sure there was a formal record of the negligence, you know, so it stays on their permanent disciplinary file for the public to see... but still, nothing happened

😠

If it’s actually true that women need to have their first baby before thirty—especially for their own health—then I am officially spiraling. I turn thirty in just a month (yikes, even saying that out loud feels heavy...), and apparently, that window is supposedly closing for me. If that’s really how it works... I just hope it won't be too late if I wait a bit longer....

I honestly haven't heard a single thing about that rule before 😕

Noah Myers8 said:electricdriver78, I honestly find it so wild that I'm developing allergies at 27... there was always pet hair around before and I was totally fine, so I just don't get it...

how did you figure out that walnuts were actually the culprit?

well, all my allergies started popping up when I was around 22 or 23—actually, it was right during that first summer after I moved to Canada

allergies can pretty much show up whenever they feel like it

I realized it was the walnuts because I was making this cherry and walnut pastry, and I had some leftover walnuts to snack on, and suddenly I started getting these little blisters on my tongue, and I had no idea what was causing it...

but then over the next couple of days, every single time I ate a piece of that pastry, the exact same thing would happen

so I tried eating just cherries by themselves and nothing happened, but then I tried plain walnuts and—boom—blisters again...

now I've just completely given up on walnuts altogether... 😢

allergy tests aren't actually injections, at least not how they do them here in the States

they just use this tiny little lancet to make small scratches on your forearm, I ended up with about 18 on each arm since each scratch is for a different allergen, and then they drop a bit of the irritant onto each spot and check for a reaction after ten minutes or so so you know exactly what's triggering you

my eyes have been acting up all summer long... and I can't even take antihistamines because of how they react with my other medications, so I just rely on Allegra whenever it actually works, but if it doesn't, well, I guess that's just life

just try not to rub them, because that usually makes the irritation even worse

maybe give the new Allegra Allergy a shot, it seems a bit stronger

allergies tend to hit you out of nowhere most of the time

I actually found out just last weekend that I'm allergic to walnuts😢 and I've never had an issue with them before in my life

as far as environmental allergies go, I can't stand common grass😕, maple, ragweed, jasmine, and house dust... I think testing for ragweed is kind of silly, like nobody actually wants to be around it anyway, so why bother

darkviper5 said:Yeah, you're right, electricdriver78, thanks for clearing that up...
it isn't just about spotting soft tissue issues, but rather all kinds of anomalies, including bones too...
I'm sure they have this technology available here in the States as well, it's just a question of whether insurance covers it, because around here they usually only authorize it for "special" cases...😢

:

See, I didn't realize they used it for bones—because over here, if there's a suspicion of a bone issue, they typically send people for a bone scan instead...

It takes a bit longer than an MRI if you're doing the whole body, but the concept is pretty much the same...

I honestly don't have much of anything smart to add here...

but just hang in there 🙂
...
darkviper5, based on what you said, an MRI—or Magnetic Resonance Imaging—is basically used to spot all kinds of soft tissue issues

like if you’ve got a torn tendon or maybe some nerve impingement...

I think we should definitely have access to that kind of tech here in the States too, since I actually had a similar scan done back in the day when I was visiting Chicago about 20 years ago...

I know this because I've been there myself...
So, what the private doctor mentioned actually makes a lot of sense.
The thing is, you can't just throw medication at someone that easily, and you certainly can't get to the heart of the problem or nail down a diagnosis after just one or two sessions.
It’s all such sensitive stuff...
I really hope things keep looking up for you with this therapy and that you manage to work through whatever you're facing.
Try to find a doctor you actually connect with, someone you can trust, and make sure you're getting regular check-ins on how you're doing.
Wishing you the best!

That's true...

In my case, they didn't even start me on medication until I'd done six months of psychotherapy, since they had to be absolutely certain about what was happening and what was driving my anxiety first...

They only prescribed medication once they were completely sure about the PTSD diagnosis.
