Man, my mom used to take Bimolin for herpes back when we were living in Boston, but they stopped making it ages ago... if anyone knows what it’s called now, I’d be so grateful, because I really want to ask my aunt to mail me a few boxes...
Anyway, my mom rushed to send me some Abreva cream from the States—it’s this tiny little tube, super miniature, maybe like $15 USD, but honestly, after just three applications yesterday, it’s almost all gone...
This one inside my nose was actually way more painful than any lip outbreak I've ever dealt with before...
Back in the spring of '95 in Washington, D.C., I had an outbreak that spread from my lip, across my nose, down my cheek, and right up to the edge of my eye...
The doctor who saw me just brushed it off, saying, "Oh, this is just from stress," mostly because I had moved away from Boston about five months prior...
And I just looked at her like, "Doctor, I was under way more stress when shells were whistling over my head during the war, and I didn't have herpes constantly then..."
She told me that our immune system is kind of like frozen vegetables—when you're in danger, everything stays hard and rigid like ice, but once the threat passes, it all just thaws out and leaves us completely vulnerable to viruses...
My psychologist here in the USA actually told me the exact same thing...
Hannah Davis18 said:It’s not even available here in the States, but since you're living in the US, you probably have a better shot than I do...🙂
I actually get mine from Switzerland, and honestly, it works so well because it clears things up right away, unlike all that talk about trying to predict when an outbreak will hit.
I just wake up in the morning with it, even when there wasn't a single warning sign the night before...
Yeah, it's always something—stress, a weak immune system, the changing seasons, or traveling... for me, it's always one of those things, and this is really the only thing that helps me clear it up fast.
I think I'll head over to the pharmacy around noon and ask them about it...
That's exactly how it happened for me too, just waking up with it suddenly, since you never really know when it's coming...
Hannah Davis18 said:Asking at the pharmacy for Hima-paste should work pretty fast...
The manufacturer is Mundipharma.
Thanks, Hannah Davis18—I'll ask about it, though I doubt they carry it here...
I'm feeling a little better today, but my nose is still really tender to the touch 😢
It usually just flares up whenever things get a bit more stressful...
briskeagle38 said:Anyway, I'm gonna head out now to go get those things taken care of... hope you have a good afternoon... 😁
It’ll probably turn out alright, just keep your fingers crossed for me...
Anyway, good luck, girl... I'll be rooting for you...
👍
briskeagle38 said:Margie, please tell me you aren't still rubbing that stuff on your nose... 😁
Honestly, besides using that cream, it might be a good idea to take some B-Complex for a few days... it helps things clear up faster, at least it did for me... 🙂
man, this guy hasn't even used it once unless he's just... well, you know...
Yeah, you're totally right about the B-Complex...
How are the teeth doing?
Drew Young10 said:What does that herpes actually look like...
I noticed this little bump popped up on my penis... at first I just figured it was an acne spot, but since it didn't clear up after a couple of days, now I'm starting to wonder what it actually is. It feels okay now—not fully gone yet, but at least it doesn't hurt when we're having sex anymore...
I'm wondering if I might have herpes...
Nah, don't even worry about it... it’ll probably just brush right off you...
I've got one popping up right inside my nostril, just at the opening, and the pain is honestly driving me crazy...
It actually feels way worse than when I get them on my lip
I've been trying this Viractin ointment, but it isn't really doing much to help...
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get rid of this as fast as possible?
Amy Fox97 said:Just move on and find someone who doesn't smoke... 👍
Good grief, people can be such a headache sometimes... 🙄
Alex Foster6 said:Man, I could really use some help with that 👍
I might give it a shot... though I think I'll need someone to walk me through it until I get the hang of things, unless I just record myself
When I first started, my therapist actually guided me through it and then gave me a recording of his own voice so I could just practice at home on my own...
Alex Foster6 said:I don't know... I still lean towards thinking it's just a relaxation technique that isn't dangerous, unless someone is dealing with psychosis or something like that (which I'm certainly not, as far as I know 😁)...
I've come across descriptions of it in several different books and figured out it isn't some mystical ritual where you need a special initiation or anything... it's just a medically recognized way to relax.
And what about progressive muscle relaxation? I read about that in books too... where you tense up specific muscle groups and then release them, working your way through the whole body...
I actually used progressive muscle relaxation as part of my own therapy once...\\
When you pair it with proper breathing, it really helps dial down that feeling of anxiety—it definitely worked for me...
Richard Murphy6 said:The link works fine, just like any other one, but I honestly don't see how it relates to those silly ideas from Gruden...
Maybe shadowfalcon33 could clear things up a bit, since apparently Gruden doesn't have a clue and is just coasting along, so they can defend themselves from all this mess...
And besides, nobody has even told me what that guy's name was from Hurricane Ridge, so you can see how helpful everyone is being here...
Forget about Hurricane Ridge... 😁
The guy's name is Heathcliff...
👋
I actually picked up my meditation video last week
so I've only been doing yoga for three days now—not really a morning person yet—but I'm honestly loving it so far...
it’s so encouraging to hear from those of you who have been at this much longer, and I really hope I can stay this consistent too...
👍
Amy Fox97 said:That isn't going to work for you.👎
Your situation is actually way more complicated than that...
Just come talk to me and I'll help you out...😁
but honestly, there's just no helping you at this point...
I mean, why are you so obsessed with Henry Wilson48 and constantly chasing them down like this...
Sherry said:Hey, where did you order that from? Is there a general shop I can find it in? 🙄
I have a few books lying around, but honestly, it's just so hard to actually get moving using only those...
So let me know if you can help me out...
Well, I originally picked up some Pilates gear from a local shop and they were wonderful with all the instructions and everything...
But then I stumbled onto their website and ended up ordering a meditation video, plus one for lower body Tai Chi and another for upper body Tai Chi—all beginner stuff, of course... 😁
Here is the link for you Gaiam
Henry Wilson48 said:After I recently got laid off from my job—which I actually posted about on this subforum a while back—I really needed a way to find some peace, whether through medication or meditation. I ended up downloading this deep relaxation meditation online; it’s just some light music and a guide who walks you through breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation. There isn't any heavy philosophy involved—and I've done similar things before, either on my own, using a Yogi app, or following along with Yoga Nidra...
But this one is honestly fantastic—you can always carve out 15 minutes for it, whereas Yoga Nidra usually takes about 45, which can be hard to find in a busy schedule—the instructor is so soothing, and the music is lovely...
So now I've started meditating every single morning before even getting out of bed, and then I'll do it again during the day instead of just scrolling through my phone or watching TV, plus I've added some Pilates and Tibetan stretches in the morning. It’s such a wonderful, calm way to start the day, totally different from just stumbling around the house... Plus, jumping straight out of bed too fast used to leave me feeling totally frazzled, so this gives me a chance to collect myself, unwind, and wake up feeling steady and ready for whatever comes next...
😲 😲 😲
IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
That sounds wonderful!
I'm just sitting here waiting for my meditation tapes and Tai Chi videos to arrive in the mail...
I can't wait... 🙂
Casey Palmer5 said:It’s mostly Ultraviolet A rays, with just a tiny bit of UVB...
Basically, UVB is what gives you a burn—which actually happens way more often when you're outside than in a tanning bed—while UVA is what causes tanning, though it's also linked to melanoma.
You really have to be careful with tanning beds. I go maybe a few times a year, no more than four or five sessions for about ten minutes each, just because I haven't been out in the actual sun for years. Ever since I was born, the sun and I just haven't gotten along. The worst part isn't even a rash; it's this sensation where it feels like thousands of tiny needles are pricking my entire body at once. If you haven't felt it, you wouldn't understand. No cream helps at all, so it just means being in agony and feeling totally mentally drained for four or five days... rubbing ice on it helps just a little bit by numbing the skin.
I'd love to figure out exactly what's happening to me and which specific rays are causing this reaction.
Oh Casey Palmer5, I totally feel for you...
My mom deals with the exact same sun allergy...
Except for her, it's just that intense itching from those "needles," and then you just have to sit there and wait for it to pass... 😢
I’m also a little confused about this whole "daylight" bulb thing; you guys are saying they aren't actually yellow, they're just labeled as "daylight"...
Back when we were working at our old office, we had those harsh fluorescent lights, and since my coworker and I both struggle with constant headaches, we ended up bringing in an ergonomics specialist... she suggested swapping out the fluorescents for these "daylight" bulbs, but honestly, you can totally tell they give off this yellowish glow, especially compared to the super bright white light we used to have in our workspace...
So, basically, this "daylight" setting is just a fancy way of saying it's yellow, right?...
rustymoose54 said:honestly, we’re all just a walking mess of bad decisions by nature, let's be real
😂
it's just that you've been totally burned by those people who constantly preach about positive thinking...
magic said:Is beer 😬
beer is actually good for you, since it's packed with B vitamins...😁
restlessmarlin6 said:I think I’m just feeling it because I’ve only just started taking my pill... maybe it’s because my job is such a non-stop rush where everything happens at once and I have to stay ten steps ahead of a thousand different tasks... When I take it right before work, that first hour or so is a bit tough because I feel so slow and relaxed—even though I actually feel great—but once that initial wave passes, things settle back down to normal..
It’ll probably level out after a while 🙂
could be
you'll see in a week or so
the main thing is that you're starting to feel better
👍
