I've been biting my nails for as long as I can remember, and now the skin around my cuticles is raised and flush with the nail bed instead of being underneath, making my hands look terrible. When I was a kid, I figured I'd just grow out of it, but it hasn't happened. It’s most embarrassing at work since I deal with people all day. I'd look for help, but honestly, going to a nail salon feels awkward. Just last week, I picked up some of that bitter liquid from the drugstore, so we'll see how that goes—so far, so good. I really want to know if it's actually possible for those deformed cuticles to go back to normal... has anyone actually pulled it off?....
Well, you could always try getting a gel overlay or even just using Trend polish. I think that would help too, since it makes your nails so tough you can't even bite or pick at them... plus, they look much better...😉
Yeah, you're right—I read somewhere that you shouldn't take that active ingredient alongside other meds, especially since it's based on St. John's Wort...
hollowtinker8 said:Sean Richardson9, is it actually okay to drink these teas if I'm already on antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds?
I read somewhere that St. John's Wort shouldn't be taken with antidepressants at all; though I don't really see why, since they're just plant-based teas...
The only thing is, I'm not sure if anything like that would even work for me anymore, since I've become so reliant on the prescription stuff 😎 ...
It's a bit of a balancing act... I can't just stay in bed all day doing nothing, but if I overdo it, I end up too exhausted to actually sleep...
And honestly, they say you get the best rest before midnight, but if I hit the sack at 10 PM, I'm wide awake by 2 AM. I guess 11:30 PM is my sweet spot.😎
I've been struggling with terrible insomnia for about five years now... I've tried all sorts of pills, but the only thing that actually worked for me—at least at first—was... Calixta...
I’m not dealing with depression, so I wonder if that's why they gave me this... maybe because it isn't as addictive as other things. I actually visited a sleep clinic recently and they prescribed Doxepin. I have it here at home, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet... just haven't found the right moment to take a break...
I'm actually pretty nervous about trying this... since I need to have a full day completely off all meds before starting something new. If the new one doesn't work out, I'd be in a massive crisis. I wouldn't sleep for days... and honestly, I don't know if I'd just pass out or end up losing my mind... 😠 👎
I tried Sanval, but I couldn't get a wink of sleep... it just left me feeling paralyzed and having these mild hallucinations...😲 It’s just brutal...
Xanax helped me out a bit, but only to help me drift off... It didn't really make the sleep last longer or improve the actual quality of it...
urbanmason10 said:I mean, should I take something to calm down? I have to work and everything... so I'm pretty wired... maybe a little Xanax or Paxil (though I have no idea why my doctor put me on Paxil!?). I'm trying not to overdo it, but honestly... damn it... sometimes you just have to push through. It's a shame—for the marriage, at least... but hey, there aren't many of us guys left, so demand is high... haha.😁 Also... what kind of "improvement" are we talking about? Like, becoming indifferent to everything, or...?
For daytime, Xanax is definitely the better call, especially if you're working. It’s basically designed for that... my doctor actually told me it's the only pill that's safe to take while driving!
Paxil just makes me way too drowsy; everything feels so sluggish...
Like I mentioned in another thread recently, everyone's sleep needs are different; it all comes down to how fast you move through the various sleep cycles. The most critical parts are stages 3 and 4—those deep sleep phases where your body actually gets its real rest.
Because of that, some people might get by on just 5 or 6 hours if they breeze through those stages quickly (though that’s pretty rare!), while others honestly need 10 hours or more...
No... it's been years since then. My parents moved out of the house and took me with them, and my grandmother passed away. My brothers finished up at some Ivy League schools, became successful in their careers, started families, and all that. My oldest brother actually took the Mensu test and scored a 148 IQ. My middle brother used to brag about even higher scores on various tests—his wife supposedly has an IQ of 160, my dad became a tenured professor, and his brother is an executive at a major corporation... ... meanwhile, I finished high school (with slightly better grades than before) and graduated from a less prestigious college. I even managed to pick up a few university awards, but the way they praised me made it pretty clear they were actually mocking me.
Good grief, if you aren't exaggerating and things really are the way you described... those people in your family could have an IQ of 200, but they're still just idiots🙄. It's sad how people like that can pass their complexes onto others, which is obviously happening here. Like someone else already mentioned, these tests only measure one specific type of intelligence that isn't even the most important thing in life; it's more like abstract reasoning.
For instance, I do pretty well on those kinds of tests, whereas some of my girlfriends don't get them at all—everything looks the same to them. But honestly, it doesn't have much of a connection to real life; they might actually navigate certain situations better than I do...
...I tried some kind of similar tablet once, I think it had guarana in it, but I'm not entirely sure... something meant for athletes... it definitely kept me wired for about three hours.
So you mentioned you don't drink coffee... but I actually just picked up some new Milka cappuccino; it doesn't even taste like coffee, more like hot chocolate; and it's pretty energizing too, honestly hits me harder than a regular cup!
hollowtinker8 said:Hey everyone. So, I’ve been on Xanax for about four years now—and honestly, my body has just gotten so used to it that I don't even feel it anymore, let alone get the same effect I used to. Because of that, I’m working with my psychiatrist to switch things up and try a different anxiolytic instead. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for something that doesn't come with a ton of nasty side effects, and right now I'm torn between trying Inderal or Paxil. 🤔 Thanks
Maybe give Doxepin a shot? It's technically an antidepressant, but it works as an anxiolytic too, so it might be a solid swap for Xanax...
And it isn't as addictive. At least, not nearly as much.
Man, I tried that for just a week at half my usual dose, and the dizziness was awful... felt like the ground was slipping away from me. They say Prozac has the fewest side effects...
Yeah, I’ve been on Helix for over two years now and honestly, I have no idea how I’ll ever get off it. If I cut back even a tiny bit, I can't catch a wink of sleep...
...plus, Calista has its own side effects too. It makes me feel incredibly drowsy during the day and just sort of out of it, so I've started tapering my dose down a little...
none of this really works for me :/
it's wild that some psychiatrists prescribe antipsychotics for depression or insomnia; one doctor actually tried to put me on Modafinil two years ago, and thank god I felt so terrible from it that I stopped. He actually had the nerve to tell me it was all in my head and that I just needed to push through... what an idiot🙄
I actually heard about people my mom knows who were completely destroyed by meds like Modafinil or Prazosin, and now they're suing their doctors... who knows why everyone gets prescribed these things, probably just kickbacks...
Yeah... I pretty much swap out my earplugs about once a week too😎
...last week I picked up some Moldex ones from $6.75; they're rubbery with a little string attached, so I thought, "Great, these'll last forever, and I can even wash them..." and honestly, they work—I can barely hear a thing...
but man, they are rock hard, definitely not meant for sleeping👎 ...silicone ones are always the best, I'll have to go hunting for those again
...honestly, I've been using earplugs for years too, currently using the foam ones; though silicone might be better, maybe they block out more noise:/
but even those don't help much since I live in such a loud part of the city, cars honking constantly, it’s just brutal 🙂 👎
I tried sleeping over at my grandma's where it's dead quiet; but it seems like I can't catch any sleep anywhere else anymore; so, whatever, I guess anything is better than nothing
I also have that Snoopy sleep mask from H&M😉), but it has its flaws—it doesn't block out enough light + it's a bit too tight; so for a while now, you guys are gonna laugh—I've just been sleeping with black underwear over my head 😬 😍
because honestly, I don't know what else to do, and everything just bothers me when I'm trying to sleep
Ginger tea really helps me out when I'm feeling nauseous...
I always keep some Grandma Rolls on me... I don't really get car sick, but if I've had a few drinks and someone's driving me home, I can get pretty nauseous. Eating a couple of those crackers—even when I'm not actually hungry—really helps settle my stomach... Not even a little bit of candy or anything dairy... I'd be sick to my stomach immediately...
...I read somewhere that taking too much Vitamin C can actually be bad for you because it might cause blood vessels to burst, or something like that...
I used to take that iron supplement from Ferum, but man, it always wrecked my stomach... Now I've switched over to this cod liver oil; supposedly it helps with memory and boosts serotonin...but then I read that it can thin your blood, which sounds like a disaster to me! Even if having thinner blood is technically better for circulation, I don't care; I'd much rather my blood clot quickly than deal with the alternative...actually, I think I'll just stop taking it altogether. I don't want to end up doing more harm than good:[
I’m probably one of those rare people who actually avoids fast food 😎
Living on sandwiches just isn't my thing... I tend to lean toward fruit yogurt with granola or maybe some chocolate soy milk... oh, and plenty of chocolate 🙂 which is usually my go-to breakfast
For lunch and dinner, I mostly stick to things like spaghetti, fish, veggie lasagna, or some seeded bread...
Though I have to admit, I'm pretty picky when it comes to fruits and veggies; there aren't many I actually enjoy 🙄
I make sure to eat at least four times a day—three main meals and maybe one or two snacks... I never skip a meal because if I go even a few hours without eating, I start feeling lightheaded and shaky...
