Hey there!
Does anyone have a clue why my Leukocytes might be slightly elevated (I'm at 11, when the normal range goes up to 9.7)? Everything else on my blood work looks totally fine, and honestly, I feel perfectly healthy—I haven't even had a sniffle lately.

And more importantly, how do I get them back down?

This is a huge deal for me because the job I’m applying for requires me to be in perfect health. My doctor is clearly making a big deal out of this tiny jump, otherwise she wouldn't have sent me back in for more blood work.
I'm wondering if taking Paxil could actually show up during a detailed systematic medical exam? I have to get one done for work—I need to be 100% healthy to land this gig—so I'm worried. Like, will it pop up on blood tests, urine samples, liver function tests, or anything like that?

It’s my business, period. I don't feel like I owe anyone this kind of info, so I'm definitely not planning on mentioning it. Besides, I'm moving on from this place anyway.

Does anyone know, pleeeease?

I've been on Paxil for about six months now, and ever since the second month kicked in, I’ve been dealing with this crazy night sweating. I read somewhere that it's just one of those common side effects from antidepressants, but honestly, I'm starting to freak out a little. I'm thinking about heading to the doctor to get some blood work done because, you know, who knows if it's actually something else going on under the hood? I'm pretty worried about it. 😢

Anyone else here taking ADs and dealing with the whole night sweats thing? 😢

Roger Rodriguez said:Just a heads-up, Paxil isn't a cure-all; you really have to view it as just one part of your toolkit. Once it stops having this kind of impact on you, be careful not to spiral into a phase even worse than the one you were in before you started.
Like I mentioned earlier—for me, the side effects didn't even start ramping up until about a year ago; everything was perfect until then. Now, I simply have to stop taking it because it's losing its effectiveness. But when I look back at those first few months on Paxil, I felt amazing... I had that emotional numbness, but in a "good" way, where nothing could trigger an episode. Honestly, things change, so please stay mindful. Don't let the fact that you're taking Paxil make you complacent or give you the false impression that you're suddenly "cured." If anything, this is exactly when you need to be doing the heavy lifting on your own personal growth.

Thanks for the heads-up. Honestly, I might have gotten a little too comfortable since I started the AD, but after dealing with dysthymia for years, I seriously needed this.
Doing the "work"—does that mean I absolutely have to see a psychiatrist and go to therapy? Because right now, I seriously cannot afford that.
Worst part is, I'm dealing with all this completely alone. My parents have no clue I'm on AD (or that I even saw a doctor). Only my boyfriend knows, but it's like he doesn't get it or just doesn't care.

Can you please list all the side effects Paxil caused you and exactly when they started kicking in?

I’m honestly too lazy to be posting on this forum much, but I figured I’d log in just to drop this—Paxil 🙏 😍

So, I’ve been on Paxil for about two and a half months now. It’s hard to pin down exactly when it kicked in; for me, it felt pretty gradual. If anything, I’d say the anxiety started lifting just a few days after I started, back when I was still only on 10mg.
I didn't end up needing any extra anxiolytics alongside the Paxil, which is a huge relief. Honestly, dealing with the side effects was actually tougher when I bumped the dose from 10mg to 20mg than it was when I first started taking it.

My social phobia is basically gone, the anxiety too, and the depression... well, it's still there, but it's nothing compared to before.
If I had to describe it, Paxil made me feel kind of indifferent toward everything. Like, I've become emotionally numb. But in a good way! 😁 I went from being someone who could spiral over absolutely anything to someone where things barely even touch me anymore.
I used to get these intense waves of terror where my head would spin and my whole body would just convulse—kind of like a panic attack, even though my psych tests said I didn't have clinical panic disorder—but that totally vanished with Paxil.

Someone mentioned that their motivation tanked while on an AD. For me, it’s been the exact opposite. My lack of drive and general apathy were just symptoms of the depression, and now that's cleared up, they're gone.
I’ve actually started planning trips for next month, for the summer... I'm finally making plans again. For the first time in years.

As for libido, at first it was a solid negative 100 (during the depression it was a negative 10), but now it's definitely in the positive. 😍

For a while, I was struggling with insomnia. I wouldn't be able to fall asleep for hours on end. That dragged on for quite a bit, but it recently cleared up.

My dreams have been way more intense since I started the AD. It’s actually pretty wild. 🙂

When I first started, I was constantly exhausted, but not anymore. Except, obviously, when I drink (mixing the AD and alcohol 🤦—yeah, I know, I'm an idiot). In those cases, I'll be wiped out for a couple of days, and the day after a bender, I can easily sleep the whole day away.

What else can I say... everyone's just a total zombie on Paxil 😁 Just kidding. 😁
Anyway, those are my experiences. I hope this helps someone out. If you have questions, just ask.

I've been taking it for a little over three years and the fatigue hasn't lifted. I'm constantly drowsy, always yawning, and I sleep about 12 hours a day. Plus, I get so dizzy right after waking up that I often just give up and go back to sleep.

Damn 😁
If it hasn't helped after 3 years, why on earth haven't you switched meds yet?
I've been dealing with this for a week and it is driving me absolutely insane.

Does Zoloft actually cause fatigue?

One more thing. One side effect I get from Paxil is that when I lie down to sleep but haven't drifted off yet, my whole body suddenly spasms—it feels like I've been hit by an electric shock. It lasts about a second and it is such a nasty sensation. It happens a few times before I actually pass out.
I know it's because of the medication because this never used to happen to me.
Anyone else dealing with this crap?

I’ve been on Paxil for five weeks now—did 10mg for the first three weeks, then bumped up to 20mg about ten days ago.
I actually powered through the initial side effects without needing any extra anti-anxiety meds (they weren't even that bad, honestly), but ever since I switched to the 20mg dose, everything changed. On top of the usual stuff, I am sleeping *way* too much and just feel totally wiped out all day long. For the last couple of days, I’ve been barely dragging myself out of bed by 2:00 PM!!! It’s seriously embarrassing.

Has anyone else dealt with this insane fatigue from Paxil?
Please tell me this is just temporary and it'll pass. 😢

This thread already exists 😉

But honestly, I'll vouch for it just because of how "Part I" plays out—it's actually worth the watch until that captain/killer character shows up. Once he steps on screen, the whole Film just turns into a total joke.

Did I totally lose my mind, or was that movie on my phone a couple of days ago? You know, the one about those kids heading to New York City for prom, then their plane crashes and death starts hunting down the survivors?😬
What’s the actual title of that flick?

IMHO, that movie is absolute garbage. I don't get what you people find so great about it.😁

Walter Smith8 said:Look, I haven't actually tried getting ozone therapy for my teeth myself, but I did pass along the info for my dentist in that other post. The original question was about finding a solid dentist in Chicago. I just realized lately that even they've started using ozone treatments, but what can I do? They did such an amazing job fixing my teeth that now I don't even have anything left to test it on!

😉 😎 😍

Walter Smith8, what kind of prices are we talking about at their place? You can hit me up in a DM if that's easier.

It’s totally possible. Honestly, even I get a massive stomach ache if I drink too much milk at once!

Check this out—this place uses some seriously high-tech gear. They do ozone therapy for teeth so you don't have to deal with all that aggressive drilling, plus they use these crazy cameras to check everything out. They even use electronic sensors to catch cavities in the early stages before they actually turn into problems you can see with the naked eye. Seriously, it’s incredible. I had a tooth that was basically doomed, but they caught a few tiny issues early on and fixed them right up. You should definitely swing by; you won't regret it.

I go to see my dentist, Auntie Zelma🙂 , and honestly, I am beyond stoked with her. She has this insane little camera that zooms in so much you can see every microscopic change, and she uses laser diagnostics to sniff out cavities that aren't even visible yet. Getting cavities treated with ozone costs about $83 (plus you gotta grab their special remineralizing paste— $33) and stuff like that... just ask if you want details. Or better yet, just book an appointment with her; I think she's usually free for $33 check-ups. 🙂

George Gray3 said:$233Man, you’re looking at a $700 bill for this? Just pay the damn thing and get some peace of mind. Honestly, just cut the check so you can actually sleep at night without stressing over it.

Easy for you to say! You’re just a student—to you, that kind of money is practically an absolute fortune! 😁
There aren't any limits. My eye doctor even told me that 9-year-olds are wearing contacts just fine these days...

Can someone break down what extrasystoles actually are? Is it something I should be freaking out about?

darkbear8 said:Look, I’m telling you, just go get a full cardiology workup. It’s not even because I think something is actually wrong, it’s just so you can finally get a straight answer and stop wondering if there's a diagnosis out there. Trust me, you'll feel way more chill once you know! Go all out—get the full checkup, an ECG, a Holter monitor, and an ultrasound. They probably found extra systoles just like they did with me, but at least then you'll know that's all it is and be done with it! And seriously, don't be afraid to demand answers for anything you don't get. This is your health we're talking about!! Be polite, but make them explain what you actually have and what you should expect moving forward.
Of course, that's assuming they actually find something! I don't know what kind of symptoms you're dealing with, but at least you won't be left guessing.

Back then, I didn't ask my doctor a single thing because I was just a clueless, blunt 12-year-old😁, when my doctor told me during a routine physical that my ECG wasn't looking right and sent me to a cardiologist. I didn't even care; I just thought, "Ugh, great, now I have to waste time walking around hospitals for no reason..."🙂
If someone had told me that back then, I would have absolutely lost my mind and started spiraling into a million worst-case scenarios... I am a massive panicker, honestly. 🙂
I know deep down I need to get this checked out ASAP...
res publica said:A close friend of my mom's went through this absolute extortion nightmare when her kid needed tonsil surgery. The doctor straight up told her, "Look, your kid is fourth on my list tomorrow, but after I've done three surgeries, my focus slips and I might slip up with the scalpel—anything could happen." So, she handed him $200 on the spot, and suddenly, her kid was moved to the very top of the list.

😲 😲 MAN, saying that about a kid... that's just sick...

res publica said:To wrap it up, healthcare corruption is definitely a massive issue and needs to be ripped out by the roots. It's everywhere in other industries too, but that's no excuse for what's happening here.

I have to admit, I haven't personally run into a corrupt doctor yet. I’m sure they exist—honestly, more and more of these stories are coming to light lately—but I can say that I (thank God) haven't had to deal with one myself...

Kimberly Nguyen said:So, I finally went in for my checkup (+ECG + ultrasound—cost me about $200) at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
I was actually seen by Dr. Bates himself.
Honestly, they were incredibly kind...
My heart is healthy (thank God!), but there's something going on with my left atrium that makes it skip a beat or two. He said it’s nothing dangerous, just uncomfortable. He really calmed my nerves (you know how your mind starts racing with worst-case scenarios)... I feel much better now... He suggested I get a Holter monitor done sometime (nothing urgent, he said) just to be safe...

Hey, glad to hear everything went smoothly!🙂

I’ve had a pretty crappy experience with cardiology before. About 7 or 8 years ago (my ECG came back wonky during a routine physical, so they sent me to a specialist), I think I went to the Mayo Clinic and they ran every test imaginable (ECG, Holter monitor, stress test, ultrasound): for the ECG, they told me something "wasn't quite right, but it wasn't a heart murmur"😕, and the Holter was the same deal (some irregularities), but then the doctor looked at the ultrasound and said it wasn't anything in terms of an actual defect—those were his exact words. They handed me my results, which were totally gibberish to me, and sent me packing. Since I was training hard back then, they didn't even tell me if it was safe to keep working out or not!
Anyway, I've had ECGs a few times in my life, and it's *never* been perfectly fine. Once, during a physical with a student doctor, she listened to me and told me my heart rate was way too high...
To be honest, my heart just decides to race for no reason all the time, and I frequently get those sharp, cramping pains...
Now that I've been reading this thread about WPW, I'm thinking, dammit, maybe that's what I have...
Maybe I'm just a total hypochondriac😁 Or maybe not?😕
I think I'll head in for a checkup soon once I save up the cash, because I am definitely done dealing with these government doctors...
