The growing trend of smoking bans in Health ·
Melissa Gonzalez9 said:Just picture a sidewalk cafe on a street where smoking is banned, while everyone sits there breathing in exhaust fumes instead... or imagine a power plant 3.1 miles right next to your house, with a smoke-free park built inside its shadow... it's all nonsense. The air we breathe is already so filthy that worrying about cigarettes feels like a tiny issue for our health. Once those massive pollution problems are actually fixed, then sure, go ahead and ban my cigarette, I won't complain... but until then, this kind of law just feels hypocritical...

Look... For me, and I think most non-smokers would agree, being stuck inhaling someone else's smoke is way more annoying than the actual health risks. I—and honestly, most people here—don't need to imagine the ridiculous scenarios you're bringing up. In America, we're lucky enough to still have some decent air left. Just because it's relatively clean doesn't mean we should ruin it, right? And even if it wasn't so clean, why would we want to make it worse? Why not just switch to heroin then? At least you wouldn't be bothering anyone else with smoke, and let's face it, we're all going to die eventually anyway.🙂

And what exactly are you looking for? A medal? Should we roll out the red carpet for you? You clearly don't get it... you don't get an award just for not doing something you had no right to do in the first place. Do I get a trophy for not passing gas in the middle of the street? Or maybe a prize because I didn't just go out and beat up my neighbor for no reason... I'd love a little recognition for that too, I guess...

Look, man... smoke all you want, as long as your clouds aren't hitting my space... I honestly don't give a damn if people smoke—if they want to wreck their health and smell like an ashtray, that's on them. Just don't force it on everyone else.

I mean, WHY are you even at a bar if you can't handle the smoke? If I get annoyed when someone farts, should we pass a law banning farting in public places?

Look, one person's freedom ends where someone else's begins. By smoking around non-smokers, you're actually infringing on their space—in that scenario, you're the aggressor. Sure, you can start ranting about how it's your right to smoke and all that nonsense, but honestly? You don't have that right, at least not from a moral or ethical standpoint. I bet you feel like a victim when you're told you can't light up somewhere, don't you? But you aren't the victim. Just remember that. And if you can't wrap your head around it, the law will eventually force you to... 😉As for the farting thing—you really took that one too far.

Being pale isn't always a bad thing for women... especially if you're rocking jet-black hair... 🙂

That’s why you wouldn't need to go overboard with the chemicals during the growing season. Now, look, I'm definitely no expert when it comes to agronomy, but it just seems to make sense to me... It would be great if someone who actually knows their stuff could weigh in on this...

It’s just one of those "unforeseeable" variables that the anti-GMO crowd loves to harp on about... You know the type. Those Monsanto "experts" only ever look at what’s right in front of them. Their studies are way too short-term, lacking any real depth, and let's be honest, they're pretty biased too. Theoretically, everything should work exactly the way you’re thinking—which is exactly how Monsanto tries to sell us on it—but man, you really have to read between the lines... Hey... It’s funny how things work out... you can find similar arguments floating around in old archives from The New York Times way back in '99. For the first few years, it actually seems like they’re using fewer chemicals compared to traditional farming. But then, as time goes on, the demand for those sprays just keeps climbing... and eventually, you realize that GMO food ends up being some of the most heavily treated stuff out there. And here’s the kicker: some of these genetic tweaks actually turn the plants themselves into pesticides. When you look at it that way, it almost feels safer to just spray the outside, since at least then the toxins stay on the surface... instead of being baked right into the plant. Theory is one thing, but reality is a whole different beast. I wish someone with actual expertise would weigh in on this, but I doubt we’ll find anyone here who really knows the drill...

Pallas said:Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, everyone... but hey, silence gives consent, right?

Look, just being real here... Jost and Radman aren't even in the same league. Not even close. I wouldn't go weighing their opinions against each other like they're equals... I mean, don't get me wrong, Dr. Radman can definitely be wrong sometimes, but still...

I brought up Jost specifically because he’s already gone head-to-head with Radman... and that guy in The Los Angeles Times wrote about it a few pages after the interview with Radman. You’re totally missing the point here. Is it even possible that the editors at the Times couldn't find a single competent person to speak out against GMOs?! A friend mentioned a similar setup in that school magazine, Nature, where they ran Radman's piece... he looks all polished in the photo, wearing designer stuff like a Lacoste shirt... meanwhile, you don't see any of the anti-GMO crowd getting that kind of spotlight. It all feels incredibly fishy. It looks like a blatant attempt to manufacture public support for GMOs. This isn't journalism, it's just straight-up marketing... honestly, it's embarrassing. It's like if you were watching an election and the news only interviewed one political party or one presidential candidate, and then expected you to walk away with a fair conclusion based on that... it just doesn't add up... 😵 You really can't, can you?...

Pallas said:Oh sure, you clearly know way more about genetics than Dr. Radman does... 🙄

If you’ve got a bit of intuition and know how to read between the lines, it’s pretty obvious this whole piece was commissioned... just look at the tone and the way the arguments are framed. It’s a joke, honestly. Not journalism. I actually spoke with someone who has a much better handle on Radman’s actual position, and let's just say he has a vested interest in this narrative. There is no way a serious scientist would pen something this amateurish... he clearly got paid for it. But what really bugs me is why they only published Radman's take. Why hasn't Jost shared his perspective on this? You see some nutritionist writing about Radman and Jost as if they’re these two opposing experts, but then I go looking for Jost's response and—nothing. It’s just not there. It makes you wonder... Does the name Monsanto ring a bell? They produce about 80% of the GMO seeds out there. And for those who aren't aware, Monsanto also produces aspartame, which should have NEVER been approved for use in the first place... but hey, money talks, right? I’m not even talking about GMO food here. I’m talking about the lies, the corruption, and the monopolies. It’s wild how Americans are actually horrified that Europe won't touch GMO crops...

Casey Palmer5 said:Look, I get it. Organic food is hands down the best way to go, but let’s be real... most people can't exactly drop that kind of cash on every grocery run these days. If it were up to me? I’d honestly take GMOs over eating stuff that's basically soaked in pesticides... turns out being healthy is getting pretty expensive...

Just another one of those lies... people claim GMO plants get sprayed just as much, if not even more, than the conventional stuff. Honestly, I don't care what Monsanto tries to tell us... it’s what the farmers on the ground are actually saying that matters... 😉 There’s way too much of this stuff floating around online anyway... I don't even want to bother dropping links here...
I tried those little meat substitutes once, back before I really understood how much soy was actually messing people up. Honestly? It was pretty revolting. I told myself right then, never again... though I have to admit, soy milk isn't half bad. It’s got a decent flavor to it, in a way...

What you're talking about is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to soy. You can find all the other issues here. Soy isn't some "superfood" like those big health brands try to sell you in commercials; it's actually pretty harmful, especially for kids. Don't feed them that junk! 👎

I remember reading this USA Today piece where Radman was being interviewed, and he’s out there claiming—and when he speaks, people actually listen—that Monsanto food is basically perfect. He’d recommend it to anyone. Plus, he insists there’s zero evidence of any danger after thirty years of tracking how this stuff affects the human body... if you believe him, anyway.

And then there's Radman, who honestly sounds like an idiot in this article. He claims gene manipulation is all about reducing pesticide and herbicide use. Like, seriously? According to him, Monsanto food is somehow the cleanest and healthiest option out there! Then he starts reminiscing about how our grandparents used to eat, implying they ate junk because they sprayed everything with chemicals. But he completely ignores how farming works today—we don't even use nearly as many harsh chemicals as we used to. As far as I know... the whole point of messing with genes is just making plants more resistant to those pesticides, so farmers can do less work. They just spray everything and don't have to worry about weeding corn or whatever since the toxins kill everything else. It's just a fairy tale. By the way, where's that other guy's piece, Jost or whoever? The one who’s actually against Monsanto? Our media outlets clearly don't have a clue what "objectivity" means... 😉

rustyridge said:I actually found out just the other day that some bakeries dye white bread to make it look like the whole grain stuff I used to buy all the time. Trying to eat healthy and then finding out... I was just so bitter.

That really turned my stomach too. I remember an older lady buying this "whole grain" bread at a different bakery once, and I took one look at it and thought, man, this looks almost identical to white bread, just darker... and the taste isn't even that different! Total crooks. They should be run out of town...

And don't even get me started on the term "vegetable oil." For crying out loud, what plant is that even from? I'd bet anything it's just the stuff I have in my pantry, probably soybean oil. It has that same weird hint to it, kind of like soy milk... and soy is garbage. It’s super unhealthy, even though USA Today keeps advertising it as some health food.

Amy Fox97 said:I was catching up with a friend of mine yesterday—she’s struggling with her weight, sitting at around 250 pounds right now—and I tried to explain that you can't just starve yourself to drop 90 pounds... It's dangerous. You end up wrecking your body because you're missing out on all those essential vitamins and minerals you need to actually function.

The real question is, what is she even eating? Starving isn't the solution here... the answer is actually eating the right foods.
I ended up seeing The Matrix Revolutions in the theater, and honestly, it was only because a buddy wouldn't shut up about it until we went. So yeah, I sat through two hours of pure torture... that movie, and Reloaded, are officially off my list forever. Total garbage. Period. Even if someone had been talking or making noise in the theater, I wouldn't have cared—the movies themselves are just incredibly dull and exhausting. They showed the first Matrix on TV recently, so I probably won't be revisiting that one for at least another 5 or 10 years. I really don't get why there was such a massive hype train surrounding the whole Matrix saga... 😕
Man, listen... I've played my fair share of those "violent" games... Most people who actually know me would tell you I'm probably the most laid-back, non-confrontational guy they've ever met... So yeah, all that nonsense...

The pictures look absolutely fantastic! I’m a little worried, though... Garfield looks way too happy in these shots. He’s usually such a grouch, you know? But hey, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the movie turns out. 🙂

The only issue is that he’s really only killing about ten "unique" people... you know, because the camera keeps hitting those same damn corners over and over again.😁

shadowfalcon33 said:Are you actually using H2O2?!... I mean, seriously... 😕 It doesn't really do much for the flu, anyway...

Have you tried it? I'm quoting from this one page: Based on everything I've gathered, hydrogen peroxide actually does a decent job. They say it’s effective about 80% of the time, particularly if you jump on it right when those first cold symptoms start showing up... It definitely goes against everything they taught us in school about how to handle a cold or the flu, but honestly, I know plenty of people who have given it a shot and had incredible results. Staying on top of things is always better for prevention, just like everything else... especially before the flu really hits you hard.

Anyway, I’ve been digging into some negative experiences regarding vaccinations lately... It’s actually pretty interesting. Everything I’ve read about the "anti-flu shot" side of things—whether it was in the mainstream news or just scrolling through various sites—everyone was pushing it so hard. They rarely mentioned any side effects, let alone the toxic stuff inside the actual shots... You really have to watch out for that. Those toxic ingredients don't just mess with your body in other ways... they can actually weaken your immune system. That means you might end up catching something else more easily, like a common cold, even if you get a tiny bit of extra protection against the flu (though sometimes, it feels like it does the exact opposite!)... One smooth piece of writing.

On one website, www.mercola.com Where do you find all those people who are hardcore anti-vax and back it up with what they call "common sense" logic? It’s tough to get much depth from them because they don't really have their own forums or anything like that... Just scattered bits here and there. But honestly, looking at you guys on this forum right now, you're actually proving exactly what that website claims: that the flu shot just doesn't stop the flu. Patients walk into the doctor's office, get the jab thinking they're doing the right thing, mostly because their doctor gives them this false sense of security—telling them they won't catch the flu. That’s incredibly unethical on the doctor's part. Or maybe they're being lied to too, and they're just as deluded about how effective these vaccines actually are. And even if the efficacy were somehow high, you still have to ask yourself if it's worth the risk of poisoning your system with all that junk they pack into the shot just so we can get through the winter... Maybe... You won't escape the flu. Look, I’ve never been vaccinated, yet I still caught the flu two or three times—and that's just in my twenty-two years on this planet! You have to consider that I wasn't exactly taking care of myself either. My diet was pretty terrible, barely any veggies, which meant I was low on Vitamin C too. My immune system was basically in a state of crisis... allergies to everything under the sun, constant little colds... Once it hits you, you're out of commission for a week, and that's that...

😁 No worries at all! Really, don't even sweat it... it happens to the best of us. Just keeping things moving...

Regarding vaccines, I was reading the Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post, and they’re saying they work for about 80% of people. So, I guess there's some truth to it... even if it didn't really do much for me. Now what? 🙂

The *Los Angeles Times* and *The Washington Post* are constantly churning out stories... but the stuff that actually matters? It's nowhere to be found. Have you seen anything lately about mercury or formaldehyde being in those vaccines? Or even just wondered why they tell you not to get jabbed if you're feeling under the weather in the first place? Getting vaccinated isn't some harmless little thing... Honestly, half the medical advice in those health columns is just nonsense. And look... since the government already spent all that money buying up the supplies, I guess they might as well use them, right? 🙂

Hydrogen peroxide in the ear canal? On this page, you can read about one reader's personal experience following an old German remedy... Roger Cox10—don't ever vaccinate your little one again! Vaccines contain mercury and formaldehyde, and there really isn't any reason to poison your child. And then in the end, it turns out they were vaccinated for nothing anyway.
Movie Soundtracks and Their Composers in Movies ·
Something else just popped into my head... even though it doesn't really count as a "movie" per se... Remember Mark Snow? He had that song Informer about ten years ago where he was rapping in this super hard-to-understand way—maybe English with a Jamaican accent?... Well... he actually composed the opening theme for the series Nikita, that brilliant intro for The X-Files, and also some incredible atmospheric music for that show too (I think for those two movies as well).

So, have we heard...

I think we might be talking about two different things here! All I remember is seeing a version on one of those old cassette tapes labeled as "Radio"—and no, it wasn't that standard *Das Boot* melody. I’m pretty sure it didn't even come out until around 1993, right around the same time as *Love Sees no Colour* by U96...

I first got hooked on techno back in '92 because of that one track... I was just a kid then. Honestly, I was one of the very first people in my hometown to even touch the genre. I can say it with total pride now—I was spinning techno while 99% of Americans didn't even know it existed yet...

I remember back in high school, my English teacher mentioned that "sad" techno actually stems from the avant-garde scene... and here I was, already deep into it for years! Man... where does that leave us? This whole forum seems absolutely packed with rockers and whatever else, but us electronic music heads? Nowhere to be found...
