Ruptured eardrum in Health ·
vividpilot47 said:Hey everyone, I need some advice if anyone here knows what they're talking about.

Basically, I took a hit to my left ear and ruptured my eardrum. The doctor says there's a hole about 1mm wide. My hearing is muffled, and I can't pick up bass or those deep tones at all. It’s a disgusting feeling. This actually happened once before five years ago, but the drum healed on its own back then. I even went for hearing tests which came out okay, even though my left side was weaker. The drum healed completely and worked fine until now.

Questions:

* Can an eardrum heal normally again, or is it harder since this is the second time?
* Are there any supplements or meds that help speed up the healing process?
* Roughly how long does this take? I have a trip to Florida coming up and I don't want it ruined.😢
* If it doesn't heal, has anyone dealt with surgery? How's the sound quality afterward? I happen to be a DJ, so this is pretty bad news for me..

Thanks for any input. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go bang my head against a wall.😢

I can't really answer your questions, but I will say this: beating your head isn't exactly a brilliant move given that ruptured eardrum. 😁
Hopefully you pull through. 🙂

This Irish-American band 😉

Dubioza Kolektiv was alright for some dancing. But honestly, Skindred was the absolute highlight of the whole thing for me. I’d never heard them before, but man, they put on a set that was just unreal. That vocalist is a total beast. Chaos is alive. Flogging Molly was great, beers were flowing everywhere, and we were all just sharing drinks afterward, folks.

I completely agree, especially regarding Skindred 👍
I caught Dubioza, and they were killer. Just great vibes and perfect for some snacking and hanging out. 😁
Then Skindred came on. Honestly, I’d never even heard of them before, but man, they blew me away. They absolutely electrified the crowd; the vocals are pure genius, and everyone just lost it during their set.
Flogging Molly was also top-tier. It was just as good as when they played in New Orleans a year ago, though I was freezing and exhausted, so I didn't really have the energy to jump around anymore. My only gripe is that they didn't play Whistles the Wind.
Once things wound down, I sat back for a bit and listened to Massive Attack. Visually, they're incredible. I don't actually listen to them much, so we were basically just killing time...

All in all, a pretty solid fifth Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival for me. I missed last year, but I went to the VIP section back when The Prodigy, Serj Tankian, and Nick Cave were playing, and that was excellent too.

Same thing happened to me; they pulled at it to check if it had been opened.
And then this female medic checking me out ended up slapping my butt like, "you're good to go."😂😂
Sending 😳 😂
quietdriver3 said:Maybe Flogging Molly will actually be decent today. I guess.

Oh, for sure. They were killer when they played at the arena last year... should be a blast.
😂😂 I'm in the minority here, so I guess I'll just back out. 😁

Pendulum lasted about 15 minutes and I think it was some of the worst stuff I've ever seen—just a mess of Prodigy, Scooter, Limp Bizkit, and Colonie. Purely for kids. They should have had an "under 12 only" sticker on them. Billy Idol looked sad, old, and like he could barely catch his breath.

I agree regarding Billy Idol, but I can't get behind the Pendulum take. I saw Limp Bizkit and they aren't even remotely similar, let alone Colonie. They’re actually one of the better drum'n'bass or electro/rock bands out there. Their cover of Voodoo People even landed them on the Prodigy compilation *Their Law: The Singles 1990-2005*. To me, they're excellent, high-energy, and intense.
Sure, tastes differ and we won't argue about that, but you just can't compare them to LP, Colonie, or Scooter. 😂
I caught Morcheeba because I wasn't really interested in anything else at the time. It was okay, I guess. A bit boring at points since I don't actually listen to them, but the lead singer is pretty sweet and charming enough.
The audio Bullys totally blew me away 🙏
Pendulum was great. Honestly, I regret leaving halfway through to catch Billy Idol, only to arrive right when he hit that slow stretch—singing four depressing songs in a row. I actually started nodding off 🤣 I don't know, I just didn't vibe with him much; I always got the impression he used to be more charismatic. I heard Rebel Yell, then just took a casual stroll home.
Was anyone else at L-Vis 1990?
Today it's just pure skepticism and F. Molly, maybe a little Cut Massive once I get back.
Maria Collins said:I’d love to wear tights too, but I suspect once the crowd descends, it'll just be the same mess it was yesterday.

When it comes to Lollapalooza events mixed with mud, the only thing that matters is being comfortable enough to actually enjoy the music. I'm in total practical mode—I always think about those girls in goth sticks or people in combat boots at Metallica 😂 who end up literally waist-deep in sludge. So, yeah, maybe I'll just rock fishing boots and a heavy-duty trash bag instead of a raincoat. 😁

It’s not like I’m stressed about wearing my leopard print boots, but honestly, I don't care. I know the mud isn't going anywhere today, and probably not tomorrow either, since everyone is just going to stomp all over it again.

And regarding the whole raincoat situation? Shame on them. Verizon did this perfectly two years ago; they handed them out like candy, giving people two each just so they could pass them along.
I don't get why they can't just stock up on raincoats, even if they were bright pink T-Mobile pink.
Just to be spiteful, I'll be wearing my old Verizon raincoat. ☕😁

Skip the Bill Gates stuff and just go see Pendulum. I mean, what's the point of following some star who's basically just coasting on glory from the 80s? 😉 😁

When you lay it out like that... 😁
I just want to see Bill Gates and hear two songs, then maybe head over to the Pendulum set and party. 😁
At least there’s no rain or wind today... though I’ll probably end up trekking through it in my Xena boots anyway. 😁
Everything else is just going to be a total washout on this swamp within five minutes.

I still haven't figured out how to pull off a Billy Idol and Pendulum mashup. 😢
Taylor Fisher4 said:So, where did you end up getting those boots? 😁

It’s like being stuck in a frozen wasteland of footwear. Sure, you can find gear in some big cities, but if you're picking up stuff from a small town in the Midwest, it’s useless. They aren't insulated. Once that rubber goes cold, you're done for. I guess it's impossible to get your feet warm again. Maybe just stay inside. 😁

It’s probably better to just dress for the weather—layer up, bring a raincoat, grab some boots. Otherwise, you're going to spend the first thirty minutes sweating through your clothes only to freeze your tail off later. Then you're just cold and cranky. At least I know I would be. 😁
This is how I dress if I actually want to enjoy the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Maybe.
I only bought these because of Metallica. I figured they’d be fine for the horse racing track. I wouldn't have picked this specific pattern—yellow leopard, seriously?—but since it isn't even their season yet, I guess I didn't have much of a choice.
Well, it finally paid off. I wore them to the Metallica concert, and now I’ll be wearing them to Coachella. I suppose there will be plenty of other chances down the road. They aren't exactly cheap. $66 :/
Rachel Rodriguez3 said:Are you actually sure about bringing a small umbrella?

I’m not 100% certain, but if I recall correctly, they let umbrellas in at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival a couple of years ago. Honestly, just wear a raincoat. It’s way easier. Umbrellas are a pain because you have to carry them the whole time.😁
Maybe just sneak it in your backpack, or just wing it. If you grab one of those cheap little ones from a CVS or a Walgreens, it won't be a huge deal if security confiscates it at the gate.
But you should probably bring a raincoat just in case.
Sure, you can bring a camera or even a small umbrella. Unless, of course, the photographer isn't actually a pro. If you're worried about security checking your gear, just shove everything at the bottom of your backpack. They don't usually dig through bags much. Especially if you're a woman 😍 😂
Megan Jones27 said:I haven't really caught up on the thread yet, I'll get to it later... but anyway, here's what's on my mind. Look...
I don't get this whole ticket situation. I have two FESTIVAL PASSES, and they say June 22nd and 23rd, 2010. Fine. But what about Ground Zero tomorrow, the 21st?
The festival pass should cover all three days... you know, Ground Zero, day one, and day two. Does this mean I can't show up tomorrow or something??

Ground Zero was added recently, way after tickets went on sale. Your festival pass covers Ground Zero too.
Maria Collins said:Those cheap disposable raincoats for $1.75 are available at Walmart.

Rebecca Lee: do you actually know which specific stores carry the decent ones?

Like I said, check those places I mentioned—definitely hit up any fishing tackle shops. You can find two-piece sets, just a jacket, or even a poncho 😁, or whatever you want to call a cape 😁
starting from $17 onwards
. I don't know the exact store names, especially since I'm not from Chicago, but if you Google it, you'll surely stumble upon a good shop with that kind of gear.
I guess you might also find some at Home Depot or maybe larger retailers like Walmart or Target.
They sometimes show up in shoe stores too; I think I saw them at Foot Locker once.
Nicole Moore97 said:Oh, I didn't know that. That's actually helpful, thanks. 🙂

Yeah, you should probably find them in the fishing aisle or maybe where they keep the OSHA safety gear.
If you want to spend a bit more, $17 you could just grab a decent raincoat. These disposable ones might handle a light drizzle, but they won't stand up to a real downpour.
Nicole Moore97 said:Does anyone actually know if they’re handing out ponchos if the weather turns bad? 😁
I seem to recall them doing that once, maybe a few years back. 🤷

They did that back when it was still Coachella, about two years ago. I think I still have one at home. 😁
But you can always just buy those cheap disposable ones at $1.75
any drugstore.
Jose Jackson14 said:I have a question for those who know more. How long does an average set last at a festival? Like, how much time does a band such as Morcheeba, Ma, or Flogging Molly actually get on stage? I don't live in Washington, D.C., so I can only make it for one day. Since I can't head up there for the whole Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, I'm wondering if it's even worth making the trip just for a single night.

I guess for Flogging Molly and Ma, they won't play less than ninety minutes, surely. Just check the schedule for the gaps between bands and subtract about twenty minutes for the stage turnover between sets.
Festivals are usually pretty punctual when it comes to the schedule.
