Kidney issues/health in Health ·
So, here’s the final verdict. I’m feeling perfectly fine myself—blood work came back clean, urine tests are good, kidney scans look normal. Honestly, what was even happening? Maybe I just pinched a nerve when the pain was hitting that peak level...
.......but I'm feeling a lot more relaxed now that I know I'm not hauling kidney stones around inside me.😁

thanks 🙂

I actually appreciate people who give a damn, even if it’s just through a screen 🙂 😉

...Yeah, yeah, I was there. But honestly? Tonight I actually got my head right and my body ready, and I slept like a baby. Yesterday and today have been totally fine—I feel like I could go out for a run if I had to 😁. What’s really bugging me now is 🤔 what happens after those two pills. I haven't taken anything else since, and the pain just vanished. Even today, I feel like a brand new person 🙂
...I did the urine test and blood work, and then went in for X-rays. That's it for now. I get the results Monday afternoon, so I'll probably be stuck getting shots all weekend
.

Honestly, I think it was just an infection. I started drinking some Uvula tea and kept my kidney warm every single day by wrapping it up in a thick sweater. After a few days, everything just cleared up. The pain vanished!!!!!
Don't jump straight to thinking it's a kidney stone; you might have just caught a little bug, at least I hope so. But if you're still worried about stones, go see your doctor and they'll send you for an ultrasound! GOOD LUCK!!! 👋

Yeah, maybe it is an infection. Walking barefoot definitely didn't help.🙄 I'm heading to the clinic today, so we'll see what they say. Thanks for the input.🙂

Thanks, placidjackal97, and thanks to you too😘

I honestly don't know what happened last night. I had this intense pain right where my left kidney is located. It wasn't that radiating kind of pain—my mother-in-law claims that kind of pain hits you in the groin instead. But man, it hurt so bad I practically reverted to being an animal, crawling on all fours just to get to the bathroom. I couldn't lift my left foot off the floor even an inch, and getting out of the bathtub was a total struggle. Urinating was fine, though. What could it be? A coworker at the office suggested it might be kidney stones. I'm heading to my doctor today and I’m going to demand an X-ray or an ultrasound. Which one actually works better???

....and in the end, my mother-in-law saved the day.🙂 My husband ran out to grab some Robaxin; he gave me one at 10 PM last night and another one at 4 AM this morning, and now the pain is completely gone. How is that even possible??????

I’ve got this sharp pain in my left kidney—or at least, that’s where it feels like it’s coming from. I need some experienced people to weigh in: what are the actual symptoms of kidney issues? Can anyone tell if it’s really the kidney?
Getting out of bed is a total nightmare. I can't bend over, I can't stand up straight, and sitting down is just pure agony. Even walking or trying to go down the stairs is brutal. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, but honestly, I'm terrified it might be kidney stones. 😢
My husband actually had to drive over to his mother's place to grab some Advil because this pain is just unreal. It’s been bothering me before, but nothing like this. At this rate, there’s a very real chance I’ll be spending the night in the ER.

Please, if anyone has any advice or insight, let me know. Thanks!
Brittle, peeling nails: any tips? in Health ·
Kimberly Williams said:Then I tried those Merz supplements—vitamins for hair, skin, and nails—and things are looking up. My nails actually grew out and they’re pretty tough now. You just have to be disciplined and take them consistently for a few months until the whole nail grows out. They really worked for me, so I basically do this treatment once a year.

What kind of supplements are we talking about here? Where can I find them, what does the packaging look like, and how long does a bottle last? Also, what's the damage to my wallet, and can I pick them up at Walgreens?
Does anyone know what Dikla is for nails? I'm thinking about jumping on that. I already have Essie and L'Oreal hardeners, and honestly, the L'Oreal one is great.🙂

Any other smart advice out there?🙂

Thanks, northernfalcon30, much appreciated.😘 🙂 🙂

Ha. Ha. You actually made me laugh there. Look, maybe I’m being a bit of a rookie when it comes to certain things😵, so please, enlighten me🙂 😁

Look, you seriously need to start wearing gloves because you're about to end up looking like a farmhand.😉
As for the peeling, sounds like they're just dehydrated. Give Essie a shot (you can grab it at Walgreens).
I haven't used it myself, so I can't swear by it, but definitely try it—and from now on, it's gloves and clear protective polish ON your nails, ALWAYS.
You also need to use those three-way buffers every once in a while to polish them up.
Step 1, step 2, step 3... let's get to work!!!🎉

DEHYDRATED? I DRINK 3 LITERS OF WATER A DAY!🙄
I already use clear polish, and it looks like I'll have to start wearing gloves too, even though I'm clumsy as hell with them. Honestly, even without gloves, I don't know what's going on. It's not like I'm lacking moisture, so maybe I'm low on calcium? Or maybe I just wore them down. I guess I have been spending a lot of time with my hands in the dirt, I really have...😵 😵
...and regarding that stuff at Walgreens, I heard it's useless. That Estée Lauder strengthener is my absolute lifesaver.

Thanks girls, you're the best.🙂

I honestly can't believe nobody here has a single shred of actual, useful advice to offer.🙄
Brittle, peeling nails: any tips? in Health ·
So, my nails have started peeling. This has never happened to me before. I’m already taking multivitamins, so I’m wondering what's going on—am I missing something specific? Like, is there another vitamin I should be looking for?
...Just to clarify, the peeling isn't happening at the tips. It's higher up, like the top protective layer is just stripping away, leaving the surface underneath dull and matte instead of shiny. I'm wondering if I did this to myself by messing around in the garden. I've been out there working my tail off the last few days, and obviously, I wasn't wearing gloves.😢
Could that really be it? Did I just wear them down to nothing?😕

I need some advice here!
OB/GYN Discussion Thread in Women's Health ·
Gregory Nguyen4 said:Following some advice from the forums (recommendations from a thread posted maybe a year or two ago), I switched over to seeing Dr. Topalovic at the student health clinic.

First off, the guy has about 1,000 patients, so he spreads his kindness so thin it basically disappears when you actually need an individual touch. When I say 1,000, I’m not even exaggerating much. 😁 .

Second, the appointments are timed so that everyone gets—according to his sister—exactly five minutes, including the paperwork. 👎

Third, you can only book on the first of the month. If you happen to call at 1:39 PM (working hours start at 1:30 PM, for example), you get the "privilege" of an appointment on the 23rd or 27th. Everything else is already gone. I honestly wonder who they're saving those slots for. 🙄 If you call on the 2nd of the month, there's nothing left for that month. 😢 .

Fourth, the nurse storms out into the waiting room and, in front of the whole crowd—and yeah, some women bring their boyfriends along—starts grilling people on what they need. I once mentioned to her that I needed a referral for an STD test 😁
Just so she could look it up. Unbelievable. What can you even do?

Fifth, once you finally see this "distinguished" doctor (assuming he hasn't canceled on you because he has a prenatal class or some other excuse to push you back two weeks), he immediately directs you to his private practice where service is supposedly "fast and efficient."
Talk about a conflict of interest. But since the nurse clearly hates my guts, I won't go telling him he's doing something borderline illegal; she wouldn't take me as a patient even if I were dying.

Like I said, I haven't seen him in 35 years. It's not like my sister-in-law is his best friend's godmother or anything like that.

Maybe that's just my problem.
🙄

I see Dr. Topalovic, and honestly, I have nothing but praise for him. In the ten years I've been going to him, I've never had a single issue. He and his nurse have never been anything but polite. I actually have his number, and if I ever needed to ask him something, he was always kind and respectful. If he wasn't, I would've switched doctors ages ago.
....It gets crowded, sure, but when I go for an exam, I try to show up right when they open, or I'll ask the nurse if I can squeeze in because I have a little baby, and she'll let me in before my turn. Once, she even squeezed me in when there was absolutely no space...
I think saying he has 1,000 patients might be a bit of an exaggeration...

Uncle Branko said:Honey, don't overthink it. Just make sure you're burning more than you're eating. It’s really that simple!

Hey Uncle Branko, thanks for the lovely advice. 😉

....Look, I'm not wearing myself out. We were just messing around on the stairmasters for fun. I'm not obsessing over every single calorie count; my main goal is just seeing the scale go down and making sure I get some movement in every day. I haven't cut anything out of my diet entirely. 🙂 But if I slip up a little one day, I just tighten things up the next. 😁 Plus, I stop eating heavy stuff after 6 PM—maybe just some fruit or something light. 🙂

...I've already dropped 12 pounds, and honestly, I'm feeling great. 🙂 🎉 😵

shadowviper24 said:So I hit the gym today, then hopped on my bike right after. Now all these gadgets are out here trying to track every single little thing.
I was absolutely livid when I saw the numbers. Ten minutes of pure cardio—and I was drenched, just straight-up dripping sweat everywhere—only to find out I burned a measly 80 calories? Honestly, I was fuming.
I can polish off a hundred grams of chocolate in sixty seconds flat. That’s about 500 calories gone before I even realize what happened.
I’m officially throwing in the towel. From here on out, it's nothing but light fruit yogurts for me. 🙂

So, I picked up one of those mini stepper machines. My godmother—who’s been my best friend since we were little kids—has one too, but hers is a slightly different model than mine. We both decided to get on them every single day for about 35 minutes to see what happens. Well, we started comparing our calorie counts, and things are getting weird. When she does her half-hour session, the machine says she burns 160 calories. When I do my 35-minute workout, mine claims I’ve burned 550. Then, just to test it, I tried hers, and it told me I only burned 350 calories before I hopped off. Seriously, what is going on here? Is anyone else dealing with this kind of nonsense?😕
She says she’s taking it slower.
I messed up a little today. I polished off a slice of pizza and a glass of Coke, so my punishment was a brutal 50-minute workout. Honestly, I’m lucky I didn't just throw in the towel entirely.😁
I think I'm done.😁 You’re wrong. Fifty minutes isn't enough time to take down a bull.😁

Same here. I managed to hold out for a month and a half—almost two, actually. Way to go, me.👋

Guzo said:Look, any kind of exercise is a win.🙂>

Karen White13, listen—if you’re just doing warm-ups, mobility work, and stretching,
you really need to shake things up a bit.
Try jumping rope or some HIIT once in a while.😉>

A solid session should run about 90 minutes.
(That includes your warm-up, mobility drills, high-intensity work, rest periods, and cooling down with stretches for the specific muscle groups you hit.)

And obviously, none of this works if your diet is garbage.

I’ve been sticking to all of it myself.🙄

I actually dropped two notches on my belt (about 2 inches off my waist).
Just a mix of working out and eating smarter.

Anyway, back to business.👋

Thanks.🙂 👋

Fifty to fifty-five minutes. And that’s just sitting there in the morning before I even head into work.

Please.😲 Look, man, give me a break. You’re asking me to wake up at 4:00 AM just to grind out a workout, only to spend the next hour getting myself and two kids ready for daycare and preschool? I don't even know. It's a lot.🙄
Why isn't anyone talking about this?😕 When will the sleeping beauty finally wake up?😕
Ear infections in Health ·
Justin Gonzalez87, you've gotta listen to the specialists when it comes to safety. Better safe than sorry, right? 🙂 My little guy dealt with ear and throat infections twice, and we got him on Pfizer immediately before things could spiral out of control. Those two scares were enough to keep me up at night, so I can only imagine what you're going through.

Just get it handled so everyone can finally breathe easy. Hang in there. 🙂 😉

Branko said:Aim for about 50 to 55 minutes, preferably first thing in the morning before you head into the office. Doing it in the afternoon is totally optional. Just check out what they have to say about it in the Zdragvlj wellness section under Yoga.
👋

Look, personally, I don't work, so I'm not planning on hitting any Yoga sessions. I just don't have the bandwidth for it, especially in the morning. I stick to my stepper machine instead. I actually asked Guzu how much longer I should be running my 35-minute sessions to see results.🙂 😉

Anyway, Branko, hope you have a great workout. Enjoy.👋

Look, I'm out there grinding every single day for 35 minutes straight.🙂

So, in your opinion, how much training do I actually need?😕
