briskgull27 said:Not everyone is quite as open as I am right now

Personally, I think this whole thing is pointless. 👎
I mean, what’s there to be ashamed of? If someone can just own who they are and actually talk about it—honestly, I think that’s usually more helpful than hiding.
Take my brother, for instance. He was diagnosed with vertigo—that whole dizzy, spinning sensation—and he didn't hesitate to tell all his friends straight up. And you know what? They just took it in stride, like it was no big deal at all.

briskgull27 said:The brain is made of matter, but what on earth is the soul actually composed of?

It isn't just some physical substance. 😬

The soul is... well, it's like air. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 I remember reading somewhere—or maybe I just imagined it, my memory is shot—that when a person passes away, they release their soul, and the body becomes lighter by a few grams, or an ounce, or something like that... I can't quite recall the exact measurement. 😵
But look, those of us who believe in God know deep down that the soul is so much more than just a puff of air!😍

briskgull27 said:In the words of Anne: What exactly are you trying to treat if not the brain??? Air??? The soul?????
Why is everyone so obsessed with physical matter anyway?

Oh, please—I am not afraid of anything! Especially not some "core essence" or "matter"! Matter actually fascinates me!

d. Laing thought it wasn't just about the chemistry...

I'm "listening"... 🙂to what Laing actually had to say... 🙂

briskgull27 said:Haha, but according to official statistics, you're looking at just 1% of the population.

Well, I mean... when it comes to those official numbers... I've definitely read up on that stuff... 🤣 🤣 🤣

But what I actually meant was right here on this forum—because, honestly, a handful of people have already mentioned having schizophrenia—so, I figured—let's just count them, how many of them are actually hanging out on this board.

briskgull27 said:Oh, the ocean... mmmm, man, there is just nothing like the ocean.
Teaching your brother, huh??? Well, maybe he's just someone who's very sensory-oriented!😁 😁
As for me, it’s clear why I’m here—what else would I be doing? It isn't really an addiction; you just sit at home and talk to people, it's that easy.
And you know what the paradox is? I’m actually afraid of people—not everyone, obviously, just certain types you meet in crowded places. It might sound strange given what the person above said about having a vision that almost came true, but for me, this thread is part of that reality.👍 😁

And you know what? I actually asked this before... but absolutely nobody gave me an answer... 😬 it was something along the lines of—hey, how many of you are actually out there? 🙂 I mean, specifically on this "schizo" thread? 😍

Donna Campbell6 said:I know this girl from SCH. Haven't actually seen her in two years, though. She’s got a computer. When she’s doing alright, she gets stuff done, handles the practical side of things, passes her exams, and basically acts like SCH doesn't even exist. But when things go south... man, she falls apart so hard she wouldn't even be able to turn the computer on. Or so it seemed to me once...

Man, what actually happens inside the brain of someone with schizophrenia? Beyond all that chemical imbalance talk you guys were hitting on earlier?😕 Is it really just a matter of chemistry?😕

briskgull27 said:Honestly, since we’ve known each other for so long, I can tell you straight up: I would absolutely die on a boat. I tried it once, and it was just not my thing at all.

I’m doing well, actually—maybe even a little better than usual. Still, nobody from SCH has reached out yet. Are they just being completely crazy, or did they lose their computers or something? Who knows! Anyway, how about you??😁 🙂

Personally, I thought being on a ship was absolutely wonderful...😍 I mean, you look ahead—ocean. You look behind you—ocean. Left? Ocean. Right? More ocean!😍 I didn't even feel like I was on a boat at all... 🙂

So... yeah... I'm okay... everything is more or less fine... just don't ask me again until next week... I have two exams coming up... next week...

So, I was actually trying to teach my brother the ropes of how to navigate a forum today...
and oh my god, he doesn't know a single thing!!!! 😂 😱 It really hit me lately just how obsessed everyone has become with being online... even my friend—who, mind you, was asking me just a month ago, "Why on earth do you spend so much time on the internet and forums?"—she's totally hooked now too.

And people are so terrified of anything labeled "schizophrenic." They're scared of people with schizophrenia. And we end up right back where we started—with all those old prejudices... they just don't get it...

At least, that's how I see it.👎

briskgull27 said:I hear you, though I haven't really let myself get carried away with any big plans lately. That's my issue. But the last time I actually treated myself to a trip to Greece, I managed to head out within just two weeks. Okay, fine, it was super last minute.

I’m definitely Sch because, honestly, if I don't stay on top of my meds, my brain just feels like it's freezing over—or maybe turning to cement.
I don't deal with hallucinations or voices telling me what to do.

I'd probably be an astronaut if I were healthy—though maybe that's linked to the fact that I genuinely don't care if something major happens or not. In my wildest dreams, though, I can see myself experiencing something like when the Vulcans arrive in First contact.😍

And please, don't go shaving your head: imagination, visualization, or just having plans in your head doesn't count as schizophrenia.
STAY STRONG!!!!!
🙂 🙂

Well, I’ve been to Greece too! 👋
And specifically Athens! 👋
We even took a boat! 👋
And I mean one of those humongous, massive ocean liners! 👋

🙂

Anyway... how have you been lately? 😘 How’s everything going? 😘 😬 I haven't been checking this forum much recently...
Seriously, these new emojis are driving me insane—can we please just bring back the old ones already?

Jason Sanchez3 said:So, something wild just happened. I’m sitting in a coffee shop, sipping my latte and reading the news, when I notice these two sixteen-year-olds sitting right next to me—apparently aspiring stylists, if I overheard correctly. They were gossiping about music, basically calling some friend a total idiot because she doesn't listen to mainstream pop. Just such a shallow, pointless conversation... nothing smart at all. Then comes the kicker. One asks the other, "So, what does, let's call her Ann, actually listen to?" I have no clue, maybe metal or something, like the Red Hot Chili Peppers (lol) or whatever else is even out there"

Is that actually possible? Like, how deep does this go?

I might honestly have to change my entire identity just so nobody accidentally associates me with that Ann person.... 🤣 🤣 🤣
urbannomad12 said:Please don't criticize me for letting this topic wander—it actually perfectly illustrates the populist psychology at play here. It seems some people just won't ever agree on this, much like they won't on politics.

Who actually listens to folk-pop? Your average listener probably finished a trade school, served in the military, and then spent six months hunting for work. He’s likely still living with his mom, which gives him enough cash to head out and blow $500-$333 in a madhouse over the weekend. He never cared for history class, so after spending Friday losing his mind to songs by the ex-wife of some notorious North American warlord, he'll spend Saturday at a Johnny Štulić concert, shouting slogans along with an energized crowd of like-minded folks.
From Monday to Thursday, he'll be at work retelling stories about how wild the weekend was—and then Friday rolls around and it all starts over again.
That's the mediocre cycle: living like that until he hits 30, marries some girl he pumped up, has a kid, and suddenly has neither the time nor the desire for music or partying.

There’s really no point in taking these people seriously because there's no substance there. They just jump to those songs because they can follow the lyrics. There isn't a movement behind them like there was for New Wave, Grunge, or even the rise of Techno. They aren't out there preserving a Bob Dylan LP or a scrap of paper where Johnny Štulić wrote "Slut's Sons." I preserve things—and that's why my stuff will last forever. Ceca, on the other hand, is only good until Sunday morning.

Eric Robinson81 said:Why on earth did you allow them to use electroshock therapy on you? That kind of treatment is incredibly taxing on the body.
And if a nurse was actually yelling at you like that, why didn't you file a complaint with the head nurse, the chief of medicine, or even Medicare?

Wait, why exactly is it harmful? 😢

Man, it’s exhausting... I feel like I'm constantly stuck listening to these "normal" people
Clearly, I haven't reached my final form as a total degenerate just yet.

Look, honey—there's no such thing as "normal" versus "not normal"! We're all just the same flavor of mediocre!🙂😛

Since I’m such a thorough person—clearly—I end up feeling like an absolute idiot every single time someone asks me how I'm doing.
I just can't seem to find the right way to say it.

So, how are you holding up?

...one of my friends actually gets offended when people ask her how she is... 🙄 she's just like, "Well, how else would I be? Obviously I'm fine!" 🙄
