Why am I not losing weight? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Do you think drinking too much coffee actually slows down your metabolism?
I honestly think it might be true, though I can't say for sure—I've read so many different things lately that my head is spinning.

What do you mean by messing with your metabolism?
From what I understand, caffeine triggers the release of stomach acid, which gets even more intense when you're digesting proteins. The problem is that protein and fats don't exactly play well together during digestion. Wouldn't it be better to drink your coffee after a high-protein meal rather than right after something fatty? Of course, it’s hard to separate the two since meat and cheese both have plenty of fat, but maybe eating some bread along with it would help make that fat easier to digest.

You really need to be mindful of what you’re putting in your body; focus on non-toxic foods that actually help kickstart your metabolism, so think more fruits and veggies. If you're a heavy coffee drinker, I'd suggest cutting back on the caffeine a bit, too. And honestly, what's with the half-liter of milk late at night? It would be much better for your calcium intake if you just had some yogurt or something similar in the morning instead... plus, try switching to green tea or another herbal variety in the evening—just make sure it's unsweetened, of course.
I'm having the exact same issue... there must be something going on in the atmosphere

If you wreck your liver, your estrogen levels will spike, so don't be surprised if you start developing breasts or extra weight around your hips.👍

Honestly, that sounds like total nonsense to me. I drink beer in massive quantities all the time, and I haven't noticed any changes to my chest or anything like that.

My mother actually just gave me an earful about how dentists have discovered that almost all carbonated drinks, aside from sparkling mineral water (which they aren't even 100% sure about yet), absolutely wreck your enamel and contribute to periodontal disease.

So, basically, if you want to avoid having a smile 😬 skip the soda.

I'm still holding out hope that I'll get my ticket to the White House 🙂
not to mention it doesn't just attack your teeth; it also leaches calcium, which can weaken your bones, and it irritates the stomach lining, potentially leading to ulcers (especially for anyone dealing with gastritis).

Knock on wood.

My doctor actually suggested that I try letting my body heal itself first rather than jumping straight to medication, and honestly, I think she’s right. I make it a point not to take any pills or drugs unless it's absolutely necessary.
Well, what can you do? Even medical experts can't agree on everything; every approach has its own set of pros and cons. At the end of the day, we aren't in a position to decide what the absolute best route is—honestly, even they don't have all the answers.

It only lasted about two days for me... I try to be as careful as possible with my diet, but I eventually realized it was being triggered by my daily pads. I've stopped using them altogether now. 😉
My doctor assured me that it isn't something you can catch through sexual contact, either.
Anyone have experience with acupuncture? in Health ·
My mom actually lost 20 pounds once, but then she ended up gaining 35 back...
It’s pretty expensive, too, and you really need to have an incredible amount of willpower before you even bother starting; don't go into it thinking the process itself will give you the motivation... it's really just a little bit of help along the way.
That said, there are definitely people out there who have successfully used acupuncture to drop weight and actually keep it off...
And there are folks who have managed to quit smoking that way, too.
Question about cancer in Health ·
It’s all because you're terrified that cancer will strike, but it won't ever touch you. 🙂
I deal with those same constant fears about cancer myself... though
it won't come my way since I'm just too much of a happy soul anyway.
Dealing with static electricity shocks? in Health ·
Aaron Jackson said:The air in your office or wherever you spend most of your time might just be way too dry. You should probably try fixing that.

Besides switching up your footwear, you could also look at what you're wearing.

Synthetic fabrics and wool tend to build up static electricity through friction.

Yeah, I can tell—the air is definitely bone dry...
thanks

Touch the tester to some kind of ground, and you’ll feel a discharge; it might be subtle, maybe just a tiny flicker of the indicator light.
If you still feel a distinct shock through the device during that discharge, let me know, and I can walk you through how much you need to increase the internal resistor.
Hope that helps.

Wait, where am I even supposed to pick up one of those testers?
And what exactly do you mean by "ground"? 😁

Aaron Jackson said:Try avoiding synthetic fabrics. Swap out your shoes, too.

If there's a metal radiator nearby, try touching it once in a while to bleed off some of that static buildup.

I can't exactly swap my shoes—I only own one pair... and as for the radiator... it didn't really do much, but thanks anyway. 🙂

Oh, thanks! I started taking those showers and it really did the trick. 🙂))

Hey everyone! Does anyone know how to get rid of this static electricity?
I am seriously buzzing right now!!! My hair is practically standing on end toward the ceiling... my clothes are sticking to me constantly... everything I touch gives me a tiny shock!!! Even just taking off my sweater feels like watching a firework display!
This is getting ridiculous... how can I make it stop?
Should I lie down on the floor? Or should I just stick my fingers in an outlet???
Heeelllppppppp!!!!

I posted the link above because it really got my gears turning, but I want to hear from you all—how long do you honestly think you'll stick around?

With the way modern medicine is headed and all this tech progress, I’m personally banking on hitting the 150 to 200-year mark.
That’s assuming I get lucky with a few organ transplants and just stay out of trouble.

Unless, of course, I find a way to live forever... maybe with an Alexander ring.

Are you out of your mind?
I'm just happy if I make it through a third of that!😎
