Is life actually easier if you're good-looking? in Psychology ·

They overlap pretty a lot, right? Like when people say someone looks "like a million bucks."
Plus, let's be real—kids from wealthy families usually have a better shot at growing up healthy and good-looking. They get taken care of, they get invested in, and if there’s any genetic issue, money fixes it.
Meanwhile, folks living in poverty can go downhill fast, even if they start out perfectly healthy and fit.
But honestly, looking past all that, I think this sums it up best:

"People divide themselves into rich and poor, old and young, beautiful and ugly, healthy and sick, smart and dumb, but all those splits are totally irrelevant compared to the one final, deciding line: the division between the strong and the weak."
Ernest Hemingway - 'Playing with the Devil's Tail'😉

If that were true, developed countries would just be full of gorgeous people... but idk, personally I feel like you see way more attractive people in Latin America, certain African countries, the Middle East, India, or even Eastern Europe than you do in the United States, Canada, England, Germany, or the Netherlands...
That whole logic only really works if you're extremely poor, like struggling to even put food on the table... because if we went by that rule, the super rich would all be models, which isn't exactly the case. Most of the hot people I've seen are actually middle class or even a bit on the lower side...
Personally, I've run into the most good-looking people in the middle or lower-middle class...

At the end of the day, besides some physical stuff, what actually makes someone beautiful is just being happy and content on the inside—regardless of how much cash they have or whatever.

Terry Gray60 said:well, that's kind of a generalization. i don't think looks are everything when it comes to who you become as a person. sure, maybe a little bit, but judging someone's entire character just by their face? nah. though, if you're walking through a crowd of strangers, being hot probably gives you a bit of an edge, i guess.

I dunno about all those claims—i remember back in elementary school, there were maybe one or two cute girls who got way more attention from both classmates and teachers. they were the popular ones. but in high school, i don't know, things totally flipped. there were a few good-looking kids, but they didn't necessarily stand out more than everyone else; some were hotter, some weren't, some people liked them more than others. the only time it really mattered was if you were, like, superoooo ugly. looking around now, it seems like for the pretty people, guys mostly just wanted to hook up, but honestly, plenty of guys wanted me too, even though i'm definitely no supermodel. at least that's my take.
As for success, i think confidence plays a way bigger role. plus, if you happen to be good-looking on top of that, even better. i've known gorgeous people with zero confidence who ended up struggling big time, working dead-end jobs or dealing with partners who treat them like garbage.
Then you've got the people who aren't much to look at, or just totally average, but they've got massive confidence and life just sort of works out for them. throw in a lucky relationship here and there, and boom—they're living the dream before you can even blink.😎
