I'm trying to upload this one photo but I'm totally hitting a wall, no matter how much I shrink it. What gives? It says mine is like 160-something KB, but the limit is only 9... and I already resized it down to like 480 pixels...
Dana Gray84 said:So, let's say we've got two people who are basically identical on the inside—I mean, they're both totally confident, super happy with how their lives are turning out, whatever that looks like for them... there isn't a single psychological difference between them, right? The only thing separating them is pure aesthetics. One person is just, you know, conventionally attractive—nothing mind-blowing, but pleasant to look at. Then you have the other one, who’s got these massive ears, maybe hasn't shaved in a few days 🙂, has one eye that sits a little higher than the other, and carries a jagged scar across their face because a neighbor's Pitbull went a bit too wild when they were five years old...
Who actually has it easier in this world? I mean, really think about it. If you're walking down a busy street in Chicago and someone stops you to ask for directions, who are you more likely to help first? Or if you're standing in line at a Starbucks and someone cuts ahead, who gets the benefit of the doubt? Who gets that polite smile and the helping hand during an introduction?
Wait a sec, you're describing Frankenstein, not a regular person... lol. As for me, I'd let both of them cut in line, and yeah, I'd shake hands with both. The only thing that really affects my vibe is how someone carries themselves... if that "scary" looking person acts all tough and aggressive I was watching some cannibal horror movie last night and those guys were seriously gnarly. I'd definitely be terrified of someone like that
restlessmarlin6 said:Look, I wasn't talking about rejecting people just for the hell of it. I mean, what kind of woman would actually turn down a guy she’s genuinely into? 😁
What I'm trying to say is that men hitting on women is way more common than the other way around—at least here in the States. 😬
Personally, I only turn people down if I'm just not feeling it... like, if I only want to be friends, I'll be super blunt about it. That's usually where the friction happens since they're looking for something more and I'm just not there. I don't reject guys I actually dig... but they gotta have the whole package for me.
Charles Grant7 said:1) Honestly, anyone would look twice at someone getting a 100% on a written test. It’s not a common occurrence, especially if it hasn't happened to that person before. And besides, what did she mean by looking at you strangely? My professor used to give me weird looks just because I had long hair, so I just ignored it. 2) Men would hit on anyone. If you happen to be attractive, that's just a given. 3) Maybe you're actually annoying people with being overly polite. Personally, I can't stand people I barely know who act excessively sweet. It feels fake, like they're desperately searching for a friend.
None of what you wrote convinces me that you're particularly hot, let alone as passionate as you claim to be. You might want to consider that the issue lies with your behavior rather than your looks.
Charles Grant7 has a point... I've had similar stuff happen to me, minus the whole exam thing... and I'm nothing special, at least that's my take.
As for guys hitting on everyone—man, if they get the chance, most of them definitely would. And about them talking about what they'd do to you... hmm, I don't know. They probably wouldn't say all that if you weren't so attractive... though it might not even be your face, could just be how you dress, like wearing mini skirts or low-cut tops and stuff.
Beauty is super fleeting. Like, first off, 90% or more of what we see doesn't even hit that "ideal" standard shown in the media... it’s all just industry, ads, and massiveeee big business. And from my experience, honestly? What’s going on inside your head matters way more than looks in every single part of life. Sure, people notice how you look and you might get more attention or some random advances, but if you’re a total mess—or just plain dumb—you aren't gonna get very far... Same goes if you're just average or even unattractive. I'm not talking about extreme outliers here, just regular folks. If you're smart and have your head on straight, you can have a beautiful, really great life... It's all internal, trust me. It's about who you are as a person, whether you're being true to yourself, accepting who you are, and if you're putting out those good vibes..
Man, you guys are really oversimplifying everything and just grouping it all together... Sure, physical attraction matters when you first meet someone of the opposite sex, but that’s more about "chemistry," which isn't always about being a supermodel... I remember this one guy I liked—he was kind of short, had blond hair, maybe 160ish, and a bit of a stocky build... but man, he just had so much charm and charisma. He totally won me over way more than his buddy, who was definitely better looking but kept hitting on me constantly.
As for how things work with women... I don't know, I guess I have this coworker who gets hit on all the time even though, objectively speaking, she isn't exactly a knockout... It seems like it's more about having that spark, being witty, smart, or just having that magnetic personality rather than raw beauty. I've definitely known gorgeous women who were so serious and intense that hardly anyone approached them—or if they did, it wasn't nearly as much as the girls who are way more down-to-earth looking..
nimblewolf25 said:hahahhaha🤣 who’s the genius that suggested we need subtitles for movies from our neighbors?🤣 alright folks, here’s my two cents🙂 everyone knows those guys have a killer sense of humor—way better than ours... and honestly, without their specific slang and way of joking around, they wouldn't be half as funny.. so what, am I supposed to sit there reading subtitles for an American movie? 😕 and what about comedies that just won't land unless you hear them exactly how they say it? if we try to translate all that local flavor, the whole thing's gonna end up being total garbage.. seriously people, it’s not like it’s another continent or some foreign language.. we understand perfectly fine what’s being said, and Americans aren't exactly a bunch of idiots who need everything translated when the language is basically identical.. man, I swear, the nonsense I hear lately...😵
Nicholas Walker3 said:American is a foreign language, so obviously any movie in a foreign tongue needs subtitles. I don't get what you're rambling about—most kids these days know enough English that movies still end up needing subs anyway!
They might know some English, but not nearly enough to actually catch everything in a movie. Honestly, even as a translator who lived abroad... it's the same struggle for me. Kids can mumble their way through some English, sure, but they're nowhere near grasping films at the level of our own language... Just subtitle the local stuff like Grayson and a few other small towns someone mentioned... I'm definitely against this idea.
In theory, I understand those movies way better than I do Grayson... lol. I guess I'm just closer to Savannah.
steeldrifter8 said:I'm with you. But how are you supposed to get that confidence if you aren't born pretty?...
Honestly, if you already feel good about your looks, you've got nothing to worry about regarding confidence... seriously. If you aren't talking about yourself but someone else, just go chat with them and help them see they look great—but don't stop at just their face or body. Don't make it *all* about looks though, because that can get messy for a few reasons, not just for them but for everyone else involved.
Girl, I totally feel you... I'm a woman too and we are basically cut from the same cloth. Just keep being your authentic self—people who actually matter will vibe with you just fine. If someone can't handle the real you, then honestly? They don't need to be in your circle. There are plenty of people out there who will genuinely appreciate what you bring to the table, instead of those shallow, trend-obsessed clones who spend all day judging everyone else. Thank goodness for that.👍
Bryan Booth73 said:Maybe the people around you just aren't vibing with you, so they’re projecting this version of you that totally feels fake. Like, it’s not even your personality, right? Just some weird label they stuck on you. Honestly? Try being a little obnoxious for a bit. Just to see what happens.👍 I can't see any text to rewrite! Send over the posts you want me to tackle, and I'll get to work making them sound like they were written right here in the States. Just drop the content whenever you're ready. 👍
Wait, how do you figure the world isn't on my side? Like, walk me through that. Why would people get this vibe from me that I don't even recognize in myself? I don't really get it. I always figured if you're just vibing in your own skin, that's how people are gonna see you... if you're feeling shaky, anxious, or totally closed off, then yeah, that's probably how you'll come across to everyone else.
Just because you see her as some total bombshell doesn't mean guys actually feel that way... I’ve got this one friend who looks incredible when she puts in the effort, but honestly, men seem pretty indifferent toward her most of the time. They rarely even approach her. Whenever we're out at a bar or something, it’s always her other girlfriends getting all the attention... I don't think she just radiates that kind of raw magnetism. Men can usually sense that vibe, and that's when they move in.
I guess for me, it comes down to some insecurity or maybe just being totally unaware of my own energy... it applies to both guys and girls, really. People can pick up on those vibes where they think they can easily manipulate someone through a look, body language, or just an attitude... which isn't even how I actually am, it's just how I come off sometimes... though lately, I'm not really letting anyone pull that stuff on me anymore... so people end up getting the wrong idea.
Yeah, there’s definitely some truth to that. I know I can be pretty unsure of myself—well, maybe not even "unsure" so much as just totally oblivious... but then again, whenever I actually try to act confident, nobody even bothers talking to me. Or if they do, it's always people looking for a second mom rather than a peer...
Larry Torres4 said:..it’s possible you’re just projecting something that draws those kinds of people toward you.. it's not the end of the world, but I don't think you'll figure out what's actually going on without some help (like a good therapist)..
And hey, maybe I am projecting... gotta work on my vibe, like you already told me...
wiredrider2 said:I honestly used to wonder the same thing, and I still catch myself thinking about it sometimes.
It’s not really like people just stick to us; it’s more like we’re the ones picking who we hang out with and call friends in the first place.
Why do you keep making the same mistakes? Because you clearly haven't learned the lesson yet. Think about WHAT YOU NEED TO LEARN, actually learn it, stop hanging out with those same types of people, and find a NEW CROWD... trust me, they won't be running in the same circles you've been stuck in until now...
Am I overthinking this?
Man, once those types of people get under your skin, it's so hard to shake 'em off...
I’ve been wondering lately... is there some weird reason why girls or women like me always seem to attract the wrong crowd? Like, why do I keep getting hit on by guys who just aren't great people? I'm talking about types with massive egos, super frustrated dudes, or just generally awkward, sketchy characters... does that actually mean something is wrong with me? Am I somehow attracting this energy because I'm a bad person too?
For most people, the "meaning of life" follows this exact script: finish high school, get through college, maybe grab some trade school, get married, find a job (or vice versa), have kids, raise them until they're grown, retire, chill out, spoil the grandkids, and then eventually kick the bucket... In the meantime, "purpose" basically boils down to paying off a mortgage, car loans, God knows what else, eating, and sex (if you can even call it that)—which, honestly, usually dies a slow death once marriage and kids enter the picture... I’m 35 now, and looking at that cycle just doesn't do it for me. That whole lifestyle described above? It’s definitely not my path. I don't have a career, I don't own a house, and I don't have a partner or kids... Am I happy? Not exactly, but from what I see, the people actually following that traditional path seem even less happy than I am... I still have all this freedom while everyone else has traded theirs away, but honestly? What am I supposed to do with it? That's the big question. Right now, I don't even know myself, though plenty of wild ideas keep popping into my head... I guess I'm just searching for some kind of purpose, something to actually feel fulfilled by... For instance, one thing I absolutely love—where everything else just fades away—is dancing. When I'm out there performing and totally losing myself to the music, my body just moves on its own... Another thing is intimacy. And I don't mean just "sex," I mean true, deep connection... one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had. Thirdly, there's that feeling when you completely lose yourself in something, where you're 100% focused and nothing else exists... which kind of ties back to those first two things... Man, you really have to get to know yourself deeply to figure out what you actually want and what you're capable of. And trust me, willpower can work absolute miracles...😉
