Honestly, it doesn't even phase me anymore. I get the feeling most of the frustration from the medicine crowd starts back during their freshman year. (Since I did my dentistry training in Cleveland, I ended up sharing a few classes with the med students.) It mostly seems to come from people who actually wanted to go into medicine but couldn't make the cut for it. Back then, they’d constantly look down on us, acting like we were just taking some "shortened" version of their degree... It’s laughable, really. No matter how hard they try to belittle dentistry, they're really just projecting their own failures onto anyone else under the same general umbrella. It used to get under my skin, but not anymore. These days, I just try to give the medical types a wide berth...☕
A jellyfish stung me too. I peed on it immediately and honestly, the pain just died down pretty fast. Apparently, the ammonia in urine helps neutralize the venom. For me, everything settled in about two or three hours. That said, if the idea of using your own pee grosses you out—which, fair enough—just carry some ammonia around with you. You can grab a bottle of it at any local CVS or Walgreens.
😵 My blood pressure is through the roof with this weather. Honestly, I think taking some aspirin might be helping clear my head a little bit...
Someone on here mentioned that guarana works wonders... might have to give that a shot...
Modern neuroscience basically says that if you can squeeze in about 4 hours of sleep, your brain neurons have enough to get by. You just cycle through a few REM and non-REM stages, top off your ATP, and call it a day. Your body—you know, the muscles and stuff—needs closer to 8 hours, but honestly, who cares much about that? 🙂
I had no idea that one even existed. If there's no alcohol in it, then we're golden. Honestly, just go ahead and use it.
Tea tree oil is hands down the strongest natural antiseptic you can find. People always say propolis is the ultimate natural antibiotic, too. Tea tree works wonders for those little skin irritations, though—just don't go putting it on mucous membranes. Even essential oils shouldn't touch those sensitive spots.
Yeah, I’m with you on that. If you want to actually use propolis, it basically has to be dissolved in alcohol to work right...
Chris Wright4 said:Apipro is great for canker sores, gums, or damaged mucosa, but it won't touch a virus. I actually tried using it instead of Virolex once, and my mouth swelled up three times worse overnight. 😢 I have one question, though. Over the last few months, my herpes outbreaks have been way more frequent than usual. Is it possible my boyfriend is triggering them? He also has herpes, but he hasn't had an outbreak yet (so far). It sounds kind of stupid, but I don't know how else to explain this sudden surge. Usually, I deal with it maybe once a year, but this year I think I've had it ten times! And it's not even like I'm under any major stress right now... 😕
That’s absolutely not possible. You only catch it the first time, usually during childhood—that's called primary Herpes Simplex, specifically gingivostomatitis herpetica. Everything after that is just recurrent flare-ups. Basically, it's just Herpes simplex recidivans.
Also, seriously, stop using that Apipro spray. The alcohol concentration is way too high and it ends up doing much more damage to your mouth than helping. Mucous membranes just don't handle alcohol well. Alcohol is a disinfectant; you shouldn't be spraying it directly on sensitive tissue. Plus, there's statistically significant evidence (0.95 T) that mouthwashes containing even a little alcohol increase the long-term risk of oral cancer. Try to steer clear of that spray. Propolis is fine, just not the stuff dissolved in alcohol.
Honestly, the absolute best way to jumpstart your system is just sitting down to a massive, solid breakfast. That’s how you actually wake up your body. Usually, once I've eaten enough, I don't even crave coffee—or if I really want some, a tiny little cup is plenty to do the trick.
So, there’s this one study floating around, but honestly, the methodology is pretty thin. They’re pointing to bone cancer as a primary tumor appearing more often during that age group, but I don't know—that feels like a bit of a stretch to me.
Systemic fluoride just doesn't cut it. It turns out trying to bake fluoride into your enamel from the inside out isn't actually a strong enough defense against the acids that eat away at your teeth and cause cavities. Local application—like using it directly on the teeth—is way more effective...
