Sandra Brooks91 said:Honestly, the MR setup just hits different every single time—plus, it doesn't have that weird radioactive vibe. You really just gotta grab some ear protection to drown out the noise.

Thanks so much, 🙂
Honestly, when even the doctors can't get their stories straight, you just know this forum is going to have an opinion 😬

So, I went to see my neurologist, and after a whole ordeal, they sent me off for more testing with this diagnosis:
G45.9 - transient cerebral ischemic attack, unspecified.

The specialist's report basically says I need to head out for:
A brain MSCT/MRI + MRA scan.

Then I go to my primary doctor to actually get the referral paperwork, and this person has absolutely no clue if they should be ordering a CT, an MRI, or whatever else—though, hey, at least some kind of referral was typed up. So, I send the thing over to the hospital to try and book my appointment, and this is the response I get back:

"It’s honestly hard to tell which specific test you actually need based on this referral.
Your doctor needs to decide what’s required, because even looking at the findings, it’s totally unclear.
The referral mentions an MRI, but then the requested procedure is listed as an MSCT.
An MRI is one thing, and an MSCT is something completely different."

😁 *facepalm*

Anyway, does we have any neurologists lurking around here who could give me some actual advice on which scan I should aim for given the diagnosis? Should I be pushing for the MRI or the MSCT?
So, I’ve got an appointment lined up with my gastroenterologist, and they told me I need to bring a whole bunch of lab results along with me (among other things):

• a full stool workup—everything from cultures and parasite screenings to biochemical analysis, checking for fat malabsorption or undigested food, plus cytology and occult blood tests

The big question on my mind is: how long does it actually take for all these results to come back?
Are we talking a day or two, or is it going to be way longer?
I have this nagging feeling in the back of my head that because of those parasite tests, it might take like 10 days, but honestly, I have no clue where that number came from 😳
If anyone could give me a heads-up on the turnaround time for these stool tests, I would be seriously grateful, because if that "10-day rule" is real, then Monday is officially my last chance to get this done.
🙂
Thanks, you beautiful people. 😍
Yeah, honestly, I’ve been sitting here thinking that those kids in the Class of '21 just don't have that certain... something, you know? It’s like they missed out on that specific vibe or whatever it was we had going on back then. 😢
Just like Henry Cox78 was saying, you don't just go out and buy yourself some high-level clickers—you have to actually earn them. 😢
Probably that’s where the real genius was hiding...
So, I’m actually planning on heading down to a local tobacco shop to pick up some Peveco and some loose tobacco. Honestly, it feels like one of those little ritualistic errands that just keeps me grounded, you know? Just grabbing my usual supplies and getting it over with. 😳 Honestly, I was just doing a quick run to Walmart, minding my own business, when I realized I’d completely blanked on half the stuff on my list. It’s one of those days where you feel like you're losing your grip on basic adulting, you know? Just standing there in the middle of the aisle, staring at the cereal boxes like they hold the secrets to the universe, feeling slightly ridiculous.

You're more than welcome! Happy to help out whenever you need it.
Marbles, speculators... honestly, I can't even remember what else people used to call them anymore 😳
So, basically, where on earth am I supposed to track some down today?
Like, which store actually carries them?
The kids playing out on the street have totally outgrown them, and all my old marbles are either lost forever or just tossed in a bin somewhere 😢
Seriously though, where can I grab some? Where? Anywhere? 🙂
(I’m mostly looking around the downtown area, but if anyone knows any other leads, please, don't hold back 😉)
Thanks, guys 🙂

edit: oh, and here's a pic of the slingshot

Dealing with HPV: Questions and advice? in Health ·
So, look, there isn't just one single HPV; there are all these different strains out there. Some of them are basically a walk in the park for women and they just clear right up, but then you've got the high-risk types that can actually cause some pretty serious issues if you aren't careful. But hey, like someone else mentioned on here, getting vaccinated is totally the way to go, so definitely do your homework and see where you can get it done. If you happen to be living around the Chicago area, I’d honestly suggest heading over to the youth clinic at Northwestern Memorial and asking for Dr. Miller—you should totally bring your partner along too, so you guys can just sit down and hash it all out together... she is seriously an absolute legend and knows her stuff inside and out.
Good luck with everything, regardless of what you decide 🙂
Is life actually easier if you're good-looking? in Psychology ·
Don’t you think it actually makes life even harder for attractive people if they’re fully aware of how good-looking they are? Like, I honestly feel like they can struggle with self-esteem just as much as anyone else, because no matter what they pull off, there's always that nagging little doubt in the back of their mind—is this praise actually for my hard work, or is the boss just being a suck-up because of my looks?
I mean, if everything seems to slide into place easier for them and they know it, then they run straight into that exact dilemma that briskowl85 was bringing up earlier...
And yeah, I’m totally with you on the whole actor thing... I mean, look at how many chunky, grumpy guys out there in Hollywood aren't exactly considered sex symbols...
Flu symptoms in Health ·
just one more 😎
it hit me like a freight train last Friday afternoon, and honestly, I can't even remember the last time I felt this absolutely trashed...
Let me expand on what I'm going through—do you guys ever get this sensation in your head where everything just feels like it "freezes"? I don't even know how to put it into words... it’s not like vertigo or dizziness, it’s just this momentary feeling that my brain, my whole consciousness, just hits a sudden freeze-frame😕 and then everything just snaps back to how it was. At first, I figured it was just the fever playing tricks on me, but now I'm starting to freak out because I've noticed that along with this "freezing" thing, my arms and legs start going numb too...
what on earth is happening to me???
Is this just some nasty bout of the flu??? Or is it something else entirely??? 😕
Please, someone tell me this is totally normal

man, I’d honestly love to sit down and just vibe to Neil Young, whether he’s going solo or rocking out with Crazy Horse. But this D, A, G track? It wouldn't even feel like that unknown song if you stripped away the lyrics. It would just be D, A, G. You could basically listen to Thompson doing the same thing; she knows how to string a few chords together and belt out whatever comes to mind. Take her new single "Friški"—that's a perfect example of that style.

I’m totally with Andrew Stewart2 on this one, because that’s exactly where the issue lies—when the singer isn't really singing, but more like they're just reciting the lyrics like a poem...
I’m honestly kind of floored by how many people claim they prefer the vocals to just be some background texture for the instruments—it’s wild. To me, there are certain artists where the voice is the entire soul of the track, and I feel like
they use their range and vocal power as the lead instrument itself. I'm talking about legends like Regina Spektor or Björk, and even looking closer to home, someone like Norah Jones (though, honestly, I'm not even sure what people mean when they call her "one of ours" 😬 since we're all over the map here)
. What do you guys think of
these musical examples?
So, I’ve been wondering—when you’re listening to instrumental or ambient tracks where there’s basically zero lyrical content, does it even register for you? Like, do the lyrics actually matter, or are they just the ultimate benchmark you use to decide if a song is a masterpiece or total garbage? I mean, do you actually need to grasp every single word to feel it?
It's like knowing people who don't have a clue how to speak Italian but will absolutely vibe out to some Eros Ramazzotti track without missing a beat. 😬
Or what about those moments when you realize someone did a "cover," but they did it in such a DIY, homemade way that it barely bears any resemblance to the original version?
Basically, what’s the deal: are you here for the music and the instruments, or is it all about the lyrics? Or maybe one of your favorite artists treats their voice less like a vehicle for storytelling and more like just another instrument in the mix, where the actual meaning of the words doesn't even matter as long as the vocals hit right? 😁 Personally, for me, the lyrics are huge, 😬 but then again, if I've got someone like Bruce Springsteen beltin' it out... honestly, I could almost not care what he's saying at all.

Michelle Fox15 said:Man, my playlist is kind of a total mess, honestly—it’s got a little bit of everything thrown in there. It all starts with that good old-school rock that basically set my entire musical compass, you know? We're talking the heavy hitters like Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and Janis Joplin. Then things take a turn into jazz, where I can just get lost in Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, or Nina Simone. I’ve also got a huge soft spot for reggae, so you'll definitely hear Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley, and stuff like Zion Train spinning around. Throw in some ethnic vibes, like some Irish or Cuban folk music, and you've got the whole spectrum covered. And honestly, there are just so many incredible artists I can't leave out—people like Nick Cave, Rundek, Johnny Cash, and even more of that soulful songwriting style you find in Johnny Cash. It's a bit of a chaotic mix, but it works for me.👍

It’s like I actually wrote this myself. 🤣
(except for Johnny Cash)
What is Emotional Intelligence? in Psychology ·
So, you've got a copy of Emotional Intelligence? I'm pretty sure you can find it sitting on the shelf at any local public library if you want to check it out... but honestly, what part of it are you actually digging into?

So, what kind of music is Lalix actually into? It's my first time hearing about them 😕
Quick digestion tips? in Health ·
Seriously, what a massive 🙏
I honestly can’t even remember the last time I had a "normal" digestive system—like, maybe things go okay for two days, but then it’s right back to this absolute disaster zone... Back in my hometown, the doctor was just so incredibly clueless; I’m trying to explain exactly what’s going on with me, telling her how I literally had to hit the restroom 16 times before I even felt brave enough to step foot out of the house... and nothing! She had zero clue what was happening to me. Then, purely by accident, I was digging through some books and stumbled upon something about irritable bowel syndrome—and I swear, I couldn't believe that what I've been dealing with actually has a name!!! 😬
It’s totally psychosomatic... at least in my case... and there is absolutely no way in hell I'm taking the bus—that would be a straight shot to social suicide 🙂
It’s not even that I need to run to the bathroom while I'm on the train, it’s just knowing that if I suddenly *really* need to, it's right there—you know, that feeling of security... 😍
I don't know... I'm just so relieved to finally find people who actually get it
Everyone else thinks I'm making the whole thing up when I end up running to the toilet 11 times in a row...
Sending big hugs to everyone 👋
