Maybe the real issue is just being overprotected. It’s a bit like how you can have total silence or complete social isolation, which often leaves you with nothing but a sad little smile.
We grow physically, sure, but growing mentally? That's a whole different beast. It’s more like this messy, complicated tangle of emotions buried deep in your subconscious.
What’s really interesting about how predictable everything is? It’s the fact that my mood mostly just hinges on the vibes of the people I’m actually talking to or even just sharing a room with.
It still blows my mind sometimes. You know when you're stuck waiting in line at a Starbucks or at a Chase bank, and you get that weird, surreal sensation where time just... stops? Like it’s dragging through molasses? {It feels surreal because sometimes I feel like I've moved past that, but then those old feelings just sneak right back in.}
So, I called it. A total nightmare. Well, maybe "nightmare" is too strong? It was more like a series of weird, choppy jolts. What really tripped me out, though, was how much nostalgia was baked into it. It wasn't even about what I saw; it was more about the sounds. Like, a heavy sense of longing triggered by things I heard in the dream.
It felt like my brain decided to dig up all those old fears and anxieties I haven't thought about in ages. Just dusting off the old ghosts, you know? Plus, the whole idea of autumn creeping up and the weather getting colder was weighing on me. It’s actually stressing me out a bit because of my commute—I’ve got this nagging fear of being late for work.
It’s wild how much I was overthinking while I was actually asleep. I was basically standing there in my own head, nitpicking myself! But when you think about it, we spend maybe 30 to 35 percent of our lives sleeping. That’s huge, right? And then there’s that extra 10 to 20 minutes every day spent drifting in and out of light sleep or waking up groggily. That adds up to a lot of mental processing.
Oh, and yesterday being a holiday probably played a role in the dream intensity. Holidays are like glitches in the matrix, aren't they? They break the routine that defines about 80 percent of our year. It changes the rhythm.
And man, the rain last night... it was heavy. We haven't had a downpour like that in a while. It started right at dusk, too. Honestly, that probably fueled the whole nostalgic vibe of the night.
placidwolf27 said:It’s difficult to prevent—honestly, almost impossible—but if you approach it with intention, maintaining a sense of objectivity, you end up gaining a certain kind of insight... you start noticing the patterns within the patterns, processing the mechanics of what you are as a system. In truth, that is what a conscious experience actually feels like...
Oh, absolutely. Those "loops within loops" are definitely noticeable. And when you mix that with nostalgia or even those moments where everything just goes blank? Yeah, that can get pretty confusing.
placidwolf27 said:Look, you don't really owe anyone an explanation—because if a person's internal inclinations and motives are all pulling in one specific direction, then they’re essentially just following a pre-set path toward that destination. And if that destination happens to be hell itself... well, wouldn't it be a relief if we could actually recalibrate our internal compass?
It seems to me that what drives us from within—our core motivations—dictates nearly everything about how we exist. It shapes our behavior, our opinions, our speech, our agreements, and our actions... both in the mundane day-to-day sense and in the grander, long-term sweep of a life. In this view, individual behaviors aren't really independent events; they're just momentary details serving a larger narrative that inevitably leads to a certain consequence.
If you take a closer look at the internal mechanics over any significant period, it becomes obvious that almost every action, every thought, and every pattern of behavior—in any sense of the word—is conditioned by these underlying motivations and orientations that we haven't consciously chosen... (with the exception, perhaps, of purely mechanical, practical tasks dictated by immediate necessity—like, I don't know, using the restroom, walking up a flight of stairs, parking a car, or carrying a heavy box. Though, even then, one might wonder why you found yourself in that specific parking lot, where those stairs were leading you in the first place, or why you were tasked with carrying that load at all...) Essentially, every result, every circumstance, the very act of living itself, is tethered to these subconscious drivers.
It also becomes clear that while choice exists, it isn't exactly transparent, nor is it easy—and frankly, it isn't always even possible. Even when a choice *is* available, it often runs directly contrary to our deepest desires. At that point, there simply isn't a desire strong enough to counter the primary one; there's no willpower greater than the existing impulse, no motive capable of overriding the original drive.
Furthermore, the whole thing relies heavily on some sort of internal authority—a sense of inner sovereignty—which, it appears, is frequently lacking, fragmented, or simply devoid of strength.
And so, everything just unfolds according to these "motives." Life just happens. When you look back at it, it feels as though someone—or something—has been puppeteering you, moving you along like a character in a stop-motion animation...
Here’s the thing: you’re always going to be better off if you can stay as independent as possible without feeling like you have to explain your every move to everyone else.
I’m still out here searching for purpose. Honestly, one of my biggest goals is just to use this whole journey to grow as much as I can on a spiritual level.
I'm 26 years old, and honestly? Those defense mechanisms have been running the show for way too long now. It makes finding the strength to just deal with life in the present moment a little harder sometimes.
So, here’s the deal. It’s summer, we’ve got those long, sweltering days and even warmer nights, and lately, I just can't seem to stay awake during the day {even though I’m getting a solid 6 to 8 hours of sleep at night}
The worst part is when I try to take a quick little nap in the afternoon, thinking it’ll just be a quick 10 or 20 minutes, you know? But instead, I end up out cold for an hour, sometimes even ninety minutes.
Also, it's weird—I rarely even sweat if it's under 85 degrees, even if I'm being active. In past summers, I used to sweat way more than this. Is my circulation just sluggish, or am I actually becoming heat-resistant?
I’ve been trying to take some lessons to heart lately, focusing on how to actually zero in on what makes me happy. For a long time, my thoughts were just all over the place, wasn't they? I spent way too much time dwelling on things where I couldn't quite see my own potential—even though I’m starting to discover those talents bit by bit now. Even when I'm out in nature, I’m working on being more present. I used to just react to the first thing I saw, like noticing a loud highway and ignoring everything else. I'd miss the beautiful little details because I was too distracted. But I'm working on changing that. Honestly, I get some of my best ideas during long walks. One big one? Letting go of the heavy stuff. I mean the weight of guilt, both toward other people and myself. Looking back, I wasted so much time carrying that around, so now I'm trying to steer my mind down better paths. Man, there are so many impressions flying around! I feel like my brain moves way faster than my hands can type, but hey, I guess writing this down actually does some good after all.
Five hundred years is just way too long to wrap your head around. Five hundred days can change your whole life in a heartbeat, so imagine what five hundred years could do.
That’s why I always say that just making it out of bed in the morning is a win in itself. Isn't it?
Anyway, I'm just wandering around, looking for a little bit of Comfort.
Every single one of those seven-plus billion people living on this planet thinks they’re the absolute center of the universe—at least if you look at things through their own personal lens of values, right?

🙂
It’s all fair enough. Like they say in a tarot reading—maybe my chakras are just totally out of whack.
Lawrence Bailey77 said:Aha, I see how it is... "very likely," huh? That's interesting, Carl Rivera43... really interesting. ☕
Now, let's loop back to the very start of this thread. Just imagine if all these answers were actually coming from different people...
You ask a question, they give you an answer... and then it's just... "well, very likely." 😵
Well, saying something is "very likely" is just my way of admitting I don't have all the answers, but I'm not ready to shut the door on other possibilities either.
Think about it. Like when a big semi-truck rolls down the street, comes to a stop, and then... *thud*. One person hears a rumble, another hears a clatter, and someone else doesn't even notice at all. Humans are wild, aren't we? Some people will take a random sound and turn it into a whole melody or a vision—maybe even a bedtime story for their kids. It’s just how we grow, finding meaning in whatever we can find.
