I’ve been a bit of a hermit since high school ended, you know? If I tried to go through a phase like that now, it would feel totally fake. Sure, I’m definitely more on the introverted side, but once I actually get moving and find my groove, man, I just want to be out there socializing with everyone!
Sam Robinson said:I couldn't agree more. It is fundamentally bizarre to force anyone into some "socially acceptable" mold of masculinity or femininity. Yet, most ridiculously, this happens every single day all over the country—and frankly, even right here on this forum. We're dealing with a massive, systemic taboo. Maybe I should have moved this discussion over to the lounge?
But yeah, it is happening. Though, to be fair, there are plenty of people out there who are slowly starting to push back against those forced labels.
It's Sunday afternoon, and man, people are already jumping into the conversation.
Sam Robinson said:My apologies. If you're looking to check out that incredible documentary, The Mask You Live In (it’s only available in English, unfortunately), you can find it at this link:
The reality of bullying really speaks for itself. From a young age, boys are pressured to conform to this narrow, societal definition of what it means to "be a man." It almost always boils down to suppressing emotions—specifically, a total rejection of expressing how they actually feel. In our culture, showing vulnerability is often branded as "feminine" or just plain "loser" behavior. As a result, these boys grow into emotionally stunted teenagers, and eventually, even more repressed men. The roots of sexism and homophobia are planted right there in phrases like "man up." The documentary is also fascinating because it touches on the current debates surrounding single-sex schooling, where that whole "man up" mentality could end up being paired with even more segregation...
Honestly, it's just not right. Men and women both have emotions, and it's honestly bizarre how often we're expected to hide them.
Sam Robinson said:Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Carl Rivera43. At the end of the day, life really does come down to the choices we make. But what about our boys? Can we honestly expect them to hold their ground against a society that starts feeding them toxic nonsense from the time they enter the school system? It’s all built on completely false premises and twisted logic. Have you had a chance to watch The Mask You Live In - documentary movie that I linked? What’s your take on it?
I can't get the video to play; I keep getting an error.
Why would we expect that from boys? Honestly, once they start noticing which paths are dead ends, they'll likely go looking for better ways to live. Life is one long learning curve, isn't it? Age doesn't really matter when it comes to figuring things out.
Who’s down to put on a mask? Honestly, if you don't, you'll just end up stuck being yourself. But hey, those "boundaries" we talk about? They're really just in our heads, right? I truly believe people feel their absolute best when they can just live authentically. Sure, if you're more of an introvert, things might feel a little tougher sometimes. But what can you do? You've gotta keep moving forward. Eventually, you'll find better ways to navigate it all.
Rebecca Williams81 said:Morning, everyone! Just jumping in to vent a little bit. 😁 I had to use the quote function just to get a word in because the reply button is totally missing on my phone. And don't even get me started on the emojis—I've only got a couple available, and I can't access the rest either.
The whole layout feels broken. I can't see most of the forum sections or posts, moderator names aren't showing up on threads, and locked topics are invisible to me too. I'll try checking in from my tablet later; maybe things will actually look normal on a bigger screen.
Does anyone know if this mess is going to last much longer?
It's super glitchy. You can't even tell who made the last post, and the post counts and view numbers are gone. Honestly, the whole forum looks like someone typed it out in Notepad.
ironbison7 said:Oh man, what a mess! All I see is a quote... and on the main page, only the first little bit shows up.. I honestly thought it was some new app update or something. I even tried clearing my history and cookies... but nope, didn't help at all.
Is there any hope they'll fix this soon?
Thank goodness I didn't clear my history, otherwise trying to find anything on my phone would have been five times harder.
For a split second there, I actually thought I'd been banned.

Could be. Those options are definitely on the table. You just have to watch your back since there's clowns popping out from behind every single bush.
I was just in NYC recently, and I’m definitely heading back there soon. You guys are absolutely invited, by the way! Why don't you send over some dates that work for you? Let's see if we can get something on the calendar.
I don't really mind if someone gives me a ring in the middle of the night, honestly. It just gets a little awkward when my phone starts blowing up with multiple calls all at once. When you're hanging out or just trying to connect with people, the whole point is to keep things chill, right? At the end of the day, communication shouldn't be a source of stress.
