Nosy banks in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
The whole "under the protection of the law" thing? It’s dead. These days, banks can peer into just about everything you do, which honestly makes sense from their perspective—they want to know exactly who they’re handing their capital to. On top of that, the IRS has gone all in on tracking every single dollar moving through the system just to try and squeeze out the shadow economy. Of course, they aren't actually targeting the big players where the real shady business happens; it's always the everyday citizens and small business owners getting squeezed instead.

At this point, your only real move is to stick to cash. That's the only way you can be sure you've still got some privacy.

It’s not really that simple. If you aren't feeling up to doing it yourself, just hand it off to someone who actually knows what they're doing.

Linda Perez12 said:Hey there! I hope this isn't a silly question, but I'm honestly a bit lost here...
I was poking around my IRS portal and noticed something under the e-PKK section. It looks like I might owe a little something—it shows a balance due of about $150.

Does anyone know how I can figure out exactly what this charge is for or where I can actually pay it? I have a feeling my old boss really messed things up. A year after I left that job, he kept pushing me to go down to the IRS office to check on my tax refund because he thought they'd screw me over. When I finally went to see the agent at the desk, he told me there wasn't a refund coming, but that my former boss had made a mistake and would take full responsibility. He told me not to worry about a thing, but now I'm seeing this balance.

Yeah, I see that debt popping up today too... corporate tax issues without any actual notice or paperwork sent out. Meanwhile, interest is just racking up...

edit; just saw the news that the IRS hasn't even been sending out the bills yet, but they're already charging interest... real classy...

His very first post in the comment section—and mind you, nobody had even said anything to him yet, people were just asking questions, which is standard procedure:

"Greetings, though only to those capable of truly appreciating hard work and expertise. As for the rest of you, feel free to crawl back into the gutter and go treat your itch there."

OMG 🙂 🙂 🙂

But this specific claim of his is the absolute kicker:
“The reason I follow every single qualifying session and race with about 50 or 60 comments on Twitter in English isn't because I'm trying to show off or just offering my take on the race flow (because if I did that, I'd be doing it in American). The real reason is because Dean Locke—yeah, wow, quite the name!—the head producer for Formula 1 broadcasts at FOM, specifically asked me to send them to him. He has a production assistant sitting right next to him who basically 'reads' the race for him. That assistant also grabs my Tweets and feeds them directly to Dean through his headset, and then Dean uses that info to make adjustments during the broadcast.
Don't believe me? I wasn't doubting it for a second.”

Ever since he took over at GP1, everyone’s just sitting around waiting for his stamp of approval before they dare comment. Free speech? Yeah, right. It's dead.

And that first article wasn't even journalism; it was a damn novel—just pure yellow journalism.

Now they're coming for Dijaković. Honestly, it's just a matter of time before they turn on him too.

What a complete mess.

I honestly don't get why people wouldn't just stick with Medicare. Private insurance companies are always pulling some kind of shady stunt or playing games with the fine print... and then when you actually need something covered, suddenly they claim it’s out of network or hit you with some absurd, bureaucratic nightmare of a process.

briskjackal5 said:Well, it's probably because they aren't legally allowed to mess around with your data unless you give them the green light.
They aren't supposed to just peek at your numbers whenever they feel like it, you know? I mean, in principle, they're just there to process the transaction you ordered and that's pretty much it—they shouldn't even be looking.
Until they ask you, and until you say otherwise, they're stuck.

That's just because everyone here is being too cautious...
The people who actually provided their data aren't part of this specific thread. 😁

Haha, that's cute. You're thinking too optimistically. There’s definitely some fine print buried in those terms and conditions you signed that you didn't even bother to read.
I was applying for a loan at Chase recently, and the bank went through my entire transaction history without blinking. They even demanded extra documentation for specific purchases and grilled me about them... I was honestly caught off guard when my personal banker called me out of the blue to interrogate me about it... ended up in a full-blown argument.
vividranger8 said:Oh, please. They aren't going to back down. I mean, they’re basically just using this whole law as an excuse to squeeze even more info out of their clients—kind of a loophole, if you ask me—while the actual regulations are just another annoying line item on their balance sheet.

The reality is we're beholden to these banks. If you want to take out a loan or fund some project, pretty much nobody can do it without them. If you go in there acting tough and refusing to answer their questions or provide what they need, you're obviously not going to get what you're asking for.

I’m with you on that! Honestly, JPMorgan Chase was fine when I was just using them for my personal stuff, but as a business client? Total disaster. I’ve never seen anything like it—the people working there are just completely incompetent and unprofessional. Now that I’m looking into taking out a personal loan, even my private banking feels limited; they obsess over the tiny, stupid details but can't explain any of the actual important things. They've become a complete mess. I was seriously thinking about moving everything—both my business and personal accounts—over to Wells Fargo, but I’m in the final stages of closing on a house right now and I just don't have the bandwidth to switch banks mid-process. And like you mentioned, I'm not even a "high-maintenance" client anymore; I canceled all my extra cards and kept only the basic JPMorgan Chase one, though even that doesn't matter much since it just encourages me to spend more. Once this loan clears, I might finally make the jump to Wells Fargo. My only regret is that I didn't do my homework sooner and open the business account at Wells Fargo back when I had the chance!
