Ugh, seriously? This is just pathetic.

It’s all coming back to me now... wait, let me wrap my head around this first...
So, I’m actually pretty into books—this is what I’ve got on hand... plus, most of this was basically gifted to me. Fresh stuff, too...
Anyway, how’s everyone doing?

Dana Anderson4 .. yeah, thanks.. honestly thinking about checking it out.
There’s a little bit of stuff on Amazon, but still..
Forget the DVD.. "I'm Your Man".. right?

Eh, a little lifting never hurt anybody...

Anyway, I’m looking for some solid book recommendations about Cohen. I'm not really in the mood for those "he was just a little boy once..." style biographies—you know the type. Give me the ones with actual pictures! 🙂

Thanks.

Not so much. It requires this whole "inner work" thing, which sounds great in theory, but honestly, when you're stuck in that hole, having the willpower to even start is basically impossible...🙂

👍
Honestly, there isn't much left to say. I really hope User123 sees this. And look, because depression basically strips away your drive to do anything, you seriously need someone (someone who actually knows what they're doing) to help steer you toward the light when things first start going downhill. Just popping pills isn't a magic fix.
Sophia Clark2 said:No way, I'm not taking them—I was really hoping to just power through this without...

Look, you seriously can't just white-knuckle your way through depression and anxiety on your own. If things aren't getting better, maybe it's time to find a new psychiatrist (though you don't strictly *have* to) + you absolutely have to stick to the meds.
So, are you guys taking anything at all? Like, any kind of meds? Antidepressants, anti-anxiety stuff... anything?
Peter Kim said:JJ Cale—I mean, he’s basically the only musician out there where the record label actually begs him to drop some new tracks, and don't even get me started on the gigs... everywhere wants him to show up and play. His sound is so chill, I wouldn't be surprised if some therapists in the States prescribed his records to their patients just to calm them down..
He’s just so damn good, yet so incredibly lazy..
(you can see exactly what I mean on the live DVD from The Bottom Line)

P.S. The Unreleased Recordings just dropped

Have you checked this out yet: J.J. Cale - Closer to You **** Guitar Man (If I Had a Rocket) *** 1/2 to Tulsa and Back ***** The Road to Escondido **** (2006)?

Man, that whole defeatist attitude of yours... seriously?

Off-topic.
One of my absolute favorite songwriters—just a total one-of-a-kind legend. He proved ages ago that he was way ahead of his time. My first real encounter with his stuff was hearing "Sensitive Kind" about 15 years back, and once I stumbled upon "petica," I was hooked. Been following everything he does ever since.

A whole bunch of personal little stars:
#5 *****

So, let's lay this out chronologically...
Naturally ***** Really
Naturally ***** Really (mo Jo)****1/2
Alright, let's talk about Cajun Moon.
Troubadour ***** Shades
Shades (Cloudy day)****
Grasshopper (You Keep Me Hangin' On)****
#8 ***
Travel log (San Diego)****
Number ten (Passion)****1/2
Closer to You ****
Guitar Man (If I Had a Rocket)***1/2
Tulsa and Back *****
The Road to Escondido ****

(Now, just a heads-up—putting these in parentheses doesn't mean they're my absolute favorites from the album... because let’s be real, there are plenty of other tracks that hit way harder.)
Man, when JJ Cale starts cooking, there’s just zero chance of being disappointed. Seriously. 🙂

You've got the Confederate flag flying around paired with a jukebox blasting Bon Jovi hits... honestly, the whole night I was just waiting for the inevitable moment someone starts a riot outside the bar. So yeah, definitely not my loss.

man, a shame about Route 66 though... could've been a decent little country spot if they hadn't totally trashed it.

Susan Brooks48 said:Yeah, taking just the blocker shouldn't be an issue since they don't really have side effects. But the thing is, we're swallowing a whole bunch of bacteria that has to survive the stomach to settle in the gut. It makes sense that they'd have a much easier time passing through if the stomach acidity is lower. Right?

Actually, no.
Thanks to that super acidic stomach pH, most of those microbes aren't even going to make it—they get wiped out almost instantly. Your normal gut flora consists of over 400 different species, and for most people, it stays pretty much the same throughout their lives. The distal ileum acts as this transition zone between the sparse flora in the upper digestive tract and the dense population in the colon. This natural flora basically creates a defense system against other types of bacteria or fungi trying to move into that "ecological niche."
There are several components that protect the intact intestinal lining, plus—if you actually have a decent immune system—even if some bacteria manage to translocate, they just get phagocytized and destroyed by the intestinal lymphoid tissue and liver phagocytes.
Bottom line: successful penetration by anaerobic bacteria can really only happen if there's a major break in the mucosal continuity or if necrosis sets in.

Achlorhydria or hypochlorhydria can cause the bacterial flora (the kind usually found in the colon) to proliferate in the upper parts of the small intestine (what's known as blind loop syndrome), which leads to megaloblastic anemia, frequent diarrhea, and all sorts of other signs and symptoms of malabsorption syndrome.

Anything else?

First off, sorry if my post yesterday came off a bit "rude." It wasn't—just one of those days where everything sucks.

Let’s just reset here. If we actually take a second to think about this, some answers might actually make sense.

Susan Brooks48 said:Glad I could keep things interesting for a bit...

I highly doubt I have low stomach acid—it’s been years now. I tend to get full pretty quickly, even if what I'm eating isn't particularly heavy. Plus, heartburn just isn't an issue for me.

And honestly, every woman knows how easily bacteria can travel from the rectum to the urinary tract. That’s why hygiene is such a huge deal (without getting too graphic here).

What I'm really wondering about is whether low stomach acid could actually make you more prone to bad gut bacteria. I've read bits and pieces about it online, but I'd love to hear some perspectives...

Basically, I'm trying to figure out why the antibiotic I'm taking for my UTI seems to be fixing my gut issues too. It's weird because neither dietary changes, probiotics, nor Pepcid have made a dent in those symptoms.

Look, people dealing with hypochlorhydria don't usually get "full quickly." They’re constantly hungry, always battling allergies, and dealing with random infections. If you really sit down and connect the dots, you'll see why.

Anyway, I've got a few questions for you. What was the actual reason you ended up at the doctor—what symptoms were you having that triggered a gastroscopy?
When did the intestinal cramps start? And the changes in bowel movements... how long has that been going on?
Besides Lanzul, are you taking anything else?
Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) in Health ·
So, because you "digested" spicy food easier, you've suddenly decided you're low on stomach acid? Interesting logic there...

But honestly, the even bigger leap is this massive jump to urinary tract issues

look, all those search terms you listed—they sound absolutely lovely on paper. but I’m struggling to see why you're putting yourself through this kind of hell over it.
how long has this "stiffness" been hanging over you? is there anything else going on... and what makes you think you're actually dealing with depression?
