I'm originally from Des Moines, though I spend most of my time living in Washington, D.C. My gynecologist back in Des Moines gave me a referral for some blood work, and I made sure to tell them explicitly that I needed a referral valid for testing here in D.C. The nurse mentioned there shouldn't be any issues getting it done at any lab that offers these specific tests.
Now, I just need some advice on where in the D.C. area I can go to get this done and what the process looks like. Does one need to make an appointment, or can you just show up and wait...
Whether it's healthy, I honestly can't say for sure... though perhaps it's beneficial if it encourages the body to produce antibodies more rapidly. I don't believe there's any downside to receiving free vaccinations against tetanus, rabies, or hepatitis 🙂 It certainly isn't harmful, that much is certain. I've been a regular plasma donor through apheresis for over two years now. Regarding those restrictions on new donors mentioned earlier, it's simply because they can only accommodate a limited number of people, so they prioritize donors who are consistent and provide high-quality plasma. For instance, they often stop accepting donors once they hit 30, because at that age, the ability to produce the specific antibodies needed for manufacturing medicines and plasma-based treatments starts to decline...
Usually, you'll find it under Messages, then Settings, followed by things like Push Notifications or Service Alerts... though sometimes it’s tucked away under Settings and then Messages... 🤣
I’m looking for a compass to give as a gift... I might be able to find some standard modern ones at hunting supply stores, but I was really picturing something with more of an antique feel... Something like this:
Or maybe
Does anyone know where I could pick up something like that in Washington, D.C.?
I’m starting to accept the idea that nobody actually has a solution for this... I’d love to test if it works by using a USB to PS/2 adapter, but despite having a mountain of cables and adapters, I don't have that specific one—even though I have the mouse version right here. 🙂 Even if I did try it, I doubt I'd get full functionality (like the macro keys and other special features), but I'm curious if the basic typing would even work.
I tend to blame the motherboard or macOS, but since my other USB devices work perfectly fine, it's probably not an issue with the USB ports themselves...
I'll try to track down a USB to PS/2 adapter for the keyboard... As for a third computer... that's a stretch. I don't own a third machine (two is already plenty 🤣), and I don't really have close enough friends who wouldn't mind letting me borrow their setup for a few days just to see if it works.
If anyone else has a bright idea, please let me know... 😁
By the way, if you're wondering how I'm typing while my keyboard is dead... it's either via the Virtual Keyboard (which is a total nightmare) or this old wireless keyboard I picked up over five years ago for about $60 $23 bundled with a wireless mouse that never actually worked. I never even bothered taking the set in for repair because the warranty had long expired... I honestly can't believe this cheap, out-of-warranty junk still functions, while this expensive, high-end new one is completely failing me 🙂
Analog headphones have their perks: no USB, no internal DAC, and none of those annoying driver headaches... just pure analog simplicity 🙂
When you ask if they are "truly fully closed," what exactly do you mean by that? If you mean whether the padding sits flush against the skin to seal around the ear, then yes... I honestly don't see how they could be any more closed than that 🤷
And regarding whether the "noise isolation is complete," we really need to define what "complete" means to you... 🙄 With the Kava, you could say that if even a hint of sound leaks through, the wearer wouldn't even notice someone talking at a normal volume just half a foot away. If absolutely nothing can be heard through the headphones, the wearer might still hear a muffled version of someone speaking nearby, and if they focus hard enough, they could probably understand them I'm not quite sure how else to put it. But frankly, I highly doubt any headphones can offer better isolation than professional-grade gear...
What else are you looking for in a set... Are you satisfied with basic stereo, or are you aiming for 5.1/7.1 surround sound? Do you need them to be wireless, or would a wired connection work for you?
For instance, I ended up getting the SteelSeries - wireless gaming headset Arctis because my main priority was going wireless without sacrificing too much audio quality... So, I set aside a bit more money (okay, a lot more), but now I have a pair that I absolutely love... They cover my ears completely and block out almost all ambient noise, plus they feature 7.1 surround (which I didn't specifically ask for, but came included 😍)... I can't say they are incredibly lightweight, though... They aren't exactly heavy, but they feel fine to me; however, my boyfriend finds them a bit too heavy for long sessions since he needs something he can wear for hours at a time.
If you don't strictly need wireless but really want that 5.1 surround experience, I’d suggest the ones my boyfriend recently picked up... Razer Kave. He swears they are super light and comfortable for extended use, and having at least 5.1 was his top priority. They also isolate outside noise really well. He’s thrilled with them, and they cost him significantly less than what I paid for mine.
I can definitely recommend them because I've seen how well they work firsthand. If those are a bit out of your budget (since they are on the pricier side), I think there are plenty of great high-end stereo headphones out there... But trust me, if you're a gamer and plan on using them constantly, it's worth investing a little extra... We aren't exactly the Rockefellers (I'd say we're closer to the opposite 😬)... I saved up for my pair for about three or four months, but I don't regret it for a second... And even though my boyfriend hesitated quite a bit because of the price, he is beyond happy with them now.
P.S. - I see you've turned into a number in the meantime... 😁 In that case, you're definitely in the same league as us when it comes to headphone spending... 😉 I see the Kave are available at Best Buy for $217 (we bought ours at Links for a bit more) The G930 were $333
I have a Logitech G110 keyboard purchased at the end of April this year... so it isn't even six months old yet about a month or two ago, it started acting up
It just disconnects on its own... Windows tells me there's a USB issue and that the USB device isn't working properly The disconnects seem totally random... I haven't noticed any pattern related to what I'm doing on my PC... sometimes it happens while I'm typing text, sometimes during a game, and sometimes when I'm just sitting idle... Some days it works perfectly, other days it drops out several times a day
When it stops working, the keys won't register, but the light stays on (so it isn't losing power); actually, the color doesn't even change (which you can normally adjust, otherwise it defaults to blue) What's even more confusing is that sometimes restarting the computer helps, and sometimes it doesn't... basically, it's hit or miss after a reboot Sometimes unplugging it from the USB port and plugging it back in works, and sometimes it doesn't; occasionally it says a new USB device was found and successfully installed, but other times it says it found a new device but failed to install it... To make matters worse... when I unplug and replug it, sometimes the key colors reset to blue, and other times they stay as the color I customized I already tried switching USB ports, but it’s pretty much the same result across all of them
We tested it on my boyfriend's computer... it was there for at least 4 days (maybe 5 or 6) and he didn't have a single issue with it
I recently installed the latest version of the software: Logitech gaming software v8.00.127 x64 That didn't help I updated my Motherboard : Gigabyte M55S-S3 drivers That didn't help either
I am honestly at a loss here... 😕 I don't see much point in taking it to a repair shop if it works fine on another computer... I'm starting to think the issue might be with my own PC... though I'm not sure why...
I am running Windows 7 64-bit Motherboard : Gigabyte M55S-S3 (nForce 550 chipset)
I also have Logitech G930 headphones, which work flawlessly I mention that not to brag (😛), but because I heard a rumor that having multiple Logitech devices can cause software conflicts... it's just something I've heard, though I'm not sure if it's true... 🤷
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated (other than reinstalling Windows... 😛 that is my absolute last resort)
Sorry for the walloftext, but usually, the more details provided, the faster a solution is found. Please, please, please... if anyone has a solution... 🙂 I'm going to lose my mind... this is my first high-quality keyboard, and I can't believe I'm dealing with these issues... 🙂
Only one month left... 🙂 I finally grabbed tickets for myself and my partner today... the whole group is starting to come together... 😁 I can hardly wait... 😍
Does anyone know if there's a setlist yet??

By the way... it isn't the 29th, it's actually April 28th 😉
