Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
restlesshound27, when was the last time you actually sat down for a gynecological exam? Seriously—go get checked out and don't settle for anything less than top-tier medical expertise.

Does anyone else deal with this, and how do you manage it? My cycle is actually super regular and usually lasts about four or five days.
Maybe this should have gone in the Health subforum?

I really don't want to go the birth control route—I tried it briefly once before and honestly, the side effects were way worse than any benefits...

Help.

Thanks

Has it always been this heavy for you? Because if this is a sudden change, you really ought to go see a gynecologist just to be safe. But if this is just your "normal," then there's probably no need to stress too much. Every single woman in my family—aside from me and one aunt—has heavy cycles that can stretch well beyond six days. And they're all perfectly healthy. It's a proven fact in our household.
I still remember one friend from high school whose period would last ten whole days! On top of that, it was incredibly heavy and painful. And she was perfectly fine.

Solid movie. Speaking of Monica, have any of you actually sat through Irreversible? I'm curious to hear what you all think about it.
Great films based on books:
Apocalypse Now
Lord of the Flies
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Just one
Scarlett (from 1940, Hitchcock)

these are those instances where you stack up several days in a row without getting nearly enough sleep... I don't even feel right if I oversleep—it just makes me feel even more groggy... For me, catching a few minutes in the afternoon is absolutely vital... sometimes it’s just a quick 3 or 4 minute power nap, but it works... even Tesla (and please, don't compare me to him!) averaged about four hours of sleep, but he always had that 20-minute afternoon recharge

Are you hitting the sack at the same time every night? It sounds like your internal clock might be completely out of whack. What kind of work schedule are we talking about here? Is it poor nutrition? Too much booze? Drugs? Stress?

I’ve never been much of a time management person... some days I feel like a total wreck—just dragging myself along—but then again, I know people who have lived like this for years, surviving on even less sleep than I do...
well, the real question is: how?

I barely sleep at all. We're talking two hours a night, on average.
Timothy Cox2, why on earth are you trying to settle into a routine of sleep deprivation when you admit you already feel like a complete zombie half the time?
That’s just not how it works. Listen, kid—you really need to dial back the drinking.
If you keep going down this road, you're basically inviting a massive flare-up.
See, when you've got alcohol in your system, it can actually mess with how your medication performs—it might even make it less effective. Now, I’m not saying you have to go completely sober overnight—that’s a huge ask—but maybe just cut back a notch? And for heaven's sake, talk to your doctor about it. After all, everyone's neurochemistry is different, isn't it?

As for the research on marijuana, the scientific community is still pretty split on the whole thing.
Columbo TV Series in Movies ·
There’s just something about Mr. Columbo and that classic "just one more thing" routine—it’s such a simple, pure pleasure, isn't it?
I hear there are actually books out there based on the series; has anyone here had a chance to dive into them yet?
