Jesse Lopez10 said:Hey everyone, what's up?
Does anyone know where I can pick up some boxing shoes here in San Diego??
Or if not in San Diego, maybe somewhere nearby??
Anyone know where I can find Lonsdale gear in the States or close by??

Thanks a lot

Check out this site for martial arts training: I don't know who needs to hear this, but Lonsdale is absolutely top-tier. Honestly, I was browsing some high-end gear the other day—trying to find something that actually holds up—and nothing beats their quality. It’s just classic. Simple, effective, and looks great. If you're looking to upgrade your wardrobe, do yourself a favor and check them out. You won't regret it!

Well, that's everything he wrote. We're kicking things off today! Your first training session is totally free, so come by and check it out.

Look, in any serious club, sparring shouldn't be mandatory. Honestly, I think fighting should be treated as a privilege, not an obligation.

In my opinion—and I’m not the only one thinking this—Vilicic should have taken it. I didn't catch the whole fight because I had a match right after and was busy warming up. I only saw that final round, and honestly, it looked like it went Radnic's way by a hair, mostly just because he was working his hands harder. But based on what the coaches and guys I chatted with were saying, Zaman definitely took the first two rounds.
I don't know much about the scoring system myself, and let's be real, the judges aren't even consistent with their own criteria. One thing is for sure, though... trying to win a decision against a Pitbull fighter is damn near impossible.😁
But look, the judging wasn't even the biggest issue here. The real dirty move was how Pitbull allegedly weighed in a day early while everyone else had to wait until the morning of the tournament. Then the draw was rigged too—every single Pitbull fighter except Vujevic got a bye through the first round.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing these Pitbull fighters. They're solid, tough, and experienced athletes. It's just that the rules should be the same for everyone!

Great club.

Morgan Alvarez3: I just saw the news. Absolutely wild. My jaw is still on the floor. You guys seeing this? This changes everything. kaže:
I hit up Holy Spirit yesterday, and honestly, the vibe was pretty good. My only real concern is the crowd. It’s packed—especially with beginners—and there were only two instructors on the floor. I’m a bit worried about how much attention a coach can actually give me when it’s that busy. I really want to make sure I’m learning the right way to strike and move, you know? Proper technique is everything.

I’m thinking about checking out some boxing gyms first, so if anyone has recommendations, I’m all ears. I heard about this one club over in the Quad area—I think it's called Omega—but I can't find them in any directory. Honestly, I have no clue how to even track them down...

There are three coaches on staff... look, if everyone else who’s been training here for a while has leveled up, it’s obvious these guys know exactly what they're doing. Trust me, they definitely do. 😉
They push technique hard at this club, so you’re definitely going to pick it up. Personally, I think it’s even better than those one-on-one private sessions. There's just something about the group energy that really pushes the learning process further.😉
Honestly, in any serious gym or club, you’re rarely going to find a coach hovering over you for the entire session. They don't need to. It’s just not necessary.

Just checked out the K1 rulebook... Is this why people call K1 "watered-down Muay Thai"?

-Using the head or elbow to deliver a blow
-Charging inside the opponent's arms with the head held low (inducing a head-butt)
-Attacking an opponent who turns around and shows his back (unless the opponent loses his will to fight)
-Attacking the back of the head with a punch
-Attacking more than once while holding the opponent's kicking leg, or while holding the opponent's neck with both hands

The real differences are simple—no headbutts, no elbows, and Thai boxing uses 5x3 minute rounds while K1 does 3x3... plus the scoring is totally different.

Regarding Tiger, I was just passing along what I heard firsthand from the crew training there. If things have changed, then hey, good for Tiger and everyone else—more competition just makes the game better.
Greetings to the Tigers, see you all in the ring.

Kate Evans5 said:I’m practically a novice when it comes to sports. I did some judo and swimming back in the day, but nothing long-term. For the last year, I’ve been hitting the gym, but now I want to commit to something more serious.
I want to find something that will get me in peak condition and help me pack on some muscle 🙂 mass. I'm willing to put in the work; I just need a coach. A friend has been training me in kickboxing for a while now, but I feel like an idiot walking into a club at 20 years old asking where to start. Usually, everyone my age has already been doing this for years—there aren't really any beginners left once you hit 20...

Please, can anyone recommend a club where they are actually welcoming? I don't want to feel like a total outsider. 🙂

Also, if you have better recommendations than kickboxing, feel free to speak up. 🙂

I started training about 20 years ago. We actually have quite a few guys in our club who started back then too...

Timothy Walker9 said:It’s not quite what I was hunting for (MT), but I figured I’d share anyway... it’s actually a kickboxing/savate club.

I know a fighter from the Tampa area by the name of Mario Katic, though I'm not sure if we're talking about the same guy.

rustyangler02 said:Oh my god, you guys actually wear Oklope??? No wonder you're all fighting in kickboxing matches...

They pull that crap at amateur tournaments... I wore something similar once during a trip to Canada and it was a total disaster.👎
I hate fighting with all that extra gear. Shin guards are okay, maybe a helmet if I have to, but this armor? Absolutely not.
Real fighting should just be gloves. Everything else is just garbage...

Russ is a powerhouse when it comes to producing champions across almost every combat sport—boxing, wrestling, judo, sambo—they even have the best fighter in the UFC right now. Honestly, the Americans are the only ones really breathing down their necks.

What can I say? My heart is there...😍
I definitely agree regarding Russ. Their boxing school is top-tier, and their wrestling, sambo, and judo programs are incredible. Even their Muay Thai is elite...
By Russ, I'm referring to most of the former USSR territory.

Can anyone list all the different martial arts training spots around the Upper Dubrava/Maksimir/Ravnice area... basically that whole loop.

Thnx...

Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA... you name it, I'm all in. These are the real deals. There’s nothing quite like the grit of a heavy hitter or the technical precision of a striker. Pure adrenaline.
