How often should I train Wing Chun? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
capiscone said:What does that conditioning actually entail, and how much time do you usually put in?

🙄

A few variations of sit-ups and push-ups—multiple sets—horse stance, weightlifting, things like that. Some standard gym movements mixed with some Tao of Jeet Kune Do drills.

Then I listen to Biohazard and practice my breathing techniques.

I assumed we were discussing training frequency. I hope we aren't pivoting back to street effectiveness again.

My approach is rooted in those old-school "discipline comes from within" principles—sort of a wax on, wax off mentality.

I hit the gym twice a week, then run drills at home every single day to stay sharp. And naturally, I head out to the clubs on the weekend.

One of my absolute favorite bits from the series:

Hey, Earl!

-Hey, Crabman!

That’s the whole thing. Ha.

I didn't say that! But I know exactly what you mean. You should head over to that 'shows we want on network TV' thread and list it there. Honestly, I'd love to watch it myself; I'm actually about to text a buddy of mine who downloads all sorts of stuff online to see if he can grab a copy. Thanks for the heads-up.

Please... I enjoy Northern Exposure, truly, even if it's mostly just old VHS tapes now, but this series is genuinely superior. It lacks those specific irritations that bugged me about Northern Exposure—specifically Chris and his constant need to whine and quote literature on the radio. That was interesting enough until it became my entire curriculum in high school and college...
besides, My Name is Earl - no jews!😉

I’ve heard the second season takes a dip... though I’ve revisited the first one a few times. The show is just too good; honestly, it puts Northern Exposure to shame. It’s almost too sympathetic for my taste. After finishing the episodes I have on hand, I found myself thinking—what a mess. I'd definitely watch more.

I suspect there might be some ninjutsu practiced in Los Angeles, though I can't say for certain; someone mentioned it to me once in passing.

A friend of mine used to train in Uragen, but he told me he’s moving on to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instead. Not that it matters to me—that sort of thing isn't really my interest.

If you ever find yourself searching for true mastery in any craft, remember this: "the only person who actually knows what they're doing... isn't teaching anymore."

Is there any Jeet Kune Do training in the DC area? Anyone teaching it locally?
I’ve been trying to track this down for a while now, but I’m coming up empty. Nothing to be found.
