Who is the best manager in Europe? in Soccer ·
Milutinović, man!

Out of all the options on the table, I ended up casting my vote for Rafael Benitez. If you look at it from a fan perspective...

silentharbor6 said:Look, I get it—soccer is basically running through our veins, nobody is disputing that. But honestly, do we actually get many chances these days to celebrate scoring against the absolute giants of the game?

Are you seriously trying to tell me that teams like Leverkusen, Shelbourne, or Zenit aren't major clubs? 😕

For me, rugby has always been the undisputed number one sport.
Back in the day, and even now, I find myself watching almost exclusively when I actually make the trip out to live games.

I just don't find the other sports nearly as engaging to watch—well, at least not unless I'm going specifically for the atmosphere and the crowd energy.
Why the derbies? in Soccer ·
And why on earth would anyone care about the Champions League?
Honestly, those matches were some of the most mind-numbingly dull games I've ever had the misfortune of watching.
What's the point of even broadcasting them?

Is there any truth to what they're saying about 🙂Mohammed Zidati?
Exactly—
it’s obvious you realize:
you were the one who started throwing insults first—
and now that you're getting a taste of your own medicine, you're sitting there whining and playing the victim.

I am not the topic here. The topic is the "films" listed.
The fact that people might have different perspectives on a subject is called being literate and having comprehension skills. Honestly, they teach you that in first grade.

If all you want to do is argue and insult people, why don't you just swap email addresses with your little echo chamber of supporters so you can go ahead and trade insults among yourselves instead?

When did I ever claim that you were threatening me?

It seems pretty clear that paranoia is your main complex,
not to mention your total lack of reading comprehension.

With posts like these, I’m officially calling this discussion over.
I think everyone here sees things perfectly clearly by now.
Thanks for the entertainment.👋
Honestly, your level of paranoia says everything about how much you actually read these posts and—more importantly—how little you actually understand them.
Threats?👍 I don't know you, and frankly, I have zero desire to get to know you just so I could bother threatening you.

But moving on... this claim from our "universal receiver" here—that these movies are nothing but mindless violence and that they mock everyone except Americans—is quite possibly the absolute peak of stupidity.
It’s blindingly obvious that fruit of the loom hasn't actually watched these films, which makes it completely inappropriate for them to even weigh in on this thread.

*****************************
This is my first time posting in this particular thread. And yes, you are being mentioned, but only because your nonsense has absolutely nothing to do with the films we are discussing. It’s supposedly related to the topic, right?
Reading comprehension? Well, I guess that's something people are supposed to pick up back in elementary school.
First off, why are you even bringing my name into this?
Secondly, why aren't you actually providing any arguments for what you're writing?
Thirdly, why do you feel the need to mention me if all you're going to do is resort to calling someone a brat or a troublemaker once I systematically dismantle your nonsense with actual logic? You haven't contributed a single constructive thought to this thread.
Fourthly, when you drop that emoji with the "closed" sign, you aren't making a point; you're just avoiding the fact that you have zero arguments.
Fifthly, you clearly have absolutely no clue how to hold a discussion on an online forum.
Sixthly, just because you think you're being incredibly cool by jumping in and acting like a smart-ass doesn't mean you actually are. It honestly just proves you don't understand the first thing about meaningful debate.
Look, anyone can lose an argument when they can barely type a coherent sentence with their thumb, while you're probably sitting there typing away with all ten fingers after finishing some speed-typing course.
Seventh, stay two yards away from me.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if you just quote my seventh point and then try to recite some Walt Whitman poem to look deep.

The subject here isn't me, or whether I'm gay, or fake, or anything of the sort.

The subject is the movie.
I simply shared my opinion on the films being discussed in this thread, and that’s where it ends.

The only thing you actually failed to address was how it's possible for you to be making threats against forum members when that is strictly forbidden by the rules—how can you, as a moderator, be unaware of that? And why exactly do you think you have more rights than the rest of us regular users who aren't mods?

😕

Come on,
just admit you've got a crush on me
😘

and take the little kids (Drums and the rest of those troll fighters) along with you.

Does a tree even realize there's anything out there besides just being stuck in its own roots?
If anyone is actually deviating from the topic here, it's you. So, frankly, if you want to act like this, maybe you should just head to the kitchen...
But look, honestly... this claim from our resident universal critic—that these movies are nothing more than mindless violence and that they exist solely to mock everyone except Americans—is the absolute height of stupidity.
It’s glaringly obvious that fruit of the loom hasn't actually sat down and watched these films, so, in my opinion, it’s completely inappropriate for them to even weigh in on this thread.

Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·
On a completely different note, some really bizarre things happen here in the States. For instance, if you decide to go for a stroll wearing a Dinamo Chicago or Hajduk Split jersey on a day when there isn't even a match happening, people give you these incredibly strange looks—like you're some kind of alien. But, strangely enough, if you've got a Manchester United, Real Madrid, or AC Milan kit on, suddenly everything is perfectly fine and nobody bats an eye.

I’m curious, though—how do you guys feel about the kits for the teams you support? Generally speaking, which jerseys do you actually enjoy, whether it's because of the design, the color palette, or just the overall vibe?

For me, I thought the Dinamo Chicago ones from last season were pretty decent; they had a similar aesthetic to the Chelsea kits.

As for others,I guess I'd say the Liverpool FC away kit from last season was actually quite nice.

The Celtic look is just a total classic.👍

I also really dig the jersey from Columbus Crew, that MLS side, though honestly, I think it's more because of the crest.

Do you guys have any personal favorites?

Urbanus, get ready... there’s a massive crowd heading out from the NYC area. It's a much more intense group this time. Anything could happen...

I'm honestly curious if those "brave" Orthodox boys will actually show up once there are more than two supporters of the American national team in the stands.
Just thought we might check in on them and see how they're doing... make sure everyone's still feeling healthy...
In the first movie, I feel like they kept things relatively grounded, making only minimal changes that didn't really mess with the overall flow of the story much at all.

But honestly? "The Two Towers" is an absolute caricature. It’s just so riddled with logical inconsistencies that I’ll probably end up watching the final part just out of pure curiosity, simply to see how on earth they manage to untangle this entire mess...

Exactly, they're just these hulking brutes...
From what I recall, even in the movie, they're hunched over. They ride their horses that way, and even when they walk into the room where the hobbits are staying at the "Prancing Pony."
Or maybe my memory is failing me?

Well, go ahead and throw clumsiness into the mix too...
Why don't you try quoting a passage from the book where they negotiate with Arwen on behalf of Frodo?
You can't, because it was changed.
That isn't some matter of "subjective visualization"—it’s straight-up altering the original source material.
And I think you know exactly what I mean by that.

The Black Riders were once kings of men.
Human beings—and not just any humans, but kings—all fallen under Sauron's control.
What kind of stature do you expect them to have? Smaller than Gimli?
silentpilot6 said:Visual complaints? What "visual complaints" have I even voiced here?
You brought up the Black Riders. Fine. How are Tolkien's Black Riders described?
They are pale, hunched figures with glowing eyes, possessing a "squeaky" voice, and emitting a black breath around them. They terrify people with their "out of this world" presence.
Then there are Peter Jackson's Black Riders. Just tall thugs who probably spend their free time training for boxing matches or causing trouble in bars; they speak with deep voices, yet there's nothing but emptiness inside those hoods. Black breath? What on earth is that supposed to be? They "terrify" people just by looking like macho tough guys.
So, is this some moronic rewriting of the book by someone who doesn't understand fantasy, or is it a visual complaint?

Yeah, just big, burly thugs...
If I recall correctly, they were hunched over in the movie too—both on their horses and when they walked into the room where the hobbits were staying at the Prancing Pony.
Or maybe my memory is failing me?

Training for boxing and acting out in bars? Give me a break...

Speaking in deep voices?
I wouldn't say that; they scream.

And what exactly is this "black breath" supposed to be? They are literal rot; that’s how they look, and that's how their horses look. What kind of black breath? Are we supposed to expect a smoke machine effect every time they show up?

Peter Jackson saw them one way, I saw them differently, and you saw them differently. That’s just how it works because the book is written that way; everyone has their own mental image of the story.
Complaining about the Black Riders or any other visual nitpicks is honestly just shouting into the void. At the end of the day, Peter Jackson isn't some kind of psychic who can somehow manifest the exact, hyper-specific imagery living inside every single reader's head.
So, I suppose we're just talking about subjective perception here.

But cutting scenes and fundamentally altering the book? Now, that's a completely different conversation.
"The Fellowship of the Ring" is actually a decent enough movie, mostly because they kept the changes to the source material to a bare minimum, but "The Two Towers"? That’s just pure garbage.
That isn't Lord of the Rings...
