Is Microsoft Edge actually any good? in IT Support ·
Still hasn't fixed a damn thing. It’ll only translate certain pages—like, selectively choosing what it wants to work on or whatever. Some sites just won't budge, even though they don't have any protection or anything blocking it. I haven't even installed a single extension yet. I'm gonna try switching over to a different browser and see if that actually does something.

Finally fixed it. 👍

I actually had to go in and kick English out of my preferred language settings just to get things working right.

So, Microsoft Edge is totally glitching out on me when it comes to translating pages—like, the option shows up, but when I actually try to use it, nothing happens. It’s driving me nuts! Even weirder? Wikipedia is being super hit-or-miss; sometimes it’ll translate just fine, but most of the time, it just refuses to work. It's completely inconsistent. Does anyone actually know how to fix this mess?

Wet dreams and fuzzy memories don't really count as a source—give me something concrete.

Since you're clearly dreaming away, here's some actual news for you.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
Man, I still remember how the European Union and the USA were feeding us this whole fairy tale when those first sanction packages dropped—telling us Russia would be completely broke by mid-April. Well, guess what? It’s already been seven months, and the Ruble is sitting there looking stronger than ever while the Euro is basically in a death spiral. Look, I'm not saying sanctions won't do *anything*, but they're definitely going to trigger some massive backlashes. The real question is: how much is the European Union actually going to take the hit for all this? Right now, we're just seeing the winners rake it in: China, the USA, India, Turkey. Pretty soon, politicians are gonna have to deal with people losing their minds over shrinking wallets—and honestly, who knows? We might even see another "random" pandemic pop up this winter, just "coincidentally" appearing right when things get messy.

One thing’s for sure—things are gonna get real interesting once we hit fall and winter. Right now, I bet most people across the US and the rest of the European Union are all for Ukraine, but just wait. Once the freezing weather kicks in and those shortages and power cuts they keep talking about actually start happening? Man, you could be looking at massive protests popping up all over the map. It’ll be this perfect storm of pure frustration from regular folks looking for answers, mixed with a bunch of agitators being stirred up by Russian mercenaries. That’s when we’ll see if the US and its allies are actually as united against Russia as everyone claims to be.

Look, this stuff has only popped up a handful of times, and if you look at the timeline of how everything went down, none of that other nonsense actually matters. But—and this is a big but—it would seriously help me out if someone could just tell me what to do and how to fix this mess once and for all.

Maybe those videos or channels have comment moderation turned on—you know, where the channel owner hand-picks which comments actually show up and which ones get buried...
If that’s what's happening, they probably aren't sitting there glued to the screen 24/7 just to hit approve instantly.

Or, honestly, it could just be your settings—like if you've got the sort order set to 'newest,' 'oldest,' or 'top rated'...

Nah, that's not it. I was commenting away like nothing was wrong around 2 PM. I knocked out comments on ten different videos, so there's no way I'd suddenly be blocked now.

Clearly, that second theory isn't what's going on here either.
Issues with my YouTube channel in IT Support ·
So, I hopped onto my YouTube channel yesterday, thinking I’d leave some thoughts on maybe ten different videos from channels I follow. But by the time I hit the tenth one, I realized my comments weren't actually sticking. Like, they just vanish—they aren't showing up on my end, and the comment count isn't even bumping up for the creator. At first, I thought it was just my crappy internet acting up, so I did the whole "unplug the power strip and plug it back in" dance—classic, right?—but when I logged back in an hour later, still nothing. And look, just to be clear, I am NOT some troll. I don't post anything offensive, discriminatory, or even remotely against the rules or basic human decency. Then, out of nowhere, the problem fixes itself for two hours, only to come screaming back around 10 PM and it's been stuck like this ever since. And yeah, I checked—Restricted Mode is definitely OFF.

I think this has happened twice now. The first time, it was a super short "commenting ban," if you want to call it that. This second time, it lasted longer—maybe 15 hours or so. Does anyone actually know what the deal is here? Is there a fix, or is it just one of those things where it magically resolves itself like the last three times?

Also, just a heads-up, I’m subscribed to about 900 channels. Yeah, yeah, I know, that’s a massive amount, but whatever—I like supporting creators I actually enjoy watching. But here’s the weird part: for some reason, it keeps telling me I’m only subscribed to a little over 600. When I hit subscribe on a new channel, it doesn't even register properly—the button should turn gray to show I'm subbed, but it won't, even though I keep getting notifications from them!

One more thing. Lately, logging into YouTube has been a total nightmare. I'm guessing it's probably just my connection being garbage, but it takes forever to load, and half the time I just get kicked out with some random error message saying something went wrong.

Thanks.

Thanks. Anyway, I went ahead and sorted out that whole mess myself in the meantime. 😁

So, I was working on some stuff in Microsoft Word and I’m trying to move my text over to another Microsoft Word doc, right? But here’s the kicker—it’s driving me absolutely insane. None of my bolded text or headers are actually sticking! It just dumps everything in as plain, boring, unformatted text. Like, seriously? How am I supposed to fix this mess?
So, look, I'm currently running Norton, but my rig is absolute garbage—seriously, it's struggling just to stay alive—and I am dying to claw back some much-needed RAM. My master plan is to just rip Norton out of there entirely, fire up Microsoft Defender, and then load up my web browser with uBlock Origin, Malwarebytes, and that Malwarebytes extension for the browser.

What do you guys think about this setup? Am I actually gonna keep things secure, or am I just asking for trouble? And more importantly, is this actually gonna free up enough memory to stop my PC from choking?

I wasn't even looking for it.
I actually stumbled upon the whole thing through my Facebook activity history—it was just sitting there—plus I managed to dig up a few more bits from memory while I was poking around.

Tried all that junk, but honestly? Total waste of time. Nothing I actually need showed up—I wasn't even logged into my account while browsing, so nothing got saved. There's Data Recovery, sure, but everything comes with a massive price tag. I managed to dig up some history on there, but even if I shelled out the cash, it’s just old, outdated versions anyway... plus, I don't even know what kind of payment methods they take.

So I tried that third method, right? But now I'm totally stuck—how the hell am I supposed to unpack this history file? Like, what kind of program am I even supposed to use to actually open the thing?

I tried doing it that way first, but now the computer is throwing a fit and telling me my protection system is disabled. Seriously?! How am I supposed to turn the damn thing back on?

So I ran some stuff on CCleaner and totally blanked on the fact that I just wiped out something super important from my browser history. How the hell do I get my Google history back? This is urgent.

Man, I totally wiped everything with CCleaner and completely blanked on the fact that I left some super important stuff in my browser history. How the hell do I get that history back? This is a massive emergency.

Which ones should I actually keep, and what's safe to just wipe out entirely? Honestly, I don't even know how many of these things are sitting on here—this computer hasn't been touched by anyone since forever.
