The Most Aggressive Overtake in Formula 1 ·
There's one more killer move from Montoya... back when he was at the USA 2003 race I think? Right as they hit the start of the home stretch, he just absolutely smoked Kimi and Ralf side-by-side (can't quite recall if it was just those two or someone else in the mix...)

USA 2002, Kimi messed up on that last chicane. Ralf was right on his tail and couldn't capitalize, then Montoya, who was trailing Ralf, just blew past both of them

Did you seriously miss that?? Man, you have no idea what you missed... Juan Pablo Montoya messed up during that little skirmish right before the penultimate corner, and Kimi Räikkönen, who was glued to his gearbox until then, was practically breathing down his neck. But even that wasn't enough to carry enough speed onto the straight (it was the old Hungaroring, with that shorter stretch), so Kimi just swung wide on the outside of the next left-hander and pulled alongside Juan Pablo Montoya going into the following right one, giving him a massive advantage. Juan Pablo Montoya didn't have much room to play with and briefly clipped the grass, but he corrected it immediately. I was absolutely floored by that overtake; I actually had the race recorded, but I think my old man ended up overwriting it or something... 😠
Kimi started that race in 11th and climbed all the way to 4th, finishing behind those two unstoppable Ferraris and Ralf Schumacher. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better result after qualifying P11.

Was there a Kimi Räikkönen vs Juan Pablo Montoya moment at the Hockenheimring back in 2002? I think they were driving side-by-side through a couple of turns and then Montoya finally pulled it off right before the stadium section...

Yeah, man, it was beautiful to watch. They were running door-to-door for basically a quarter of a lap before Juan Pablo Montoya finally cleared Kimi Räikkönen. But then Kimi got his revenge at the very next race on the Hungaroring, and on a track where everyone swore overtaking was impossible, too... 😁

That went down at the Hockenheimring

It just hit me today—with the new season right around the corner, maybe we should take a trip down memory lane and revisit the absolute best duels we've seen over, say, the last five years. I want to hear what you guys think!

1. Mika Häkkinen vs Michael Schumacher - Spa 2000.
2. Kimi Räikkönen vs Juan Pablo Montoya - Hungaroring 2002.

P.S. I know, I know... I’m totally biased! 🙂

Alright. So, regarding the manager game, I've got F1 manager '98, but it won't even run, so I can't really tell you if it's any good. I'd love to give it a shot, but there's zero driving involved...

Man, I never actually got around to playing GP2. But seriously, how do you even begin to minimize that sliding in GP4? It drives me absolutely insane! Personally, I think F1 RC is killer—the graphics are basically on par with GP4, and the gameplay is top-tier since you're fully in control of the car. You’ve even got the clutch option if you want it, which keeps the engine from stalling when you take off... plus a bunch of other perks. The only catch is it can be a real beast to drive. Sadly, I can't just send the game over to you; I don't have a disc or anything, it's just installed on my PC and that's that. But honestly, just ask around among your friends who are into gaming, someone's bound to have it lying around somewhere.

Man, I am absolutely obsessed with the 2001 Formula 1 racing Championship. The whole reason is that you actually feel like you're driving the car, you know? Even though the AI is just straight-up brainless... seriously, every other driver is a complete moron. They won't let you pass when they're exiting the pit stop, and if you happen to brake even a tiny fraction of a second too early, they'll just smash right into you... it's ridiculous. It's nothing like GP4 where the car basically steers itself, and the drivers actually behave during qualifying instead of blocking you while they head to the pits, though that game has its perks too. Anyway, I haven't put down F1 RC since the summer of 2001! What about you guys?

Driver of the Year in Formula 1 ·
Even though Kimi didn't snag the championship, he still walked away with the "Driver of the Year" title, pulling in 31% of the votes right over Montoya at 20%. Honestly, that's the absolute bare minimum he deserved after grinding out this whole season in that ancient piece of junk
Correction in Formula 1 ·
I guess I owe all the Williams fans an apology... after those first few races this season, I flat-out said they didn't stand a chance at winning the title. Even though I'm not really rooting for them, man, they have absolutely blindsided me over these last four races. Major props to them. Still doesn't make sense to me how Ralph keeps pulling off wins while Montoya just sits there perfectly happy in second place.

Is Giancarlo actually going to take the win? in Formula 1 ·
I honestly have no clue how this whole race winner situation is gonna shake out, but man... I gotta say, I feel for Fisichelle. He was pulling off some serious magic with that Jordan car (which, let's be real, wasn't even that great). Still, after that second pit stop, he wouldn't have stood a chance against Kimi. That guy is just on another level lately, and Sunday proved it. At this rate, I bet MS is losing their grip on the top spot real fast...
We're gonna be hearing the American national anthem on the podium more and more often...

Quick question in Formula 1 ·
Don't laugh at me because I clearly don't get this, but can someone please explain the actual difference between a sunny day setup and one for rainy weather? I think I grasp how you tweak things for different tracks, but the weather stuff... it just isn't clicking yet. Thanks for the help!

Drivers or the cars? in Formula 1 ·
Häkkinen and McLaren really showed everyone that when you pair a beast of a car with a driver who actually gives a damn, you get results.

A "solid" driver? Are you kidding me right now? Seriously... He was the one guy capable of consistently beating MS whenever his car wasn't total junk and he actually made the grid (back before they brought in Mission Control). And man, I don't think anyone here forgets how he used to tear up the starts. If the DC hadn't been handing him wins on a silver platter—just like how EI and RB used to do for MS—things would look a hell of a lot different today...
New Ford engine in Formula 1 ·
Exactly, winning a championship wouldn't even be news for them... they already pulled it off back in '94 and '95.

"We did a report yesterday that states the American manufacturer is planning on introducing a stronger lighter engine for their home race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July that should run at 900 HP." - www.f1-live.com

Props to the duo, they're both killing it, but honestly? I don't see them taking any wins this season... unless both Ferraris, McLarens, and Williamses all crash out of every single race. They're already out here claiming they'll own the championship by 2006. What's your take?

Like I said before—this season is gonna be a wild ride. We’re looking at a massive showdown where McLaren (meaning Kimi Räikkönen, obviously) is going head-to-head with Ferrari for the championship. Williams already took their new car out, and let's just say they were immediately slower than the other two... so don't hold your breath for them this year. Actually, there is one thing they can count on. They're a lock for third place...
