Ghost Dance: Behind the Facade of Normalcy in Spirituality ·
I’ve been stumbling across this topic for quite a while now, but honestly, most people I run into just don't seem to grasp the actual point they're missing here.
And then, naturally, I end up losing my mind listening to all those tired old clichés about how Native Americans are some sort of helpless victims or whatever other nonsense people throw around.
It’s actually a relief to see there are a few folks in this corner of the internet who can actually look past the noise and see what's really going on.

Freedom is a double-edged sword

The land belongs to those who actually live on it

Genetically modified humans? in Philosophy ·
Sure, the Japanese had plenty of examples of what happens when you mess with evolution after the atomic bomb
you know, two heads, tails, limbs sprouting from places they shouldn't...
🙂
And gunpowder played its part too, if you think about it
it turned hunting from this skilled, expert craft into a little hobby for politicians, drunks, and basically just any random guy who wants to feel important because he managed to take something down using a high-tech scope, a laser, and some kind of glorified handheld cannon
I don't even need to go into the military applications, because honestly, why bother?
It’s just so much easier to drop a bomb or launch a missile at a town or a village than it is for someone to actually step up and do the dirty work manually—honestly, it’s disgusting
🙂
And I feel like the first thing that popped into everyone's collective head when genetic engineering became a reality was the exact same concept: the perfect soldier
I’d love it if someone could actually prove me wrong on that one
I’ll gladly give up my seat for anyone who actually looks like they need it more than I do, no questions asked.
It’s the same logic as why I might drop a few bucks into a pan for someone on the street while completely ignoring some high-priced professional who’s just looking for a handout.

And honestly, watching those poor, shivering old ladies scramble over an empty seat on the subway—it’s almost impressive how they can turn a simple commute into a full-contact sport that would make an NFL linebacker blush.

Humans haven't changed in millions of years... in Philosophy ·
I honestly can’t wrap my head around this whole notion that people today are somehow more intelligent than they were, say, two millennia ago.
What exactly is the proof for that? What's the evidence?

The humans back then had to be infinitely more resourceful than we are just to stay alive, protect themselves, and actually build things...
And let's be clear, they weren't just scraping by; they were thriving, constructing massive monuments that we could barely replicate today, and they clearly mastered mathematics, astronomy, and medicine.

Or is "intelligence" nowadays just defined as being able to swing by the grocery store or drive a car?
Sure, maybe society as a whole has made some strides, but is that the same thing?

I agree it would be fascinating to drop someone from 2,000 years ago into our modern world, but honestly, I think it would be even more interesting to toss a person from today back into their era.

What do you all think—who would actually fare better?
