Honestly, I can't help but wonder how NATO would handle seeing an entire fleet of Russian or Chinese ships—nuclear subs included—along with ground troops stationed right there in America. Then there's the fact that America serves as both a maritime and land gateway to Central Europe. That positioning alone carries massive weight.

Look, Portugal and Greece are miles away—way at the back. America is deep in the heart of the continent and maintains direct sea access to the international waters of the Mediterranean. That matters quite a bit.

So then what does that make Canada, Mexico, North Mexico, or maybe Albania???

Why is America considered so much more vital than those guys???

Yeah, just like when NATO bombed Mexico.

Those "distinguished military analysts" were all talking about America joining NATO the very same day, claiming it was such a strategic and geopolitical prize—except, you know, one tiny little insignificant country like Italy stood in the way with their small NATO base at Aviano...

I really think we're giving this way too much importance....
Man, I feel like I have to jump in here as the husband and say that what really got under my skin—both me and my wife (who’s currently 33 weeks along)—was all that unsolicited advice from those "new parents" types. You know the ones, always preaching, "Oh, you better get some sleep now, because once the baby arrives, sleep is a thing of the past."

Gosh, I swear, I'm about ready to grab a shotgun and 🙂

I’ll grab some pastries in the morning before heading into work, then around 11:00 AM I’ll have lunch at the office—usually something like soup and chicken or turkey with some sides and a salad. By 5:00 PM, I’m back home eating, and that’s pretty much it for the day. I mostly steer clear of pork and heavy, greasy stuff. I also try to drink as much water as possible, and right before bed—or whenever I feel like it—I might knock back about a pint of milk!
And when I’m out on those longer day rides, I usually just stick to sandwiches, yogurt, and milk.

Honestly, I think you might need to scale back your calories just a bit. Here is why... even if you feel like you’re eating relatively well and staying healthy, your body is just burning all that fuel during your bike rides, leaving those fat stores untouched. You really need to drop your intake enough so your system realizes it actually needs to start tapping into that stored fat. Once you get used to that, then you can start fine-tuning the balance between your workouts and your diet...

That belly fat isn't going to budge overnight either, and you’ll probably need to mix in some more aerobic stuff alongside the cycling—like running—plus maybe some core work to get those abs actually engaged...

Morgan Williams4 said:So I’ve got a bit of a question regarding weight loss. I noticed that I put in about 559 miles miles on my bike last month, but the scale hasn't budged an inch. Honestly, even the extra fat on my stomach and lower back isn't showing any signs of shrinking. It was kind of the same deal last year when I did that two-week trek from 932 miles, where I'd get home, step on the scale, and instead of seeing weight drop, I actually gained a few pounds—and the body fat stayed right where it was. Does anyone actually know why this happens?
Just for context, my average cruising speed is usually between 22 and 16 miles mph, and I rarely finish a ride in under an hour!!

There could be a hundred different reasons for that. One of the most common ones though:
Have you actually cut back on how much food you're eating, or just what you're eating overall???
Douglas Ramos2 said:What about laser printers?
Is that toner powder actually toxic? I always seem to end up getting some on myself whenever I shake the cartridge to try and squeeze out every last drop...

From a technical standpoint regarding the machine itself:
A laser printer is basically just a photocopier! It’s the exact same mechanism, just shrunk down into a smaller, more convenient package.

Which means everything we were talking about in the post above still applies perfectly...

Now, as for the powder—the toner—it isn't toxic, or at least it shouldn't be. It's definitely not "poisonous" in the sense that if you wanted to take out your mother-in-law, you could just sprinkle some toner in her coffee and call it a day...

That doesn't mean you should start eating toner instead of Oreos, obviously.
Besides, if there was any actual toxicity or heavy metal content, they'd be legally required to slap a warning on the packaging, kind of like how Clorox or Lysol labels their stuff. Honestly, the bleach under your kitchen sink is way more dangerous than anything inside a printer cartridge...

Bottom line is, don't sweat it too much... ohohooooj.....
So, here's the deal: a photocopier isn't pumping out any ionizing radiation—you know, that scary radioactive stuff—because there’s honestly nothing in the machine capable of emitting it, so you really don't have anything to worry about there. As for other types of radiation, like electromagnetic waves from things like cell phones or TVs (which aren't actually harmful to us), copiers either don't emit them at all or the levels are so incredibly tiny they're basically non-existent, so again, no need to stress about that either. And regarding the toner, like someone else already pointed out, it's just a standard powder; it isn't radioactive and it isn't some toxic substance...

The only thing that might be slightly problematic is the ozone buildup in rooms where these machines are running. During the actual process of transferring the toner onto the paper, oxygen gets converted into ozone, which we all know can be pretty nasty if inhaled. (That’s actually why every print shop or office copier room has that super distinct, sharp smell when you walk in...),

But honestly, we're talking about extremely small amounts here. As long as the room has decent ventilation, those levels are negligible and won't do anything to your health...

Anyway, I hope that clears things up for you...

The only thing I can really speak to here is the enzyme stuff...

Think of those numbers as a window into what’s actually going on with your liver...
GGT is basically a red flag that tells you if your liver is struggling—usually from things like heavy drinking, drug use, cirrhosis, or hepatitis—but in all those serious scenarios, that number is going to be SKY-HIGH. We're talking way over 100... yours is barely moving the needle, so honestly, it doesn't look like anything to worry about...

As for that other one, ALP, it’s also sitting right within the normal range, so nothing to panic about there either; we just need to figure out why it's leaning toward the lower end of the scale rather than being high.

Anyway, that's my two cents...
I don't know, man, based on what you just laid out, it sounds like your health is taking a serious hit. Still, before you go making any big moves, you really need to go see a doctor and get a professional opinion... You can't rule out psychosomatic stuff either (like how your hands get ice cold and your heart starts racing like crazy right before a huge final exam)
So, what’s your current weight looking like, and how would you describe your diet? Have you actually gone in for any blood work lately?

Also, are there any specific anxieties or issues weighing on you right now—like being under massive amounts of stress or having something keeping you up at night? Or maybe you deal with that "white coat syndrome" where your numbers spike just because you're at the doctor's office?

And just one more thing for those who aren't quite sure about this:

A microwave oven is NOT radioactive. That means the electromagnetic (EM) waves aren't sitting anywhere near the UV, X-ray, or Gamma spectrum; instead, they operate at roughly 2.5GHz, which simply isn't enough energy to tear apart atomic bonds.
I heard the whole reason is because it’s packed with orthophosphoric acid, which basically just nukes whatever is causing all those stomach and gut issues we deal with...
