gentlegardener83 said:It’s incredibly frustrating how my hormones act like everything is some massive tragedy... I’ve just been breaking down in tears over nothing for the last few days😢. I rarely cry, and I’m definitely not one to sit around moping, so this feels completely out of character.
Plus, it drives me crazy that my husband doesn't get it.😠

I find this incredibly frustrating too—mostly because I can't stand my own mood swings. Just yesterday, I found myself tearing up while watching a documentary about breastfeeding on Netflix 🙄 because seeing those babies was just so moving, and I started imagining what mine will be like and just lost it.🙄
And honestly, even if it sounds a bit silly, I’m not usually the type of person who obsesses over other people's children or gets overly sentimental about infants... but now, I'm just a mess. The second I see a baby, I start crying from how touching it is.🙄

Plus, it's getting aggravating because I'm starting to have panic attacks (racing heart, shortness of breath, etc.) whenever I realize how little time is left until delivery and everything that follows—it's genuinely terrifying!😲
Then, out of nowhere, I'll hit a wave of pure euphoria and find myself counting down the days.😍

My husband is certainly having his hands full with me.😁
Bryan Diaz said:"Oh, he has them, he definitely has them!" 🤣My husband actually does have stretch marks—though, to be fair, they're just on his hips and are barely even noticeable—but they are there. They showed up after he went through a period of rapid weight loss.

Well, mine does too! And he's been thin his entire life... so if I end up getting them (haven't yet, thank God), at least I won't be the only one in the house... hi, hi.😁
You all really get under my skin sometimes. For the first three or four months, I was absolutely losing sleep over the constant fear of a miscarriage, and then it just shifted into this endless loop of anxiety: why don't I feel anything? Why am I feeling too much? Is she being too quiet or too active? One minute I’m terrified because she’s been quiet for an hour, and the next I’m spiraling about preterm labor. It feels like there is always some new reason to worry. And let's be honest—you have to prepare yourself for the fact that this doesn't just end; you won't suddenly stop worrying once the baby is actually here.🙂
That being said, try to find a bit of optimism where you can. Just remember—we're all in this together!😉

I don't want to sound like the bad guy, making it seem like he "isn't allowed" out just because I'm staying in too... but yeah, here I am, staying home with some pizza and pancakes (which honestly isn't even a bad way to spend an evening 🤣 )
but it's still not quite the same.

If it helps at all, I totally get where you're coming from 🙂

Thanks, dear. It’s actually quite comforting to know I’m not alone in this.🙂 Most of my friends are miles away from even considering having a baby right now, which just makes the whole situation feel even more isolating.

Olivia Miller2 said:Hang in there, let me comfort you... for me, 🙏Guns🙏 🙏are the real deal, but these guys are basically just Axl rose & his backup band 😉
. I heard they were actually great though... I almost went myself... but then I realized what the point was... plus, Axl was never really my type, and now he looks... well, rough
. So I didn't skip out as a protest...
Man, I was a little bummed because I saw Alice in Chains this summer, and I gotta say, the new lead singer sounded like Lenny Kravitz... which was a total NO for me. It's just not Layne
.
And getting off topic here:
After venting about my mother-in-law constantly asking about my weight, Michael Hernandez50 explained to her really nicely that she needs to stop questioning me about it...
We head over to visit them this weekend and everything is fine... until the very last minute when she drops this: "Can you even fit back into your old jeans?" 🙄 Which I obviously answered quite pointedly... like, why couldn't you have kept those comments to yourself during the first few weeks?? (She was asking if I could wear them, not if I could button them or if they were comfortable 😉)

I'm well aware of all that, and I agree with everything you said, but in the heat of the moment, those logical points didn't provide much comfort.
Jeremy Thomas5 said:I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate pregnancy, but yeah, I definitely feel like I’m getting the short end of the stick compared to my wife, and honestly, it's starting to get under my skin.

That is exactly it! It feels silly to say I hate that he’s going out while I’m stuck here—I want him to enjoy himself—but there are moments where I just feel left behind. For instance, Guns was the very first band I ever listened to, and seeing them live has been a lifelong dream. Then, naturally, a few days before the concert, I start bleeding, end up staying home, and my husband goes without me. 😢 I spent the entire evening crying my eyes out, ordered a pizza and some pancakes, and basically just ate my feelings while weeping. At the same time, it would have been ridiculous for him to skip it and waste the tickets; I was actually the one who told him to go, but... well, I wanted to be there too. *Sniff.*
I trust that eventually, this won't feel like such a big deal, but in that moment, it really stung. It felt a lot like what happened last Friday when I wrote that other post.

Ultimately, I just want to say that even though this baby was deeply wanted (it really was!) and I am genuinely happy about it—I still have interests and a life outside of being a mother and everything revolving around a newborn. Because of those things, I’m being sidelined quite a bit, and I know that’s going to continue for a while. Sometimes I don't even think twice about it, but other times, it really gets to me.
Right now, it feels like my husband's life hasn't changed one bit because of this pregnancy, while mine has been completely turned upside down. I spend about 90% of my day stuck at home. For instance, he finished work today, grabbed dinner, and headed straight out to a concert with his buddies. Meanwhile, I can’t even step foot outside because a simple walk leaves me totally winded. I can't grab a drink at a bar, I can't go to concerts without worrying about someone bumping into me, and so on. It’s hard knowing that this is just how it is for a while—no matter how supportive he tries to be, he’ll always have a level of freedom that I simply don't have right now.
God, I would give anything to just get outnnnnnnn, dress up, have some fun... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa—total crisis mode.😢
Hannah Lewis2 said:And don't even get me started on this testing nonsense. Why am I suddenly banned from eating anything? Not even a little bit of chocolate? It feels ridiculous. And what makes this test actually useful anyway? They hit you with such a massive glucose spike that there’s no way you could ever replicate that kind of overload at home. Why can't they just let me use a standard glucose monitor and call it a day?🙄

It doesn't make sense to me either. I don't even eat much sugar normally; honestly, I expect to feel pretty lightheaded tomorrow because I haven't consumed that much sugar in probably two years. This entire procedure feels completely unrealistic to me.

Oh, and I have no idea how I'll even manage getting home, because here in the States (though I assume it's the same everywhere 🤷), you have to fast for the blood draw, then after you drink that solution, they poke you again at thirty minutes, then an hour—that's four separate times in just two hours.
Plus, I’m going to be starving because I was told I can't eat anything after 6:00 PM the night before. So, from 6:00 tonight until after the test tomorrow (and I already struggle with low blood pressure)—it's going to be a very "fun" morning.🙄
I’m at a loss myself. It honestly feels like some people just wake up looking for trouble. My dad had this guy approach him the other day and just bluntly remark, "Wow, you've really aged." Seriously, folks—if you don't have anything kind to contribute to the conversation, maybe just stay quiet!🙄
I mean, what is the expected response to comments like that anyway?
Olivia Miller2 said:It drives me absolutely insane every single time I visit my mother-in-law (and now her sister was there too) and they start with the "Oh my gosh, you can totally tell! Your chest is huge... you've really gained weight... your hips are getting so wide..." routine. EVERY SINGLE DAMN TIME!!! Yeah, I have, because I'm PREGNANT!!! Like, give me a break... and then it’s always, "Don't get too big, honey, you'll regret it later..." Honestly, I'm starting to have nightmares about visiting them. Do they seriously have to comment on the same things every time?
I usually just play along and say, "Yeah, it's pretty obvious now," but they don't get the hint... I honestly don't care about the pounds (my doctor says I'm doing fine, and according to the charts, I'm actually under my target weight), but they've made me feel so self-conscious that I don't even want to go over anymore. I end up feeling like some giant piece of furniture and it just messes with my head... and it's only them. No one else ever brings this stuff up. 😠😠😠😠
So, I've decided: next time they start, I'm telling them if they don't have anything nice to say, I'm not coming back. We'll see how that goes...😠😠

There are plenty of us out there.🙄 I've lost count of how many times my dear mother-in-law has pointed out that I only weighed 100 pounds after having my baby.🙄
Now, she probably weighs 330.
It seems people think the most important question in the world is how much weight you've gained. The other day, I called my office regarding some paperwork, and the very first thing they asked was: "Have you gotten fat?" Apparently, whether the baby is healthy and doing well is completely irrelevant compared to whether I've gained weight.
Taylor Perez said:This is such a great topic for venting some serious frustration!

Here goes nothing:
It’s driving me crazy that I’ve spent the last three months dealing with constant morning sickness and basically isolating myself from the world,
And then, on Tuesday, I found out I have to be on strict bed rest. It means I can't head to Ikea in Denver to pick up furniture for the nursery, I can't wander through downtown or hit the shops to enjoy picking out baby clothes, and I can't drive over to Austin to visit my friend who just moved into her new place. My whole spring road trip is ruined, and my friend from the Midwest was supposed to visit for the first time, but now I won't be able to take her out for lunch or a movie... all my plans have just gone up in smoke. When the weather finally gets nice, I won't even be able to go for a stroll or sit on a park bench and soak up the sun. To top it off, my ultrasound isn't scheduled for another week, and I am absolutely losing my mind wondering if everything is okay. I'm terrified that things won't turn out fine, and honestly, I'm scared I won't have the strength to pull through this.

Then there's the constant stream of random baby name suggestions, and everyone telling me I need to start eating meat—even though I'm a vegetarian! Meanwhile, my blood work is perfect, including my iron levels, and unlike those "worrywarts" out there, I've never been sick before.
I’ve consulted actual medical professionals, but apparently, relatives always know better than doctors.
Or they tell me, "Just sleep now while you can," as if I can somehow sleep ahead of time for the future! As if! Like I can just bank sleep now and then never sleep again once the baby arrives... give me a break.

When I mention I'm having twins, people just go, "Ohhh, it's going to be so hard..." Yeah, thanks for the encouragement, really. And when I say I want a natural birth, I get comments like, "Wow, you're so brave." Like, what does that even mean? Just weird.

The advice "just eat, it doesn't matter if you're throwing up, something will stick" is so incredibly annoying,🙄 As if they could just keep eating normally whenever they have a stomach bug!

So yeah... again, this is a fantastic topic for venting.🤣

My signature is huge!
All this bolded text is driving me insane, too!
I don't eat meat either, and everyone knows that, yet my mother-in-law still feels the need to comment: "Oh, why won't you eat turkey? It's healthy." 🙄
I also avoid refined carbs and things like that, and I get all sorts of comments about that, too. For instance, my mom asked me, quite worriedly, if I wasn't essentially starving my child through my diet. 🙄🙄🙄 Right, because whole grains are considered "starvation" compared to lovely white flour and sugar.
Plus, my lab results are excellent; my iron levels have stayed at the high end of the normal range throughout this entire pregnancy.

The sleeping comments particularly drive me up the wall—as if I can accumulate a surplus of sleep now and just tap into it whenever I need it later. 🙄To make matters worse, I'm already dealing with insomnia, calf cramps, restless legs, frequent bathroom trips...

And then there's the "it'll be hard, don't worry" crowd. Since I'm not expecting twins, I constantly deal with these little threats: "Do this," "Do that," "Enjoy this now," or "Sleep now because you won't be able to later." Honestly, it's like the world stops revolving the moment I have a baby (which, frankly, shouldn't matter to anyone else—whether I get sleep or not).
Jason Lee2 said:I am beyond irritated by all the "labor war stories" coming from the delivery room. It seems like everyone—and I mean everyone—who knows I'm pregnant feels entitled to give me the gory details about how someone else was in labor for twenty hours, or how they wouldn't dilate, or how doctors had to jump on their stomach because the baby wouldn't descend. Honestly, just chill out. I need this information about as much as I need a root canal. I try my best to ignore this kind of stuff online to avoid feeding my own paranoia, yet in real life, where I don't have an "ignore" button, I’m getting hit by heavy artillery from every direction. And I'm only just getting started. At this rate, I might actually kill someone before the due date.

I completely agree; it’s both fascinating and deeply irritating. There is this strange human compulsion to dump every known and unknown birth nightmare onto me. And don't even get me started on the postpartum horrors, like being told to forget about sleep or hearing threats like, "Just wait until you see what happens once the baby is actually here..."
It’s honestly such a nuisance. Every time I lean over the edge of the tub, my lower back starts acting up, which isn't exactly fun, but what really gets to me is the sensation of wet hair clinging to my back. It’s just unpleasant, plain and simple. Even during the summer, as soon as I get out of the ocean, I make a point of tying my hair up immediately because that feeling gives me the chills. It’s gross. But at this point, it looks like I don't have much of a choice in the matter.
Honestly, washing my hair has become such a massive chore lately... I mean, how on earth are you all managing it? I haven't gained a ton of weight—my stomach is still pretty small for being this far along—but even so, just getting through a hair wash feels like an uphill battle. It’s physically draining; my lower back starts aching, and I constantly find myself needing to sit down and catch my breath halfway through the process. It turns into this endless ordeal. By the time I actually finish, I’m so wiped out that I have to lie down for a bit before I can even think about drying it. I'm just completely spent.
Dana Cook6 said:Hi there.

I've been lurking here for a while, so I finally decided to jump in... 🙂
It drives me absolutely crazy when people touch my stomach. I don't even have a bump yet—I'm only about 12 weeks along—but my mom and everyone else just doesn't get that a positive pregnancy test doesn't mean you're an open petting zoo. My mom, especially, keeps trying to rub her future grandkid whenever she sees me, which isn't even that often... it's so annoying.
I guess I'm just wondering, does it bother everyone when someone that close touches them like that? 🙄

Yes, it definitely bothers me. It infuriates me when my mother, or my mother-in-law, tries to touch my stomach without asking. Usually, if friends ask if it's okay first, I don't mind, but when someone just lunges at me without any consideration, I honestly feel like snapping at them, regardless of who they are. Today it's about my stomach, but tomorrow it'll be someone trying to snatch my child right out of my hands.🙄
John Baker5 said:I’m feeling pretty frustrated because my glucose tolerance test results weren't what I hoped for, especially since I’ve been so careful about what I eat throughout this entire pregnancy... 😠 actually, it’s not even frustration, it’s just that I feel really down about it... 😢

It also doesn't help that my sleep has been getting worse lately. I keep waking up in the middle of the night because my limbs start tingling or I get these sudden cramps, which makes it so much harder to finally get comfortable and drift off... 🙄

I honestly can't believe your glucose test results weren't better!😲 I follow your meal plans, and in my opinion, they are a perfect example of what a balanced, healthy diet should look like!

As for that part in bold—I'm going through the exact same thing. For me, using extra pillows to prop myself up in a much higher position actually helped a bit... it seemed to reduce the numbness somewhat.
analogmarlin78 said:During my first pregnancy, people kept making comments about whether I’d put on too much weight,
](as if all that extra mass just magically settled in my hips, making me look wider than a heavy-duty storage cabinet while my belly stayed barely noticeable)😁-

honestly, I wanted to snap back at them—back when I wasn't even married yet, so I didn't have to worry about being polite—and tell them that my husband's family has a strict rule against dating anyone under 200 pounds, so I basically had to bulk up overnight just to qualify.😁

I find it incredibly obnoxious when people say, "Oh, you've put on some weight, it shows in your face." What am I supposed to say to that? I honestly don't know how to respond to comments about gaining weight or getting thicker... I mean, come on, I'm seven months pregnant!🙄

analogmarlin78 said:My doctor actually told me that the numbness in my hands was caused by an iron deficiency, and honestly, ever since I got my levels back up, the tingling hasn't been nearly as bad.

That wasn't the case for me; my iron level is at 29 (and anything up to 30 is considered normal).🤷
Linda Ward312 said:I’m honestly losing my mind because I haven't slept a wink in two nights, just constantly being jolted awake by this sharp, stinging pain shooting through my hands 😠😢
Probably something going on with my neck or spine...
I’ve been telling everyone for months now that that fancy Tempur-Pedic mattress everyone raves about is way too soft for me 👎

I’ve been dealing with this for about 15 days now. Just when I finally settle down and start to relax, it kicks in—and it’s always my right hand. Last night, I was up at 2:00 AM, and then again by 7:00 AM. Between the arm issue and the fact that my little one was throwing a literal party in her stomach all night—she’s never been this restless—it’s been a rough stretch.
wanderinghawk said:It would almost be funny if she weren't being dead serious about all this.🤣
She’s already mapped out every single meal for the first month, deciding she needs a high-end food processor because heaven forbid the baby eats anything that isn't perfectly pureed.😂😂

You’d think she’s never even dealt with a child before...😕

This sounds eerily similar to my mother-in-law. She had two babies under her roof—one breastfed, one not. Well, the non-breastfed one started solid foods much earlier, whereas the breastfed one hadn't even started yet. And let me tell you, listening to the theories she was spinning—claiming the little one was "frail" and needed things like bits of ham or just dipping their fingers in grease to "get used to flavors"—was enough to make my head spin.😲
I am 100% certain that if I leave my child alone with her for even a minute, she’ll be shoving sugar, honey, or whatever else is off-limits right into the baby's mouth.🤮
That’s why I’ve realized the only way to keep my sanity is to ensure neither she nor my own mother is left unsupervised with the baby for even a second. There’s no other way; if I tell them no, they’ll nod and agree to my face, but the moment I turn my back, they'll go ahead and cause some kind of trouble.
wanderinghawk said:My mother-in-law is driving me up the wall right now. She acts like this baby belongs to her instead of me and my husband... They just bought a portable crib because they’re already planning for when the little one stays over at their place. 🤷 🤷
She even had the nerve to suggest the baby should spend the first month sleeping at their house constantly, supposedly so I can "rest and recover." ☕
And then there's my husband. He reacts to all of this like she hasn't said a word... 🙄 He just tells me to stop complaining and change the subject.

😂😂😂 Honestly, I can't laugh at you—I have to laugh at your mother-in-law and these ridiculous ideas she's coming up with!
My own mother had similar notions! She actually bought a massive king-sized bed thinking my child could just sleep right between her and my dad! 😲 🙄 And if I refused, she'd argue there wouldn't even be room in the bedroom for a separate crib! 🤣
The logic some people use is just baffling.
The worst part of all of this is that no matter what I say, I'm always the one being labeled as "too nervous," "unstable," or whatever else. Somehow, I'm always the problem. So perhaps your husband is right—it might be better not to even comment on such nonsense. You just end up getting worked up while they couldn't care less.
Kyle Ortiz2 said:Some mindless cleaner from my old job totally rubbed me the wrong way. I was out visiting some friends—they’re honestly great people, we were all joking around and having a lovely time—when this woman just barges in. She starts blabbing, "Did you hear? A's sister just had her twins. Everything seemed fine at the checkup last week, but then..." As if she didn't realize I'm also pregnant. I was practically out of commission all day yesterday, and everyone else there knew that and was being tactful, yet she just had to be incredibly insensitive and spill everything right in front of me.

😲 What a total mess! Unfortunately, it's not an isolated incident... a colleague of mine had her OB/GYN tell her that while the baby seems perfectly fine now, things can always take a turn for the worse in those final weeks. Honestly, I don't get what's wrong with people. We pregnant women are already high-strung enough as it is, constantly worrying if we're feeling too much or too little movement, whether a certain discharge is normal... there are a hundred different things to obsess over, and apparently, that's still not enough. Of course, bad things can happen, but a car could hit me on the highway tomorrow too; I don't see the point in dwelling on it.
