Everything is just sliding backward at this point

Do you really believe everything starts at home?
If things are stable at home—if parents are attentive, caring, understanding, yet firm when necessary—and if a child spends quality time with their family and friends, do you honestly think a random advertisement can turn them into an idiot?
Sure, it might distract them or fill their head with nonsense for a moment, but once they realize something feels off, they'll find their way back to reality.

I knew he was incompetent, but he manages to surprise me with a new level of ineptitude every single time.
He and "his" police force are the primary reason we’re in this mess; so many people have been bypassing isolation protocols—everything from those tourists coming in from Turkey to the endless crowds of skiers from Tyrol and other resorts.

Now we have to spend our time justifying to these local sheriffs why I need to drive to the next county just to pick up my prescription... as if they suddenly gained some kind of divine authority overnight. Nobody is asking for permission to stroll through malls or hang out in public squares; we’re talking about basic necessities. In small towns like ours, we're effectively under lockdown, even if they don't call it that.

Everyone loves to point fingers and act like all of China went into total lockdown, but they’re conveniently forgetting that those strict quarantines were only happening in one or two provinces. The rest of the country was still grinding away just so everyone else could keep living their lives like nothing was happening.
I can't even begin to process this. 👍 I honestly don't get why people are fighting so hard against increasing the number of tests. Like, seriously? And don't even get me started on our testing capacity. It’s absolutely mind-blowing that we only have three labs—counting both the government ones and private outfits—in the entire country capable of handling this. To make matters even worse, one of those three is currently sidelined because they're missing some essential equipment. It's a total mess.
Look, maybe we can’t squeeze in any more testing right now, but honestly? We can just spin that to sound better by saying we’re running at absolute max capacity. If we frame it that way, it sounds productive. Otherwise, it just looks like they’re dragging their feet on the job we’re all paying them to do.
It’s like people are totally ignoring the upside of that approach. If you actually find out how many people are infected right away—even if it’s just a rough estimate—you can get them isolated immediately. That’s how you actually slow the spread. Once you've got a handle on that, you can finally loosen up some of those suffocating restrictions so life can actually start feeling normal again.
Those little number cards they use at places like Plodin? Total mystery to me too. Like, seriously, why is it such a massive struggle to just track how many people walk through the door and head out? It’s not rocket science.

And we did it without any connection to our families... because technology basically didn't exist, and I won't even get into the other reasons for that...
But you people? In this era of high-speed internet, smartphones, and endless apps, you think being alone for a little while is some kind of crisis...
If things actually got real—if you had to dodge the police or bust through blockades—you’d be running.
I agree, there's no point in this debate. You honestly have no clue what actual shit looks like—especially when your mother or your wife is waiting at home, praying you actually show up alive...
Or what it feels like every single time you say goodbye before heading to a post where you won't be back for weeks...
Or going back out into the field for the first time after being wounded, trying to deal with the chaos in your own head while watching your mother refuse to let go of your hands...
There are things you haven't experienced, and you should just thank whatever Bog you believe in that you didn't have to.
This is a minor issue that can—and must—be fixed...
Nobody said it would be easy, but the sheer amount of pathetic whining here is getting a bit much... especially considering everything modern technology provides.
Adam Collins4 said:But you aren't even complaining about the economy—you're just upset because you can't go see someone...
That is a completely different issue; the economy is moving along as well as it can...
But, since you brought up the economy...
If the government shut down all the potential hotspots—restaurants, bars, various shops and small businesses—and limited how many people can be in places like grocery stores, pharmacies, or repair shops, then why on earth are they allowing people to travel dozens of miles and potentially spread the virus?
Are you guys seriously not watching what's happening in the UK, Spain, or France?
This isn't about being heartless; it's just how things are right now...

Personally, I think it's kind of a drag that I got put in isolation because of work, especially since my chances of actually getting sick are super low.
Now I'm just sitting here wondering how I'm going to justify missing work, since my job isn't exactly something I can do remotely.
I guess I'm just worrying too much—it's not like I'm under house arrest or in prison, so nobody's actually out there trying to limit my freedom.
