What's the worst thing you've ever thrown up? in Off-topic ·
Women can be so gross sometimes, I swear. A coworker left an open yogurt in her desk drawer—just sitting there growing some kind of science experiment—and now she’s out on sick leave for ten days. So now I'm just sitting here watching another lady at the office trying so hard not to gag, but she won't even touch it to clean it up because she's terrified the other woman will get all defensive if anyone touches her desk. It's such a weird vibe.

Kimberly Rodriguez51 said:Seven, or maybe you're just lying to yourself thinking you actually read all those articles on this thread, or maybe there's just a major misunderstanding here.

I mean, I did say I checked out the related links available... maybe like three of them. It's not exactly an ocean of info, and honestly, I don't really see what else I'm supposed to be looking for.

I'm not trying to crucify anyone, really, but I am trying to point out where things might have gone wrong.
And it kind of burns me up when the first person who finally realizes how much it sucks for a kid to have little things like IV fluids or oxygen kept away from their room—when the ER is literally fifteen seconds away—gets yelled at. Meanwhile, people are writing stuff about how we should just "understand" that the ER doesn't have a lab available on weekends, even though they sent a feverish kid back twice over the weekend while they were already on antibiotics.
TWICE.

Two things here. First, someone is definitely being criticized for forming an opinion based solely on news reports—and I don't mean Luz, but I do see a whole mob of idiots in the comments ready to grab torches and start a riot. Second, the working conditions... I was talking about that. When it comes down to actually budgeting to make sure these things are covered, everyone suddenly goes silent or turns against it.

P.s. in that sea of articles, it also mentions how the doctor spotted sepsis just by looking at her—the child was lethargic, confused, had blue tinting around the edges, and was struggling to breathe.

I don't know about any swelling, but everything else sounds like the flu... which, if I understood correctly, she was already on meds for?

Kimberly Rodriguez51 said:The Chamber and the inspectors should handle it within a week, assuming the index info is actually right.
I mean, I don't think you've quite got the full picture here. There’s no way that doctor messed up the diagnosis; she could see the kid was going into septic shock just by looking at him at the door.
And we aren't talking about an "act of God" situation—it's more like the parents were literally screaming for help and just kept getting sent home.

Just another tabloid story, I guess—but hey, you're making assumptions, and honestly, I'm not even doing that.

How do you spot sepsis just by standing in a doorway? Like, do people with sepsis just die at every age while being monitored in a controlled hospital setting?!?

An "act of God" would be if things went south right after the kid left the building. I always feel like people think I'm some kind of weirdo because I don't think we should crucify professionals—people pass away, it's heavy, but what's the point of constantly tearing apart a team working under those kinds of conditions? If there's actual liability, then let there be sanctions—but based on what I've read, it shouldn't be a lynch mob on the street deciding things; it should be the medical experts.

Richard Sanders7 said:Man, we’d know exactly who to blame for this kind of crap right away. I mean, seriously, there wouldn't even be any guesswork involved. We'd just point the finger and move on. It's funny how that works, I guess. Maybe it's just because things are so predictable now? Anyway, yeah. Just knowing. 😁

Man, you are being seriously intolerant. I mean, honestly, it’s just... wow. 😁

Honestly, people from that Metkovski Hitan crew should just head out, if you ask me. I mean, they really should.

Just wait, you'll see... soon enough, we'll be seeing doctors coming in from all over—Ghana, Gambia, everywhere. Just watch.

Kimberly Rodriguez51 said:So, after checking him out, the pediatrician took him and his dad down to the ER, which was just one floor away from her office.
They gave him oxygen and an IV, and I guess they called for a medevac.
Or maybe they didn't, I don't really know, but if they didn't, then that's on them, right?
I mean, it doesn't make any sense for a doctor in a regular clinic to be handling a critical emergency if the actual ER is just 15 minutes away.
And the people in the ER—look, I get it, their working conditions are rough, I really do—but they sent him home twice that weekend.
Twice! A kid with a fever who's already on antibiotics, and they just sent him back.
Then, in the official inspection report, they start making excuses about how hard it is to work there and how they can't get lab tests done quickly enough, yet somehow this pediatrician is being blamed for not providing adequate care.
That’s the part that just... it really gets me worked up.

But wait, who is actually blaming her? Honestly, nobody. Not here, and not even in those reports the tabloids are leaking. Even if she made a mistake in how things were handled, you can't blame someone for stuff that's totally out of their control.

So, last year, I ended up going back for checkups a few times because this cough just wouldn't quit on me. One visit I had a fever, the next time nothing at all, but the coughing, the hacking, and that damn pain... it just wouldn't stop. I even got my lungs scanned and everything came back totally clear, but still no relief. Finally, the doctor sent me off for a swab and some allergy testing, saying they tend to keep older folks around with symptoms like mine because it could be any one of fifteen different things. Man, it's frustrating... they just don't know, they can't know, they aren't omniscient or anything.

Look, it doesn't bother me if people are angry, but I think it’s just silly to get worked up over the wrong things. It's not like I was downplaying anyone's death or trying to defend anyone, obviously. Honestly, all this finger-pointing at doctors and the whole healthcare system just ends up driving everyone toward private clinics or moving away from the US entirely.
What's the worst thing you've ever thrown up? in Off-topic ·
Honestly, you're being kind of ridiculous here.
the illness wasn't caught early enough, nor was the severity of its clinical presentation fully understood

So, I guess that's why there isn't an answer... doctors aren't gods, after all.

oversights during the initial emergency care

Do you even realize who this is actually about?
Maybe you should just go back to school and get an MD, since you clearly have it all figured out. You’d probably be more useful than those poor doctors who spend their whole lives studying just to get torn apart by these "expert" Google warriors online.

But, uh, who am I defending? Who even are my people here? I guess I'm just wondering about that part.
What's the worst thing you've ever thrown up? in Off-topic ·
Look, I never once claimed to be some kind of expert or linked any specific sources to back myself up, so... I don't know. Do you have anything else completely wrong about what I said?

I mean, I guess I agree with you on one thing—there are definitely smarter topics out there where you can just vent like this, so I think I'll just head out.

Drew Ross2 said:it’s just... you went in there talking trash without having any clue what was actually happening 👍
and honestly, nothing changes for you, but maybe you could have just kept your mouth shut this one time.
you’re being such a loser about this, I really can't even laugh.
and the worst part? you don't even know how to back down when it turns out you were dead wrong. just absolute bottom tier behavior.

alright, I'll say one more thing and then I am seriously done with you—go ahead and go wash your windows with a tabloid for all I care.

I was just commenting on the article you posted. I looked at the related stories too. And I found that you're just talking nonsense because (unofficially, obviously, like everything else reported) three people are under investigation, not just some pediatrician. The medical experts basically said they can't confirm negligence, but maybe a different approach would have led to a different outcome.

and look, if this is you trying to defend someone, then you're choosing emotional fools over actual professionals. those people are working for peanuts in conditions that are just... inhuman.
What's the worst thing you've ever thrown up? in Off-topic ·
So, I’ve been scouring everything online—seriously, I read just about every single thing available—and honestly, nothing you're claiming has actually been proven or even officially stated. Like, three people are still under investigation by the authorities, and let's be real, the boy was incredibly sick... I mean, it’s hard to say if anyone could have actually helped him given how bad things were at that moment.

The American Medical Association commission can't say for certain if faster or different treatment would have changed the final outcome, though there is a higher probability the boy might have survived if the doctors had acted differently.

Is that really all you need to start a whole huge outcry???
What's the worst thing you've ever thrown up? in Off-topic ·
Exactly, I haven't. You didn't actually provide a medical report or anything, just a link to some tabloid site. It doesn't say what happened to him, what the situation was when he was admitted, or even what caused his death. But hey, I guess it's important to just go after the system, right? Look, I’m not trying to defend anyone here, but you're definitely taking a side without having any actual information. Which side am I even supposed to be on?
just chill out and stop being such a jerk.
What's the worst thing you've ever thrown up? in Off-topic ·
So, I mean, you’ve got two ER doctors down there, and then there are like 400 people sitting in the waiting room every single day... they're basically just straight-up thieves. It's wild.

Oh, and honestly? My stomach just turns every time I hear someone claiming they're defending a certain group when there isn't even any actual data to back up a final verdict. It's just... yeah.
What's the worst thing you've ever thrown up? in Off-topic ·
Drew Ross2 said:I mean, yeah, she really should have just hooked her up to oxygen and an IV right there in the pediatric wing... I guess. Even though the ER is like, what, ten seconds away from her office? It just seems... I don't know, maybe it was just one of those things, but it feels weird.
So, I was just thinking about this... it’s honestly pretty heavy. There was this situation where the ER—you know, the emergency services—sent a terminally ill child home. Twice. Like, actually twice. And the note they left behind? It just said the kid was drinking warm tea. I mean, I guess... maybe that's how they see it? But it feels so wrong, doesn't it? It just seems so incredibly dismissive of what was actually happening. I don't know, it just sticks with me. It’s just... yeah.
I mean, she should be facing some kind of penalty now, right? I don't know... those idiots at the ER did absolutely nothing. And that doctor there—the one at the emergency room—she actually had the nerve to say the kid died just because they "weren't lucky." Honestly, I can't even wrap my head around that. It's just... wow.
Screw those seven idiots this time around.

I mean, I guess... what are you even trying to say? It’s like, you just dropped this one word and now I'm sitting here wondering where we're headed with this. Maybe I'm overthinking it, honestly. I tend to do that. But yeah, what's up? kaže:
Look, man, you really need to just back off for a second... or, I don't know, maybe just do a little bit of homework first? Seriously.

rapidtrucker78 said:Get lost, man. Seriously. Just... go away. ☕

Look, let’s not be foolish here. You really shouldn't draw conclusions based on what some tabloid is printing. A friend of mine had this happen—his dad went to his doctor with a nasty cough, got his prescription and some sick leave, and then he just stepped outside and collapsed. Immediately, everyone started freaking out, asking how that was even possible or if the doctors were just messing around or something. But, it turns out, he actually collapsed because of something else entirely—something that a standard lung or respiratory exam wouldn't even pick up on, you know? It wasn't something with visible symptoms at all. I guess it just goes to show... maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions so fast.

I don't know, I guess it just honestly makes my stomach turn sometimes... seeing how we've become this kind of society where people either get put on a pedestal like some kind of saint or they get absolutely dragged through the mud just because of some trashy tabloid headline. It’s just... yeah. It’s a lot.

"A leak just happened," they say—and suddenly everyone’s ready to grab their pitchforks and torches because some tabloid published an article claiming we need to drag this to court before anyone even knows what's actually going on.
What's the worst thing you've ever thrown up? in Off-topic ·
I mean, why wouldn't she just help him? My doctor runs this tiny little clinic over in suburban Ohio, but honestly, they’re geared up for pretty much anything that comes through the door. And man, forget about dragging someone into court just because of some article in a tabloid... I guess there's no telling what the actual legal dispute is even about here.

Roger Cooper91 said:What’s the deal with labeling someone a "snowflake" on an American Reddit thread, especially when most of the people throwing that word around clearly live in the States and use terms like that every single day?

I mean, if you check out the alternative sites, you'll see there's this specific group of people who are constantly posting links to these weird news outlets where 'experts' claim that a simple juice made of beets and carrots can cure absolutely everything—from chronic issues to bad finances and even bad breath.

Yeah, okay, maybe I was being a bit too intense there. But honestly, this guy did a decent job listing those entries from that nail guy—I changed the nickname on purpose because, let's be real, we don't tolerate people acting like they're geniuses here. He’s just pulling entries from random PDFs that have absolutely nothing to do with what we're actually talking about.

Richard Nelson84, that’s just not the case with this guy. He doesn't even try to hide how politically biased he is—he’s basically a follower of that high schooler Goldstein and all those wild theories and ways he interprets history. I mean, if someone calls you a radical or a fascist just because you're citing official findings from actual government institutions... well, that's not really how normal communication works, I guess. Plus, none of the admins seem to have an issue with him, so maybe they actually support that kind of behavior.

quietpilot2, regarding adblock—honestly, I haven't seen a single ad in years.
