Ear cleaning tips? in Health ·
Why are we even stressing over all this nonsense regarding ear cleaning? Honestly, just rinsing your ears with shampoo during a shower and giving them a little swirl with a finger should be more than enough—and if you ladies have anything to say about it, at least you've got the advantage of having slimmer fingers.😁
Maybe robotics could actually help you achieve that dream—I mean, obviously, becoming a biological Bumblebee isn't happening😁, but a robotic overhaul? Now that’s doable.😁😁

Picture this: instead of wings, they bolt on a propeller from a B-52 bomber and fuse it right to your spine. They’d probably insert a specialized probe through the rear to simulate a stinger, and for vision, you’d wear some blacked-out goggles programmed entirely in hex code. To get that authentic look, they'll take those eight legs from a Mars rover, mount them onto your abdomen, and slap on some yellow and black paint. Easy peasy. As for the buzzing sound, we won't even need to simulate that—you can just make the noises yourself.

You serious?

PS: This is just version 1.0. It’ll definitely get better over time—eventually, they might even install an automatic tutu so you don't end up making a mess of people's heads.😁

I mean, isn't that just how life goes for everyone!😉

On a related note, a girl I know who lives in a high-rise made an interesting observation—you can hear everything from drilling to music coming from the neighbors' apartments. Personally, I’d go a step further and say you can hear it from two or three floors away, too. Back when my parents were living in their apartment building, if someone was out in the basement chopping wood—well, let's just say if someone was doing heavy maintenance down there—it would echo right up to their third-floor unit. Just that constant *thud-thud* day after day through the winter... It’s basically a way to play with people's nerves.👎

Since they aren't the type of people to look for a fight, they don't want to confront those neighbors directly.
The thing is, most people—if you actually point out the noise they're making—tend to take it as a personal attack or an insult. Once that happens, the neighborly harmony is pretty much ruined for good.👎

Tell me about it.😎 😉

So, where does that leave us?😁

I’m still sleeping in past 10:00 AM.😁

I happened to catch an ad recently for some kind of Bonsai tablets that are supposed to help you drift off and actually improve your sleep quality!
Has anyone here actually given them a shot?

Since I’m not currently in the US, I’m not entirely sure if you can pick up those yellow ones (the Band-Aid brand) locally; they should be fine since they're quite soft...
She used to wake up whenever her alarm went off, but presumably, the earplugs help block out all those distant background noises.

I find that part a little counterintuitive—nearby sounds stay constant, while distant ones tend to fluctuate. 🤔

I suppose an alarm clock is just that—an alarm clock; it wakes the living and the dead alike.😁
Keith Doyle18 said:I’m constantly being bombarded by noise—cars driving by, my partner’s snoring, even the neighbors upstairs... honestly, the solution is pretty straightforward. I just grab some earplugs at Walgreens for a few bucks and sleep through the night like a baby.

But how do you actually wake up in the morning if you can't hear your alarm?
Don't those earplugs get uncomfortable when you roll over during the night?
And do they really block everything out entirely, or do you still hear muffled sounds coming through?

I’m currently fighting a losing battle against my own internal clock—honestly, I’d give anything just to feel somewhat functional after getting more than six hours of sleep, but some nights the brain just refuses to shut down.

It seems like if I don't hit that seven-hour mark, I'm basically running on fumes, and I’d really love to have enough energy left over to actually sit down and finish the book I've been meaning to read...😢
Insomnia is actually kind of entertaining in a weird way—it’s like you’re running on some sort of unidentifiable stimulant. You feel shameless, prone to those sudden outbursts of rudeness, and your sense of humor becomes totally warped. There’s this strange surge of arrogance, a misplaced sense of superiority that I think comes from having just enough consciousness to be cocky, but not enough to realize how ridiculous you're being. Plus, there's that constant slow motion effect everything falls into; at least, that’s how it feels to me.

On the flip side, it’s absolute torture. Your body is basically screaming for sleep, and the mental fog is unbearable. You lose any capacity for deep thought or nuance; instead, you end up rambling aimlessly, which usually just leaves whoever is listening feeling confused or annoyed.😁

One thing I find oddly satisfying about being sleep-deprived is being fully aware of my own hallucinogenic tendencies—even if I can't really do anything to stop them... until I finally make it home.🙂

If you ask me, this all suggests that if you don't drink alcohol but still want to show up to a party where everyone is acting eccentric, there's an old-school "folk remedy" you can try:
just get about three hours of sleep for two nights straight, and you’re guaranteed to be the life of the party.👍
Actually, if you have a surplus of ambition and truly want to make a lasting impression at a social gathering, don't sleep at all.😁 😁
So, I guess six hours is your absolute bottom line—the point where you just refuse to go any lower.

Getting seven or eight hours of sleep isn't exactly some massive achievement 😁 ; personally, I try to stick to six, and honestly, I’m feeling pretty damn tired right now. But I persist because I’m always short on time—I need that extra hour to just unwind with my favorite book 😁.

There really is nothing more blissful than crashing into bed when you're physically spent from a long day, a heavy gym session, or whatever else you've been up to—so I say go all out during the day so you can truly earn those few hours of rest.😉

But what about dark circles under the eyes?
Do you deal with them, and how much do they actually mess with your look?

Sleep and dark circles are inextricably linked; there’s nothing worse. For instance, just look at George W. Bush—have you seen what happened to his eyes after he took office?!
They weren't just dark; they were puffy and uneven, which honestly made him look quite haggard.

What do you guys think?
I'm guessing you hit the sack at the exact same time every single night—like clockwork—so your internal rhythm has basically become as predictable as a scheduled train arrival?
How many hours of sleep are you all getting on a typical night?

For my part, I try to aim for six hours, though—if I’m being honest—getting ten would be much more delightful, even if it meant the day flies by a bit too quickly.

Do you think six hours is that absolute floor we shouldn't dip below (setting aside the inevitable crunch time before a big exam)?
Does anyone know of a top-tier pro athlete who manages to thrive on just six hours?

And how do you all actually fall asleep quickly?

I certainly haven't mastered it. I just toss and turn in bed, mentally replaying everything I did during the day until I feel like I've been slow-roasting like a rack of lamb. 🙂

Here is a little excerpt from a book I’m currently flying through:

"Don't you want to sleep?"
"No, I'm afraid."
"Afraid of sleep? Why on earth? It’s a blessing everyone strives for!"
"Ah, if only you weren't like me... if only sleep wasn't an omen of horror for you!"
"An omen of horror! Good heavens, what could you possibly mean by that?"
"I don't know; oh, I simply don't know. And it is truly terrible. That exhaustion finds me within my dreams; so, I dread even the mere thought of it."
"But my dear girl, you may sleep tonight. I am here to watch over you, and I promise nothing shall happen."
"Oh, I can trust you!"
"I promise to wake you the very instant I see any sign that you are having a nightmare."
"Will you? Oh, really? How kind of you! In that case, I shall sleep!"
