So, I was reading some studies the other day—you know how it goes, everyone’s got an opinion—and apparently, you need at least seven hours of shut-eye just to stay sane and functional. Though, let's be real, everyone's body is wired differently. Personally, I hit my stride when I manage to snag about 7 or 7.5 hours... if I get any less than that, I'm basically a zombie walking around. What about you guys? How much sleep do you actually need to feel human?

Through my own empirical research, I’ve arrived at very similar conclusions😬

Man, maybe I’m just asking a pointless question here—I mean, this stuff has basically been proven in practice for ages. Plus, I don't really have any impact on anyone else's sleep schedule, unless, Heaven forbid, I’m actually getting in their way during some... intimate moments. 😁

I usually get about 10 hours of sleep. Sometimes even more. If I don't hit that mark, I’m basically a zombie for the rest of the day.

Ten hours? 😲 That’s just on weekends. What is wrong with you people, sleeping until 10 AM just to catch eight hours?

I'm at my best if I get 6 hours. If I hit 7, getting out of bed is a total struggle. 8 hours? Yeah, then I'm fine.

Maybe 8 hours minimum, but honestly, could be over 12.😁

There’s honestly nothing quite like settling in for a solid 14-hour stretch of feeding...

Well... that's a fair question, though I'll admit I've been sleeping far too much lately. 😬

I’m clocking about eight or nine hours a night, which is actually part of the problem; I always seem to function at my absolute peak when I stick to six or seven hours and make sure I'm out of bed no later than 9:00 AM. But ever since I finished my degree, my schedule has completely fallen apart—I find myself drifting off around 2:00 in the morning and not crawling out of bed until 10:00 or 11:00. Honestly, I really need to get my act together. I need to start being productive again, maybe hit the local gym more consistently and finally nail down those post-grad plans. 😉 😉

Eight hours, give or take an hour. If I allow myself to sleep significantly longer than that, I find myself feeling strangely inert for the remainder of the day. Conversely, if my rest is cut short, I am certainly more prepared for work, yet I find that my energy reserves deplete much faster.

I’m currently fighting a losing battle against my own internal clock—honestly, I’d give anything just to feel somewhat functional after getting more than six hours of sleep, but some nights the brain just refuses to shut down.

It seems like if I don't hit that seven-hour mark, I'm basically running on fumes, and I’d really love to have enough energy left over to actually sit down and finish the book I've been meaning to read...😢

Four to six hours during the week, maybe eight to twelve on the weekends. 😳

Around 6:00 or 7:00 AM, I’m already feeling like a zombie. I just can’t get enough sleep. If you look at what I’ve attached, it’s pretty obvious: it’s usually because I’m doomscrolling online. I have this compulsive need to be on my phone right before bed—doesn't matter if I was studying, hanging out, or just chilling outside, I *have* to jump online. It’s a total cycle, and I always end up paying for it the next day. Ideally, I’d be knocked out from 11:00 PM to maybe 7:00 or 8:00 AM, but honestly? Getting myself to actually put the phone down is an uphill battle. 😢

Maybe for you. Personally, if I sleep ten hours, I just wake up feeling like a crumpled piece of paper—my whole day is basically trashed... that "overslept" feeling is the worst. I usually stick to about seven hours during the week, maybe nine on the weekends if I'm lucky. That’s plenty for me.

And what about those of us who actually have jobs and can't just sleep in all morning? It seems like everyone chiming in here is some college student!

I work; I don't get up before 10 unless it's like, an emergency or whatever.

I work a lot and still get enough sleep—I’m up early. >, are you working part-time or just staying up way too late...

around 5

I don't feel like I'm getting enough sleep, but honestly, that’s just because I’ve been staying up way too late lately. I’ve noticed that if I actually hit the hay early—like by 10 PM at the latest—I feel way more rested even if I sleep fewer hours than when I stay up until the middle of the night like I have been.

Since I have to be up for work and I tend to wind down late in the evening, I can't really push past 5 AM anymore.

In my experience, I feel my absolute best when I stick to a schedule where I'm in bed by 9 or 10 PM and up around 4 or 5 AM.

I'm putting in over 8 hours every single day. I basically just start working once I finally wake up and keep at it until I can't focus anymore.

You really need to calibrate your bedtime so you actually wake up naturally right before your alarm goes off.
Basically, you have to commit to an earlier schedule every single night until you hit that sweet spot of biological balance.
It is completely backward—though unfortunately, it’s become the norm—to let an alarm clock dictate your sleep cycle.
Doing that just leads to mood swings, brain fog, mistakes, irritability, aggression, total dysfunction...
