Honestly, it’s like you don't even live in this country... It's not like every single case gets handled at the exact same speed or follows the same timeline. You'll have one situation where everything just runs out on the statute of limitations, while someone else gets hit with a penalty for the exact same thing because their case didn't expire... It all really just boils down to the court and the judges, depending on how backed up they are and how much effort they actually put into things...

Good grief...
I mean, come on—if you even sneeze too hard near their jeans, they basically fall apart right there on the floor! 😁
I only brought up Mango because I already listed all the other brands above and didn't want to be repetitive. A friend of mine owns two pairs of theirs and they’ve actually held up pretty well...
Austin Chavez76 said:Honestly, I feel like no pair of jeans will ever look right if you don't have the right build or long legs... I usually go for skinny or slim fits... there's more, but it's pretty rare to find something where I actually like both the color and the cut—I'm not really a big jeans person.
don't even start with that bitterness. there are seriously so many different brands, cuts, and colors out there now that you really don't have to fit into some specific body type just to wear denim...
and since you claim you aren't a fan, I guess it's just because you don't have the right assets to make them work ☕
but hey, Target actually has some decent jeans this season, super simple, straight-leg stuff, nothing too extra. luckily out of like twenty styles they have maybe four or five that aren't skinny jeans (which honestly make me want to gag)...
William Edwards14 said:Look, I really didn't mean anything by saying "I'll try to explain this to you guys." I wasn't trying to imply anyone was being slow or condescending—honestly, I’m a complete amateur when it comes to half the stuff people talk about here. Like, if you asked me about trading Apple or Tesla stock, I'd probably sound like I'm speaking a foreign language, haha. I just know people tend to mix up terms like formal objections or an Appellate Court filing and things like that, so I was just hoping to simplify the concept a bit. I'm definitely not trying to act like a know-it-all; I spend plenty of time on the other side of the legal line myself... anyway, cheers🙂
Look, I’ve got zero issues with someone stepping up to explain things, it’s just that whole condescending "let me educate you" attitude that really gets under my skin... we've all been grinding away in this community for months now, you know?
If you’d actually taken the time to scroll through this thread, you’d see it’s already been explained a million times over, but somehow there's always someone popping up with the exact same question...
And just so you know, you don't always get slapped with a citation or whatever right then and there on the spot either.
If they didn't issue it right there on the spot, then the local Split Police Department should be sending it out from wherever the violation actually happened... I mean, he’s gotta receive some kind of official decision or a formal citation that he can actually file an appeal against, because things don't just work that way without paperwork 🙂
If they ended up getting hit with a citation, there should be some instructions right on it about how to fight it... basically, you just file an objection with the court within 8 days.
So, if you’re looking to contest the fine amount, just write up an appeal explaining that you’re a college student and that this is your absolute first offense... if it actually is, of course. Honestly, there's a 99% chance they'll knock the price down for you once you lay it out like that.
And whatever you do, don't try to use the excuse that you didn't read the citation because you were in such a rush to get going... seriously, that's some playground level nonsense and it won't hold any water in front of a judge.
Regarding that other hypothetical situation you mentioned—there isn't some automatic rule for that, it really just depends on the specific details of the case, and ultimately, it's up to the judge to decide how it plays out...
I kept getting these sharp, stabbing pains, and after some testing, they figured out it was actually coming from my bladder... turned out to be an E. coli infection. It was happening a few times a day, pretty much consistently for a couple of months, right in that spot where the ovaries are located...
Lisa Williams47, the whole point of setting up this thread isn't just to have a single spot where all these traffic violation questions live, it's more about making sure people asking the questions can actually find quick answers to what they need without having to dig through the same old advice and repetitive comments that pop up on every other page...
Like I was saying before, there aren't really any hard and fast rules about how this goes... it all just depends on how backed up the local courts are and whatever mood the judge happens to be in that day... but honestly, there's always a fighting chance to argue for the statute of limitations to kick in...

Here’s the situation: I was cited for improper lane entry/failure to yield; the result was a minor fender bender—no serious injuries or major damage.
The summons for my first hearing came 60 days before the date: accepted. First hearing happened 8 months after the accident. We went over the facts and I challenged the police report (my lawyer wasn't involved yet; I just gave my statement and then disputed the report's accuracy right there in front of the judge and the clerk)
Now, I'm waiting on a summons for the main trial, which usually happens about 6 months after the first hearing. I missed it because I wasn't home—totally my bad.
Question 1):How long should I expect to wait for a rescheduled trial date? Question 2):When does the statute of limitations expire for an offense like this?
Thanks in advance for any help... On one hand, I believe you should take responsibility for anything illegal you've done. But on the other hand—seeing all those high-profile cases where people commit way worse offenses and get away with it because they have deep pockets (looking at you, Smith & Sons)😠
What kind of timeframe are we talking about?
1) Honestly, in the US legal system, there's no way to know for sure how long it takes 😁 2) The absolute statute of limitations is 2 years from the time the violation occurred
So, is there anyone here who actually knows how they handle contesting tickets? I honestly can't wrap my head around how this whole thing works... I mean, if a violation actually happened, you'd still have to prove otherwise to get an earlier citation tossed, which means the fines are still coming eventually anyway, so I just don't see the point of the whole process...
