New build under $1,250? in Desktops ·
mellowtiger83 said:So, what’s the reasoning here? Just one reason if you’ve got it? Please?🙂🤣

Honestly, I think it’d be smarter to grab a slightly weaker GPU and dump that extra cash into more RAM instead. In my experience, bumping up your memory usually gives you a better bang for your buck than chasing a top-tier graphics card. If I were building this, I’d go with a 1-2GB card paired with 16GB of RAM. To me, pairing a 3GB card with only 8GB of RAM feels like a total April Fools' joke. No offense intended, but that's just how I see it. 🙂

You're putting "only" 8GB of RAM in a $1,500 rig?

Honestly, I think 16GB should be the absolute baseline. 😉
Mixing different brands of RAM. in Desktops ·
Alright, here’s the deal. I’ve currently got 2GB of RAM in my rig, split into two 1GB sticks. A buddy of mine is upgrading his setup, so he’s offering to let me have one of his 2GB sticks. The catch? They’re different brands and different setups. Mine is 2x 1GB, while his is just a single 2GB stick, though both are DDR3. Should I be worried about mixing them? I know my motherboard has three slots and can handle up to 4GB total. My only real concern might be Windows, since I'm running a 32-bit version, and I think you need 64-bit to actually use 4GB.

Has anyone else here tried "mixing" RAM sticks? How did it turn out for you?

Unless they specifically point out that it was 🙂

Nah, not at all. There wasn't any kind of advantage.🤣

They showed that chart with the lap times and gaps, and he gained quite a bit. 🙂

From what I saw, nobody could touch Sergio Perez for a while... 😬
For three whole days, they were just stuck behind him. It was Perez leading the pack, followed by two Red Bull Racing cars and a Williams Racing—Perez was out front, with the other three trapped right in the DRS zone.

I think the Grand Prix of Canada is a bit faster than Monaco. It's a nasty track though—super narrow with zero room for error if things go sideways. Just a total pain to drive.

Massa went full kamikaze. 🙂
Perez. 🙏
Alonso basically slapped Bottas. 🙏
Total Finnish scam and a rookie mistake. 🙂
Ric. 🙏

Got some questions, because I'm pretty lost here.
Did Perez's brakes just give out at the end?
I think something broke on Rosberg's car since Ric just blew past him like that.

Honestly, I’d say Ferrari is sitting at 5th right now. Based on all those speed trap numbers everyone posts after a race, FI, Red Bull, and Williams are definitely faster than them.

Given the absolute junk car they’re driving, I think Ferrari is actually squeezing out every bit of performance possible—especially Alonso. 🙂

I’m just crossing my fingers that Force India manages to land that third-place spot. 😛

Is Ferrari actually struggling?

Bottas had a car that was twenty times faster than Alonso's, yet he still got schooled by him. 🙂

You clearly missed that part. 😁

I feel for Perez, he was just starting to pull some solid points out of it for Force India. 😢

It varies for everyone. I’ve heard stories from people who have been on them for over a year and only gained maybe 6 pounds. For me, though, the weight gain was sudden and pretty significant, even though I used to be a scrawny kid back in the day. Honestly, there are just so many different factors at play.

I've been on Alice for almost four months now, and honestly, it’s been great—I feel way more upbeat, and those mental breakdowns have definitely calmed down, both in how often they happen and how intense they get.
The catch? I've put on some weight—about 13 pounds since I started taking Alice.
Look, my mental health is obviously more important than a few extra pounds, but I can't help wondering: will my appetite finally settle down once I stop taking Alice?
I'm not talking about quitting on my own or anything crazy, I just want to know if anyone else who was on antidepressants managed to lose the weight after they finished their prescription?

I put on about 40 pounds myself. Went from 132 to 172. I held steady for the first year, but things really started spiraling around month 11.

Unknown. 😁 Honestly? I'm not so sure about that. Personally, I think Vettel gets way too much credit.

Some of these new kids didn't exactly blow anyone away this time around. 😢
Way to go, Mercedes. 🙂 Lewis. 😁 Can't wait for an awesome race tomorrow.
I’m really digging some of these new kids on the block. I’m crossing my fingers they pull off another surprise at the Grand Prix of Malaysia, just like they did back in Australia. 🙂
What's going on here? Since when did everyone suddenly become a Mercedes fan? 😬
Honda's return to NASCAR. in Formula 1 ·
Jerry Jones3 said:You really think so?

I actually think McLaren's first discarded engine will end up in the hands of a Japanese person. Plus, McLaren mentioned they've already started collaborating with Honda engineers on certain things. From what I can see, Honda is essentially getting a one-year head start on engine development. They'll gain massive experience through this partnership with McLaren, learning all the flaws ahead of time by studying the current best power unit and refining it over the next year while development is frozen for everyone else. It’s true that Mercedes said they'd be careful about what "information" they share with McLaren because of Honda, but the reality is that McLaren will have access to it all. We saw how the Red Bull Racing masters moved over to Renault to fix that engine; I'm sure the McLaren drivers will do something similar with Honda—maybe just lend them some staff for a bit 😁

Anyway, regarding Honda, it's a great move. It would be awesome to see more diverse suppliers, like if another team joined, or even hearing rumors about Porsche (they originally wanted in at Daytona, but Audi blocked them) or the return of Cosworth. Honestly, seeing this kind of variety in racing is brilliant, especially when you look at all these different cars 😍

Actually, BMW shut down those rumors about joining NASCAR a long time ago. 😢

I did hear some chatter that Toyota might be making a comeback under the Lexus name, though. Nothing's official or even denied yet—just a rumor at this point.
Honda's return to NASCAR. in Formula 1 ·
I know it might be a bit early to start this conversation. But since there isn't a dedicated thread yet—assuming the mods are cool with it—let's get it going. 🙂It feels like nobody is talking about this, and I really don't think we should let this slip under the radar.

So, here's the deal: those crazy Japanese engineers are heading back to NASCAR in 2015. McLaren is switching over to Honda engines that year. Since Honda didn't jump into the sport this season, they've got a full year to dial in their engine development. I'm not sure if they even had an engine ready for this current season. If they did, why on earth would McLaren stick with Mercedes?

What’s your take? Will Honda use this extra time wisely? Will this window give them enough breathing room to build a superior engine? And could this move actually turn McLaren into a massive powerhouse in the sport?

Talk. 🙂
