Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Does anyone happen to have a decent urologist they could recommend in San Francisco?

I feel like Amanda Lopez50 hit the nail on the head regarding what this instruction ought to look like, since art and music in elementary school serve a completely different purpose than a high school course designed to broaden one's general film culture, and just as you weren't expected to be Da Vinci in art class—even if you had to understand composition, color theory, and lighting or recognize the masters—nobody expects you to walk out of a film studies class suddenly knowing how to direct a feature or write a screenplay.

I wasn't talking about those elementary school art and music classes where you actually get to pick up a brush or sing your heart out, but rather the high school version where they just lecture you on architecture, famous painters, sculptors, and composers... I can't speak for every school district out there, but in my experience, there was zero hands-on work involved, just endless theory (though they might show you a few paintings or play some classic tracks, we certainly weren't actually creating anything ourselves).

Do you guys think we should actually bring film studies into the school curriculum, right alongside things like music, art, and literature? I honestly feel like cinema is a fundamental part of our shared culture, rather than just being the mindless distraction most people seem to think it is. What's your take?

Such a great movie! I’ve only managed to get through the first one so far, but I'm planning to knock out the other two this coming weekend 🙏 Honestly, the original English title is just brilliant; it's such a shame there isn't a way to capture that same genius in an American translation.
There are only six episodes out 😕 Does anyone know a decent site for downloading this stuff? I can't find anything lately, just a bunch of ancient torrents that don't even work...

Why is this dude acting like he’s constantly turned on?

Sasuke from Naruto

😍 I don't know, I’ve always had a soft spot for Alphonse.
And Shikamaru from Naruto is just such a great character... 🙂
Then there's someone from Last Exile🙂
and all that... it's honestly hard to pick favorites when everything feels so fleeting.
How do I become an early bird? in Health ·

My internal clock—which feels more like a broken Timex🙂—usually nudges me awake around 7, but I just end up rolling over, hugging my pillow, and drifting right back under.
And honestly, those two and a half hours leading up to ten o'clock are always a total disaster... I’m tossing and turning every ten minutes, every little sound from the street bleeds through the walls, my neck is killing me from the way I slept... yet I still can't bring myself to get up, I just lie there sulking.
I tend to have these really heavy, unsettling dreams during those final few minutes of sleep, too.

So, how does one actually train themselves to get moving earlier... say, around 7:30?

Anyone else here stuck in this same loop?😕

Yeah, I'm in the exact same boat, except I stretch out that "sleep" until 11:00 AM. 👎 It leaves me with a pounding headache and feeling like absolute garbage all day, but since it's the holidays, I just can't force myself out of bed when I don't have to. 😈
The advice from brisknomad6 is actually pretty solid; you basically just need to find some sort of reason or a hobby that's actually interesting enough to make getting up early worth the effort.
What scenes absolutely terrified you? in Movies ·
Some gambling den... honestly, I can't even recall which one. There was this guy drinking what he thought was water, but it turned out to be pure acid—maybe hydrofluoric?—and then you just watch him start dissolving from the inside out...
