So, I’ve got a chance to grab some whey protein at a pretty good price, and I wanted to pick your brains on something. I’ve been hitting the gym and lifting weights for about four months now, but my real goal is to drop some body fat while building muscle mass. You know, that "ideal" body recomposition thing.
Up until now, I’ve just been grabbing whatever quick snack I can find after a workout, so I haven't really paid much attention to the details. But I'm wondering: if I just have one shake with those proteins right after training, will it all just turn into fat? Or does it go 100% toward building muscle? Like I mentioned, I'm really trying to lean out.
If it won't turn into fat, should I still eat something else after the shake, or is the shake enough on its own?
Just for context, I'm 6'5" and currently weighing about 210 lbs.
Well, it really depends on how hard you're actually pushing yourself during your workouts to determine if it goes to fat or not... But, say you had a solid session and then had something like 50g of protein and 50g of dextrose (fast carbs) right after, I think that would be alright. Then, maybe an hour after that shake, you should have a solid meal consisting of protein and carbs. That's probably your most important meal, so definitely don't skip it. Honestly, every meal matters, but that one is huge...
