The irony is that today, it’s actually a major Mexican city 😵.

Why are we Americans such losers??

Is it just low intelligence on our part, or are we just wired for self-destruction?

🙂It feels like we haven't really earned the right to have a country.

Wait, can you explain that? Last time I checked a map, that city wasn't even in California, let alone in the middle of it.

to offset much larger debts?? 😕

At Walmart, they have this whole system for offsetting stuff. They'll swap just about anything—we're talking everything from office supplies and tires to full-on marketing deals through their own agencies. Seriously, they’d probably trade anything from a tiny rubber band to a freaking space shuttle if they could.

Jerry Cooper3 said:well, that's only because they're locked in a bitter feud, much like how Nestlé and Walmart used to be!

Nah, actually Heinz is going head-to-head with Tyson Foods directly.

nimblecobra8 said:Walmart would really just be a way to round things out, you know? Like, maybe a move to expand their distribution network for their own manufacturing and finally get some serious traction in international markets.

Walmart has already hit about a 30% market share, so they can't really push much further in retail. They lost out on Kroger even though they were interested. If they actually picked up Target in the region, it would create a massive outlet for Pik, Del Monte, Star, and the rest of the brands under The Walt Disney Company umbrella.

And hey, if Tesco ever decides to head south from Canada, they might drop an offer so good it’ll be almost impossible to turn down.

The rumors didn't even start in America; they're coming out of Canada, with people sniffing around Walmart. And you know how it goes—where there's smoke, there's fire, right?

Personally? I don't see a sale happening in the next couple of years, but who knows? Anything can happen.

Heinz can't even touch Kroger in a fair fight.😉

I mean, if they somehow manage to get their hands on Walmart, anything could happen, right? 😉

ReturnOfTheJedi said:Even if these folks were pulling in at least $30 an hour while everyone else was stuck at $15, people would still moan about them being overpaid. Seriously. People said the exact same thing ten years ago when even the entry-level pay at places like Walmart was lower than what we see today. You just can't win with certain crowds, right?

Some people are just never satisfied 😉

But hey, let's be real—retail workers have it rough. It’s non-stop grind at your average Target or Kroger. You're stocking shelves, jumping on registers, hauling freight, or dealing with returns... there's zero downtime. But honestly? Hourly staff probably won't see those big jumps anytime soon. If they did, the whole math behind skill levels versus paychecks would get totally thrown out of whack.

Honestly, things aren't looking too bright over at the Walmart group either. They already dumped KOZMA, and word on the street is they’re looking to offload some of their other "crown jewels" too. Like, I heard from some pretty solid sources that Zvijezda might be up for grabs next.

There's also some chatter that Tesco is circling around Walmart,

But let's face it, Walmart is drowning in debt. Selling off even something like Walmart itself feels like a total long shot right now.

nimblecobra8 said:Why "unfortunately," though? If the average salary is around $55k, logic dictates someone has to be pulling in less than that. Who? Just please don't tell me it's politicians or some other cliché.

Well, it's unfortunate because the average *should* actually be around $12,000, and those folks should be pulling in at least $6,000. That’s why it sucks.

Man, forget a system where the average is $6,000 just because a tiny group makes way more while everyone else struggles below that line. And let's be real, that top group is probably less than 10% of us anyway.

nimblecobra8 said:And I don't see how any of that connects back to my point. I'm just calling out this nonsense regarding labor wages. It's like people think some clerk at Walmart deserves a higher paycheck than $1000 in a country where the average is only five and a half bucks.

Look, it's not all black and white, which is why I brought you into this. The reality is those workers are probably stuck with those same low wages whether they work for him or anyone else.

But honestly? Agribusiness is like a cancer in the US economy. On one hand, they make some progress, but on the other, they just swallow up every small supplier and partner with their "unique" way of handling payments.

If you want to know who's actually causing the cash flow crisis in the private sector, look no further than Walmart.
Milton Hershey's "Life's Journey in Close to Politics ·
nimblecobra8 said:Workers? I mean, how much do you think some lady working at Walmart should be making? Let's be real, these are pretty much the lowest-paid jobs on the planet. If you jack up their wages too high, nobody would ever shop there anyway. Honestly, it feels like a lot of empty rhetoric. You really think people were getting paid better back in the old days?

My company does business with Walmart, and man, we haven't seen a real payment from them since like 2008. They just want everything to be a trade-off. That’s the whole issue with Kroger/Walmart... they use their massive size to trap people, then they squeeze 'em and don't pay up.

One of the big produce distributors, Return, went belly up because Walmart wouldn't pay them the $4 million they owed.

There are tons of cases where Walmart intentionally pulls a huge amount of inventory they have no intention of paying for, waits for the company to go broke, and then just buys them out for pennies.

Charles Jackson5 said:Look, I’m saying those rules should be applied a bit more flexibly when we're talking about politics—or at least the edge of it. In a political debate, you actually *want* to provoke your opponent. Not through the usual mindless stupidity you see everywhere, obviously.
Because that's how you actually see what they're made of—their motives, their worldview, and ultimately, whether their arguments even hold water.
Why do people clash so fiercely in Congress? It's to sharpen their ideas and assert dominance. I’m not talking about supporting loudmouths or thugs—it's about helping people whose logic gets drowned out by the sea of idiots who, despite any supposed "decorum," kill the entire point of a discussion. Those are the real spammers and trolls, and honestly, that’s why moderators need to be high-quality—so they can actually tell the difference.

If you ask me, there should only be two hard rules for the political sections: no mentioning family members and no downplaying crimes or abuses. Period.
The situation has improved significantly because moderation on the political fringes has become more flexible—and overall, because the admins finally grew a backbone and purged the nationalist spammers and provocateurs who have always been the core problem and a burden on this forum.
Now that they're gone, you can see how much smoother the political debates run and how many new users are actually joining in.
It means less work for the mods and fewer toxic mantras or hateful rhetoric.
That’s the right direction for this place—it’s about time it was realized. Get rid of those few radical chauvinists and you’ll have a political forum worthy of the major American political forums.

That’s just how it works in these low-rent systems, right? It’s all about baiting the other guy. You basically try to make them look like a total joke just to get under their skin. The goal? Troll them until they lose their cool and snap back at you. It’s way easier than actually using logic or having a decent debate, isn't it? So everyone just dives straight into the cheap shots, starting with small jabs and eventually spiraling into full-blown personal attacks. Just typical.

We gotta rip this stuff out by the roots, right? Fast and hard. I mean, think about it. You’ve got ten trolls killing off a thousand good, helpful people. Why? Because those ten agitators just keep spamming twenty different threads at once, one after another. It's wild, isn't it?

I haven't really seen anyone actually win an argument on Reddit or Twitter just by using logic, you know? Most of the time, people just get heated by poking fun at each other or some low-key trolling. It’s all about the banter, isn't it?

I mean, obviously, I’m not talking about those brainless, half-baked tactics you see popping up all over Washington lately. You know the ones. Total nonsense, right?
I mean, honestly? It’s all about getting a real look at who you're actually talking to. You get to see their whole vibe—their motives, how they see the world, and ultimately, if what they're saying actually holds any water. Isn't that the whole point?
Ever wonder why everyone in Congress starts throwing shade and getting all heated during debates? Like, why can't they just chill? Wouldn't it be way more effective if they actually focused on strengthening their own arguments and proving their points instead of just yelling? Just a thought.

.
Honestly, why do they act like that in Congress? It’s because the whole culture of debate is just... bottom tier. I mean, some places are absolute trash, while in other spots, people are practically throwing hands on live TV! Someone really needs to start handing out bans in there, don't you think?

Look, I’m not trying to give any favors to the loudmouths or the total jerks online. Honestly? I just want to protect the people who actually have something smart to say—you know, the ones whose points get drowned out by a massive wave of trolls and spammers. It's frustrating, right? These guys act like they have manners, but then they swoop in and completely derail the whole conversation. They just kill the vibe. That’s exactly why we need top-tier moderators. If you don't have someone who can actually spot those subtle differences between a heated debate and pure nonsense, what's the point? We need pros who can tell the difference.

Loosening up the rules only helps the trolls, honestly. Why even bother? Normal people are already keeping things chill and respectful anyway. Strict rules don't even touch us regular folks, so what's the point?

If you ask me, politics—especially when things get messy on the fringes—should really boil down to just two simple rules. First off, leave family out of it. Seriously, why bring them into the fray? And second? Stop playing games with crimes. No more making excuses or acting like bad actions don't matter. Isn't that how it should be? Just keep it simple.

Maybe we should play it a bit safer with the politics, you know? Like, we really need some ground rules here. Honestly, why even bother debating when the quality of discussion is such a joke anyway? After just two or three posts, everyone starts throwing around labels like "fascist," "commie," or whatever other extreme political slur they can dig up. It’s exhausting. Once that happens, all the regular, sane people just bail. They're gone. Why stay? Looking at the threads lately, it feels like maybe 40% of the topics are actually decent, but the other 60%? Pure trolling. It’s just people digging up old grudges and trying to force these ancient beefs back onto the feed. What's the point?

I’m telling you, things have really started looking up lately. Honestly? It’s mostly because the folks in D.C. finally stopped being so rigid and started playing things a bit more flexibly on the political side of things. Isn't that just how it works? You loosen the grip a little, and suddenly everything starts moving again.
modding, or just politics in general... basically because the admins and mods finally grew some backbone and cleared out those nationalist spammers and provocateurs who were always causing drama and dragging this whole forum down.

fixed?? man, half the people here deserve a ban, and every third thread is either racist, offensive, discriminatory, or just straight-up trolling.

Now that they're gone, political discussions are actually flowing better, and we're seeing more new folks joining in.
The mods don't even have much to do now, and there's way less toxic mantras and heavy insults flying around.

what?😕🤷

That's the right way to go, bringing this place up to the standard it deserves. Glad they finally realized it. Get rid of those few chauvinist crazies and you've got a political forum on par with the big-name US political boards.

The "right way" started once the crackdown began, not before... once the bans started flying, people actually started watching their mouths.

And it's not like all this happened just because you got a warning for mocking Ronald Reagan?? Look, I think everything about Reagan was bad, but he deserved a warning for two reasons: one, changing his name like that is just rude and low-class, not satire, and two, you're basically making fun of a guy for a physical trait...

Just say Reagan was corrupt or Bush was a thief and you've made your point. Anything beyond that is just trolling because you're trying to bait his supporters by poking the bear.

I don't get why you want to sink to the level of these trolls and make it easy for them to wreck the forum...

hollowtrucker77 said:Well, if you ask me, there’s a massive difference here, and I’m not seeing how anyone could argue otherwise.
One guy is gone, nothing left but a fading memory and some old stories, while the other is still very much alive, walking free, and fully capable of standing up for himself or filing a lawsuit if he feels like it...

Hmm, but rules aren't usually written based on whether someone can fight back or not... right??

I think the rules state it pretty clearly: twisting someone's name just to insult them is against the rules, regardless of whether that person can defend themselves or not. In this case, using Krivouksić and Burdus with capital letters makes it obvious the intent was to use them as names... calling someone "thief Sanders" doesn't fall under this rule, but using "Ivo Sanders" in a twisted way does. Same goes for "liar Mason"—that's one thing, but "Mason Burdus" is definitely an insult.

Now the big question is, is "Krivouksić" an insult? Is it written that way to be mean? And is "Burdus" an insult? Is it used in an insulting context? (Personally, I think it is.)

Article 5, Section 1 of the Politics subforum rules applies to using derogatory nicknames for both forum members and third parties. So, from here on out, we won't tolerate malicious name-twisting like: Sranjo (Harmon), Kradimir (Čačić), Smranader (Ivo), and things like that. Maliciously twisting members' usernames will also be sanctioned as insults.

That's the exact wording of the rule... seems pretty clear and straightforward to me, don't you think?

Even in the examples provided, both Sanders and Čačić are alive and able to defend themselves or sue, yet twisting their names into Smranader and Kradimir is still punishable.

I mentioned Burdus—not the first time, not the last... ☕

Nothing flagged so far. Maybe next time 🤷

But now I’ve got one moderator saying everything is fine, while another decides it isn't and hands me a ban... 😕

What's the actual criteria here? One says yes, the other says no... 🤷

It just seems like a total judgment call by the mods, right? You can see it clearly from those two comments by two different guys. I guess we have to wait for some higher authority to step in and settle the score. But honestly, if you want to dodge a strike, isn't it better to just stay away from nicknames or twisting names entirely? Doesn't matter how "mild" the insult is intended to be, right?

Roger Reed49 said:Look, nicknames are one thing, but intentionally twisting someone's name like you're doing with those examples? That's a whole different ballgame. It’s like you can't even see the difference, let alone grasp what's actually happening here. Honestly, I feel like I'm just talking to a brick wall at this point. Why do I even bother?

I don't get why you’re being so patronizing. You really think that tone makes your arguments any better in a normal conversation? And what's with always dancing right on the edge of an "incident"? Seriously?

I mean, I think everything’s pretty clear here, right? Of course, anyone can always play dumb if they want to. But when someone actually lays it out like that... what else is there to say? Joe Biden Barack Obama So, it's pretty obvious that's what we're talking about, right? Man, people really love throwing around insults on this board, don't they? Whether it's just messing with other members or taking shots at public figures, the nicknames fly fast. It’s kind of wild to watch sometimes. Anyone else noticed how quickly things turn into a roast session here?

Don't you dare try telling me that everyone else is doing it on other sites. We both know that’s no excuse for letting stuff like this slide here, right? And seriously, don't even try to claim that calling Joe Biden a slur isn't an insult. Let's be real.

Look, this isn't the place for us users to just go at each other. I’m not looking for a fight. I just wanted to point out which part didn't line up with the rules—just in case someone actually didn't realize it. You know, so nobody else ends up catching a ban next time. Wouldn't that be better? Just a heads-up from the mods or admins would be great here.

Look, if you’re just looking to start a flame war, I’m out. I’ve already laid it all out for you—clearly showing exactly which part breaks the rules and why. At the end of the day, it’s on you and everyone else here whether we actually want to follow them or not. If we don't? Well, we can't act surprised when we get banned. That's our right, isn't it? We have the right to get kicked off the platform if that's how we choose to play it.

Article 5 of the Politics subforum rules says:

Article 5, Section 1 of the Politics Code of Conduct applies to the use of derogatory nicknames for both forum members and third parties. Basically, starting today, we won't tolerate malicious twisting of names like: Sranjo (Franjo Tuđman), Vladimir (Čačić), or Smranader (Joe). Misspelling or mocking members' usernames will also be treated as an insult and sanctioned accordingly.

P.S.
Long-legged Vito, since you're the president, you really should have these rules down pat, right?😉
