redcobra92, I totally get why you're so frustrated with that doctor given everything you've been through, but honestly, this post feels a bit mean-spirited and, if I'm being honest, probably shouldn't have been made.
Daniel Richardson4, it’s been just over two months for me, and I still get this really weird sensation whenever I laugh—my nose feels swollen, especially at the tip. I even tried putting on my old glasses, but there's no way they'll fit because my nose has gotten too wide. 🙄 I guess we just need to be patient and give it some time to settle down.
steelangler88 said:I’m happy to report some pretty significant progress in my recovery. The swelling is finally starting to go down, and my nose is actually looking much better! I still have that follow-up surgery scheduled for 11 months from now, but honestly, I am just so thrilled with how everything turned out so far. I just wanted to share the good news!😁
Only my closest inner circle knew about my surgery—my best friends, my husband, my primary care physician, and my nurse, plus my aesthetician. My mom didn't know either; she eventually caught on, though mostly just because she saw the bruising and swelling. Beyond that, nobody else was in the loop. It’s funny, though—those who were aware tell me the difference is night and day, while everyone else hasn't said a word, so I suppose they haven't even noticed.
I didn't bring it up much at first. Whenever I did mention it, I usually ended up just sitting there listening to people comment on how "perfect" my old nose was and how I didn't need to change anything... so I eventually just stopped talking about it, which turned out to be for the best. Was my old nose pretty? Not really 🙄. It wasn't exactly terrifying, but it certainly wasn't attractive, and for as long as I can remember, I've wanted to fix it.
It's been about a month and a half since the procedure, and honestly, my nose seems to look smaller and more refined with every passing day. There is still a bit of a bump at the tip, but apparently, it takes about six months for that kind of swelling to fully subside.
Sophia Young73 said:When I got out of bed this morning, everything just went black all of a sudden. I collapsed onto the floor and started shaking uncontrollably. Once I finally came to, I honestly had no idea what had happened. I passed out. This has absolutely never happened to me before. Now, I’m starting to worry—could this be related to my surgery from three weeks ago, back on July 11th? Has anyone else ever experienced something like this in their life?
I’m inclined to agree that it probably shouldn't have anything to do with the surgery. 🤷 Though, I suppose I did have those moments where I felt like I was about to pass out myself, but since I hadn't had much of an appetite and was barely eating anything, I just assumed that was the cause.
rustygardener172 said:It looks absolutely gorgeous from the front, though you can definitely tell there’s still quite a bit of swelling when looking at the profile... especially at the tip... I was always mentioning that "bulbous" tip issue. That part takes the longest to settle down... for me, it took about 5 months 🙂 It's already beautiful, and in a few months, it's going to be perfect. 😍 👍
I have to agree with rustygardener172 😁 your nose looks amazing, especially from the front view. Mine has a bulbous look from the front 🙄 and one side is significantly more swollen and painful than the other. I’ve actually stopped obsessing over my nose lately, but suddenly that left side started aching and stinging—it isn't intense pain, per se, just a weird discomfort or something... I guess.
Has anyone else experienced nose pain starting about a month and a half after surgery 😕 or has anyone noticed their tip being thicker on one side than the other? 😕
I’ve actually noticed a little bump right on the side of my nasal bridge myself. It was pretty obvious at first, but now it’s mostly just something I can feel if I press on it with my finger. I’m leaning towards thinking it might just settle down and disappear on its own over time.
Jamie Kern8, I’m dealing with some asymmetry too. My left side feels wider, and the tip is definitely thicker on that side, though it’s already looking much better than it did immediately after I had the cast removed. It’s been about six weeks since my surgery, and before the procedure, my nose was completely straight.
I suppose you really ought to prepare yourself for every possible scenario, though personally, I didn't find myself needing any of the things mentioned above.🙂 For the second night in a row, I slept on my side, even though my nurse told me I could actually tuck my hands under my head and sleep on my side starting from the very first night. As for hydration, I stuck strictly to water; on the first night, I kept walking over to the water dispenser just so I wouldn't bother my nurse, but after that, I just kept a bottle right by my bed. I didn't bother with any compresses or ointments, either. My surgery was at 4:30 PM on Monday, and by 4:30 PM on Tuesday, I was already hanging out at Madison Square Garden... Honestly, I was terrified of dealing with pads and having a full-blown panic attack, but everything went surprisingly smoothly. I'm only sharing this because I know how it feels to be in those shoes—scouring every single post on this thread, just like I was doing only a month ago before my own procedure.
Yesterday marked exactly one month since my surgery, and I feel like my nose gets a little more beautiful every single day.😍 I absolutely love it and my new look.😍 One side of the tip is a bit thicker and the bridge feels slightly wider, but I'm fairly confident that will settle down with time. To be honest, nobody who doesn't already know would have even noticed I'd had anything done, except for my mom.🙂 While I was cleaning my nose yesterday, a little scab came off, and there was a stitch dangling from it.
I'm curious to hear how everyone else's recovery is going...
I’m really just here for the aesthetic side of things, so my doctor mentioned that once the packing was removed, everything functioned perfectly... I suppose when they break your nose, they have to clear out all the mess before they can properly reconstruct it from scratch. 🙂
Does anyone know a good soul who could teach me how to shade eyes in photos? Please!
rustygardener172, you’ve enlightened me... I actually went out and bought half a liter of saline solution today for $3.25 🙏
And just one question for the more experienced folks here... How long did it take for your face to finally look normal again? I’m still pretty swollen, specifically around my eyes and on the left side above the nose, and on the right side below the nose 🙄 my nose looks like I've been smearing grease all over it...
Megan Moore76 said:Ladies, you all have such amazing noses. 🙂 I was wondering, do you need to stop taking certain medications, like hormone treatments (Diane and such), before having the surgery?
Actually, no—I specifically went ahead and took them during the month leading up to my procedure just so I could delay things for a few days.
steelangler88, I have to say, looking at those photos, your nose doesn't look any less prominent than mine, and I’m actually quite happy with my own results.
They didn't mention anything about drainage to me either; I only saw someone mentioning it on a forum, so I suppose I'll just ask during my follow-up appointment this Tuesday.
I'm dealing with some lumps and swelling myself, though I'm not really losing sleep over it—honestly, if it stays that way, it's fine by me. As far as I understand, it's perfectly normal for some thickening to occur at the fracture site, and eventually, it should settle down.
I’m planning on heading out, though I’m honestly not sure how long I should wait—it’s only been 19 days since my surgery. I have no idea what facial swelling or drainage actually looks like 🤷 since I only had work done on my legs.
steelangler88, would you say your nose looks wider now than it did before, or what? What exactly was the scope of your second procedure? As for me, just the tip feels a bit puffy, but even that seems to be starting to subside over the last couple of days.
Elizabeth Collins5 said:Kate Taylor59, Ashley Gomez – based on what I can see from your photos, I don't really get the impression that your noses actually needed surgery, at least from an aesthetic standpoint. But then again, you're the ones who know what works best for you. As long as you're happy with the final result, that's all that matters.😉
Ashley Gomez – honestly, this is probably the most beautiful profile I've seen yet. I'm actually a little jealous, haha.
rustygardener172 said:I completely agree. Imagine if surgeons only posted photos of just noses 🙂 I used to send everyone my whole face and head... I’d just blur out the eyes. I think I was getting a bit too full of myself thinking I had such a pretty little nose... 🤣
Ashley Gomez, you have a lovely nose... it looks quite similar to my previous one, though it seems a bit more refined now 😍 Though... mine is actually a bit rounder in profile than yours is 😛
Mine looked almost exactly like yours right after I took the cast off, but then it changed completely over time...
I went to get my hair done today, and it is honestly such a relief to be able to pick out a hairstyle without worrying about how my nose looks 🙏
Kate Taylor59 said:I can't say I entirely agree... You really had a great intuition about this one, but I suppose everyone is entitled to make their own choices. 🙂
Honestly, your dad doesn't even look that bad in the photo, despite how much you've been talking behind his back about him. 😁
The new one looks pretty good; you can tell there's still some swelling, much like mine.
Rachel Fisher97 said:Honey, if you ask me, you didn't even need the surgery—you had such a lovely, straight nose... but of course, if you're feeling more satisfied now, that's really what matters most. Congratulations, and enjoy your new look! 😍
Well, that’s just how it looks when they only work on the nose itself... Mine actually looked worse from the front because it was quite narrow but had this bulbous tip. Once all the swelling goes down and everything settles, I'll post some better photos... Right now, the tip is still swollen, my entire left side is puffed up all the way down to my chin, and the right side is swollen at the bridge. I suppose they had to break some bones or sand down the tip or something...
Anyway, I'm already incredibly happy with the results, and I imagine that as the swelling subsides over time, it'll look even better. 😍
Once the swelling goes down a bit more and I finally figure out how to deal with the glare, I'll try to get some shots showing my full face from the front. This photo was taken about two weeks after the surgery.
I tend to follow that same routine, though I only use a saline spray, and honestly, I haven't really had much luck getting anything out—it just seems like the saline ends up coming right back out instead.
