Kate Taylor59 said:...but instead, I wanted to ask you all... I’m about ten days out from surgery, and my nose just won't stop running. Plus, there's this persistent little ache right where the stitches are... how are you guys handling the blowing? Could I be doing it too "hard"? I mean, I’m not squeezing my nose shut or anything... I just blow quite a bit... and honestly, my nose looks even bigger than before, probably just because the swelling hasn't gone down yet... And what about the miteser?? I have miteser all over my face from the miteser... and my eyes are stinging... probably because of my nose...
I definitely felt a stinging sensation near my stitch sites whenever I blew my nose. Now, I'm just waiting for the scabs to form so I can peel them off. What a lady, 😬 I don't use miteser, but my nose is constantly peeling and the skin feels so rough that I find myself picking at it all the time.
I actually took my new nose out for its first big debut in town today! It’s a little puffy, but I'm basically walking on clouds because of how proud I am. 😍
rustygardener172 said:I know exactly what you mean... especially that semi-profile view... it’s almost like someone shoved a spatula (that's surgeon-speak for you folks up there 🙂 ) right under the skin and just left it there. My biggest fear was that it would stay that way forever... but I eventually calmed down; he didn't touch the tip itself, so it has to settle back to how it was before the surgery... and it did. Don't stress, honey, just try to think about it logically... because of gravity, all that swelling eventually settles toward the tip... and since the whole procedure was centered around the tip, the skin just needs some time to snap back into place. I'm not near my computer to find a better photo... but I'll send you one I took 12 days after my surgery via DM. My nose looked so incredibly swollen then; I don't even think I realized quite how bad it was at the time. Personally, I feel like my nose gets more beautiful every single day!! 😍
I actually needed to reduce my tip, which is why I'm so worried about it staying the same as before. 😢
Kate Taylor59 said:I feel the same way about the nipple... but at least it looks okay in person. In photos? It’s a total disaster... I'm not sure if anyone else has had issues with their nipple after surgery, but mine just lifted up a tiny bit, and that’s about it. You can't really shrink it down...
Why isn't it possible to shrink it? 😕
rustygardener172, could you please, please send me a photo from two weeks post-op? 😁
rustygardener172 said:hahahahahaha just look at my old posts ... I was just as terrified about that chunky, "bulbous" tip myself. 😂 The good news is that it will eventually flatten out, but the bad news is that it takes quite a while. For me, it took anywhere from four to six months.
I was actually scrolling through your posts yesterday 😁 which gave me some comfort, but then I looked in the mirror and felt depressed all over again... I had so much swelling, and while everything else is smoothing out nicely now, that tip on this nose of mine still looks like a foreign object 😁 It looks the worst when I'm caught in a profile shot. 🙄
I know it needs time, but I can't help feeling anxious that this might just be how it stays.
Jeremy Barrett7 said:I realize everyone’s recovery is unique... but has anyone else noticed significant swelling after having the molds removed from their nose? Mine were taken off on Wednesday, and I am just sitting here, incredibly impatient. I find myself studying every single millimeter in the mirror. 😂 The base still feels quite swollen, and as for the tip—well, I won't even go there. It honestly looks larger than it did before the surgery. 🤣
Did yours slim down yet? I am honestly terrified that my tip is going to stay this puffy forever. 😲
goldenangler82 said:If I recall correctly, a single night at the doctor's office runs about $100? A hostel would probably be $33, which should cover all seven days..
It really depends on which surgeon you choose. If you go with Dr. Miller, an overnight stay is actually mandatory and is already included in the total cost of the surgery.
goldenangler82 said:How did you all manage getting back home after your surgery? Did someone have to drive you, or did you take a train or a bus? I'm asking because I don't live in Washington, D.C.
In my case, I actually stayed overnight at the clinic and spent a week in New York City. I would strongly advise against trying to make the trip alone; you really need a few days just to get back on your feet.
steelangler88 said:I am just going to lose it!!😠 The tip has dropped so significantly. I actually have a third procedure scheduled for some other minor issue sometime this winter, but I am honestly quite preoccupied with this frustrating tip. And then there is the width of my lower nose—it's just not right. I suppose I don't really know what the solution is; I'm probably just venting here.😢
I feel so bad for 😢
For some time now, my new nose has felt strangely familiar, and it finally clicked for me this morning. 😁 I went back to look at a photo that Princess had sent me, and there it was. 😍
Honestly, you guys, I am just feeling so incredibly happy right now 😍😍😍😍
I finally took off the shapewear, and my silhouette looks absolutely stunning 😍 though I suppose I still need to touch up the edges and the hairline... I swear, I can't stop staring at myself in the mirror 😁
Samuel Peterson5 said:Well, I suppose it’s my turn to weigh in after spending an exhausting amount of time reading through all these threads. I finally worked up the nerve to go through with it and scheduled my procedure for Wednesday, June 29th. Because of the intense anxiety I've been feeling lately, my period actually just started today—it was late by about 😢 days. I guess I'm wondering if this could potentially impact the surgery, even though it will be my third day? I honestly can't wait until tomorrow morning to call the nurses at the hospital and see what they say.
I know the second day is usually tricky because the flow is heavier, and since nosebleeds are already a concern, it might not be ideal. I'm not entirely sure if being on the third day makes things any better, but I suspect it might not change much.
I finally took the mold off today, and I have to say, this cute little button nose is starting to peek through! 🙂🙂
I realize it’s still incredibly early days and things are bound to shift and settle, but even now, just five days out from surgery, I think it looks pretty fantastic. 😍
Rachel Fisher97 said:Haha, my heart is probably going to be racing at a hundred beats per minute just thinking about laying my head down on the table. 😁
Mine was pounding somewhere between 145 and 150 beats per minute. 😲 I think if I actually had the chance, I would have just grabbed a line right off that monitor; I honestly panicked so badly.
Kate Taylor59 said:Thanks 🙂 I was wondering, did you start bleeding right after taking the tampon out?
Yeah, it’s true—there's this scent that kind of clings to you, so you end up inhaling it through your nose and exhaling it through your mouth. It wasn't really bothering me much, but I went ahead and picked up some nighttime nasal spray just in case things start feeling congested.
They didn't actually tie my hands down; I just tucked them into my pajamas 🙂 because the doctor mentioned it’s probably better than causing more trauma by physically restraining me. I kept one arm stretched out by my side so they could run the IV through it.
Kate Taylor59, don't go worrying about having the lines pulled out—it really isn't a big deal at all...
Well, I’m finally free from those nasal tampons too! 😁 Honestly, I was absolutely terrified about the extraction process, but it turned out to be nothing at all. I felt a little sting in my right nostril where the tampon had been stuck, and while I was waiting for them to pull the left one, they already had it out. 😲
I feel like I can breathe like a dragon now—I can sense every single scent! 🙏 I am just so incredibly happy... I’m taking the mold off tomorrow morning, and I honestly can't wait. 😍
Kate Taylor59, hang in there. For me, the tampons seemed to get easier to handle every day, and they didn't end up pulling mine until the fourth day.
Jeremy Barrett7, I have nostrils just like yours in that photo with the mold; I feel much better knowing yours turned out flat. Congratulations on such a beautiful nose! 😍
I’ve been dealing with this constant, nagging sensation at the tip—has anyone else ever dealt with that? And my nose and... well, everything else is just itching incessantly. I honestly can't tell if it's this specific mold or just the tampons 🙄 Honestly, the only thing that helps me unwind is hitting the shops, though I suspect my retail therapy habit might end up costing me more than the actual surgery 😁 People give me these really strange looks when I'm out, but I suppose I just couldn't care less 🙂
Regarding general anesthesia—I actually went through the whole process with Dr. Bastaic, and I have to say, I was incredibly pleased with the entire medical team. There were about five people in the OR with me during the procedure, and the nurse stayed by my side throughout the night to check on me.
As for the aftermath of the anesthesia, I just felt a bit drowsy for a few hours. I didn't deal with any throat soreness, I was able to use the restroom on my own quite easily, and I didn't experience any dizziness or nausea at all...
I just have to share some good news with you all 😍
I had my surgery yesterday, and the doctor says my nose looks absolutely perfect, like a little piece of candy 😍 I’m not in any pain at all; there’s just a tiny bit of nasal bleeding, but I’m still figuring out how to manage the nasal swabs—my husband is actually much better at it than I am 😁
The only thing is, I won't be removing the tampons until Friday 😢 though I'll be taking off the splint this Saturday.
Overall, I'm feeling quite satisfied for now, and honestly, the whole process has been much easier than I had anticipated.
