So, I was looking over some lab results... just that whole hematology side of things. It’s honestly kind of a lot to wrap your head around sometimes, you know? All those different numbers and markers floating around in your bloodwork. It can get pretty overwhelming when you're staring at a sheet full of technical jargon. I guess I'm just trying to make sense of how everything connects—like how the white cells, red cells, and platelets all play their parts in keeping us upright. It's a lot to process!

So, I was looking at my latest labs... looks like my Red Blood Cell count came back at 4.49 x10e12/L. Checking against the standard range they gave me—which was 3.86 to 5.08—it seems like everything is sitting pretty much right in the middle. I guess that’s good news? Everything looks totally normal, which is a relief, honestly.
So, I was looking over these labs and noticed my RDW is sitting at 13.6%, which is just a little bit below the normal range of 14.6% to 16.5%. Honestly, I'm not totally sure what that actually means for me right now, but I guess it's just one of those little things on the paper. Maybe it's nothing, or maybe it's worth mentioning next time I see my doctor, but I'm just trying to make sense of it all!
So, I checked my Hemoglobin levels... looks like it's sitting at 136 g/L. Honestly, looking at the normal range being between 119 and 157, I guess I’m right in the sweet spot? Seems okay to me, I suppose.
So, I was looking over the labs... looks like the Hematocrit came back at 0.404 L/L. Honestly, that's right in the sweet spot since the normal range is usually between 0.356 and 0.470. Everything seems totally fine there, I guess!

So, I was looking over the labs, and the MCHC came back at 337 g/L. Looking at the range they gave me (320 - 345), it seems like everything is sitting right where it should be. Pretty much perfectly in the middle, I guess! Everything looks totally normal there.
So, I just checked my labs... Platelets came back at 349 x10e9/L. Looking at the normal range they gave me (158 - 424), I guess everything seems totally fine? Seems like I'm right in the sweet spot, so hopefully that means nothing to worry about!
So, I was looking at my labs, and my WBC is sitting at 10.5... which is just a little bit higher than that normal range of 3.4 to 9.7, I guess. Maybe it's nothing, but yeah, it's slightly elevated.
So, I was looking over these labs... looks like the Neutrophil Gran percentage came back at 62.7%. Based on the standard range of 44 to 72, everything seems pretty much right where it should be. Nothing to worry about there, I guess!
So, I was looking over my latest labs, and my Lymphocytes came back at 27.2%... which is totally within the normal range of 20 to 46, I think? Everything seems pretty standard there, I guess.
So, I just got my latest labs back, and my MID is sitting at 10.1%. Looking at the reference range they gave me, anything between 2 and 19 is supposed to be normal... so, I guess this is totally fine? Just wanted to put that out there.
So, let's talk about metabolites and substrates... I guess it's one of those things that sounds super technical, but when you actually break it down, it's just how everything moves through the body. It’s kind of like the fuel and the stuff being burned up to keep the engine running, right? Anyway, just some thoughts on how all those little pieces fit together.

So, I just got my glucose results back... it's sitting at 6.3 mmol/L. Looking at the range they gave me, which is 4.4 to 6.4, I guess I'm technically still within the normal limits? It's definitely cutting it pretty close to the top end, though. Maybe I should keep an eye on things, but for now, I suppose it's okay.
So, I checked my creatinine levels... it's sitting at 72 umol/L. Looking at the lab range they gave me, it's supposed to be between 49 and 90, so I guess everything looks pretty normal there. Not too worried, I think!
So, I just got my labs back and my Serum Urate is sitting at 340 µmol/L... which is technically just a tiny bit over that normal range of 134 to 337. It’s probably nothing, honestly, but I guess I'll be keeping an eye on it. Just one of those things, I suppose!
So... enzymes. I guess we should probably talk about them? Honestly, they’re kind of a wild topic when you really start digging into how everything works in the body. It's like this whole invisible engine running under the hood, right? Just one thing after another keeping the gears turning. Anyway, just some food for thought!

So, I was looking over my latest labs, and my ALP came in at 51 U/L... which is just a hair under that normal range of 54 to 119. Honestly, I'm probably just overthinking it, but it's a little lower than what they usually look for. I guess we'll see if my doctor even mentions it or if it's just one of those things that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Maybe it's nothing, right?
Trace elements... I mean, there's just so much to dive into here. It’s kind of wild how much those tiny little things can mess with your whole system, right? Just a few microscopic bits and suddenly everything feels off. I guess it's one of those things where you don't really think about it until something starts acting up. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like such a rabbit hole once you start looking into it.

So, lipids... I guess we should probably talk about them? Honestly, it’s one of those things that sounds way more complicated than it actually needs to be, but it can definitely get a bit overwhelming when you start looking at all the numbers. It's basically just the fats in your system, right? But man, once you dive into the details, there's a whole lot to unpack. Just my two cents, though!

So, I just got my labs back and looks like my cholesterol is sitting at 5.8 mmol/L... which is a bit higher than that sub-5.0 target they usually look for. Just one of those things, I guess. Might need to watch the diet a little more closely or maybe hit the gym harder. We'll see.
So, I checked my labs and my HDL cholesterol came back at 1.6 mmol/L... which is actually pretty good since anything over 1.2 is considered fine. I guess I'm doing alright on that front!
So, I just got my labs back and looks like my LDL cholesterol is sitting at 3.5 mmol/L... which is a bit higher than that target under 3.0 they want us to hit. Guess I might need to watch what I'm eating a little more closely, huh? Maybe?
So, I just got my latest blood work back... looking at my triglycerides and they're sitting at 1.59 mmol/L. Honestly? Not too bad, I guess! Since the cutoff is anything under 1.7, I’m still technically in the clear. Just one of those little wins to keep me going, maybe.
Hormones... man, what a mess. Honestly, I feel like we don't talk enough about how much they can totally throw everything out of whack. It's wild how one tiny little shift in your chemistry can just turn your whole world upside down, you know? One day you're feeling fine, and the next, everything feels off. I guess it's just one of those things you have to deal with, but it can be such a rollercoaster. Just my two cents, though!

So, I just got my TSH results back... it's sitting at 1.75 mIU/l. Looking at the lab's range, which goes from 0.340 to 5.600, it seems like I'm pretty much right in the sweet spot. I guess that’s actually good news? Maybe? It feels okay so far, anyway.
Female, 44, pretty much a powerhouse... aside from the occasional sinus stuff, I'm doing alright. 😁So, right now I've got this weird menopause spotting going on... it's like just a few drops every hour or so, and honestly, it's been running a bit late too. I guess it's just one of those things, maybe? Just a little bit at a time. 🙄
So, my doctor sent me in for some blood work because I've been dealing with this annoying dry cough since mid-December. I actually went in to get my lungs checked out too, but they didn't hear any wheezing or anything through the stethoscope, which is... well, I guess that's good? But man, these headaches are killing me. Most of the time, it feels like my blood pressure is just bottoming out on me.
Thanks! 🙂
Sorry Angela Kelly11, but I honestly didn't notice anything messy over there. The pedicure area used to be in that other room—you know, the one that’s way nicer than this big space—but I always just head straight to the restroom and everything there is super clean. Plus, the sterilizer used to be right by the chair, so she'd pull the tools out of it every single time.
Anyway, I've been going there for a while now and I'm actually really happy with it 🙂
Hey there! What's up?
So, like, a few months back, I started noticing this weird thing where it was getting super tough to lift my leg up at the nail salon—you know, that specific motion where you have to swing it from the side toward the front and up? Honestly, I just kind of brushed it off at first. I figured, okay, maybe I’m just getting stiff, or maybe I'm just getting old and out of shape... I don't know, I just assumed I was losing my touch! 😁 And even if it isn't like, totally catastrophic... I mean, maybe things aren't actually that bad? I guess. It’s just hard to tell sometimes, you know? Like, everything feels a bit much, but then you look closer and maybe it's not quite the disaster everyone's making it out to be. Just my two cents, anyway.
So, like, I actually started taking jazz dance classes recently! And honestly? The dancing itself feels totally fine, I’m not having any issues there at all... but then, I don't know, during those specific stretches and movements when we're just warming up, I get this weird, nagging discomfort. It's super strange. Maybe it's just me, or maybe I'm just not warmed up enough? I guess we'll see.
Ugh, honestly, the absolute worst part is just getting into the car... like, yesterday was such a struggle. I actually had to use my hand to lift my left leg over the door sill just to get inside. It’s just the worst feeling ever.
So, I don’t know... is this just one of those things that's totally normal where I probably need to drop a few more pounds—I'm working on it, by the way, just taking it slow—or should I actually go bother my doctor about it?
Sandra Vaughn50 said:But you totally dodged the question about why a junkie isn't viewed as being any less "deserving" than some heavy smoker who ends up with lung cancer, or someone who spends their whole life eating nothing but junk food and bacon until they hit 330 lbs and develop Type II diabetes.
So, okay, let's say—just hypothetically—that a cigarette addict and a junkie are basically just addicted to their own stupidity, right? Like, they kind of engineered their own dependency through sheer bad choices.
whereas an obese person might be dealing with a primary biological drive for food that they just can't shake, something they were actually born with.
It's just that people don't seem to get the difference.
Hey everyone, I'm looking for some recommendations for a good GP around the Spanish District, Precko, or Rudes area.
Thanks! 🙂
EDIT: Does anyone actually know how the process works? I've been seeing the same doctor for 20 years now, so I'm totally out of the loop on the whole procedure.🙂 thx
So, for anyone who deals with motion sickness, here’s what actually helps
- You don't have to be starving, but like, don't go overboard with a huge meal either... just stay balanced
- Seriously, no reading, no texting, and definitely don't turn around to chat with the crew in the backseat
- Just stare straight ahead and maybe grab onto the dashboard or the seat in front of you
(Doing that last thing kind of tricks your brain into thinking you're actually stationary, so it doesn't get so confused when your body feels like you're sitting still but your eyes are seeing everything moving outside)
Hey 🙂
Right here is the auction link for this non-profit group out of Chicago
So, we actually got a 'engagement shoot' donated to us! I figured I’d post the info here, assuming the mods are cool with it.
If anyone’s looking for a killer Christmas gift for someone special, grabbing this shoot would be amazing—and honestly, helping out the charity at the same time would be just wonderful.
Thanks 🙂
