Jeremy Johnson18 said:The problem is, you used to find actually interesting stuff on LES, but now everyone’s totally checked out. Every single thread gets shut down immediately like they're terrified of someone starting a conversation.
The only thing left from the old LES days is the chat, and honestly, that’s not enough to justify keeping it at the top of the site.
Back to the point: thank God that COVID-19 Adobe file is gone. I agree, it needs to be buried deep in the archives where it belongs.
I mean, seriously, what hasn't gone downhill since the site admins started running things this way? The only thing left standing is the corner for Ble, so if we can't have LES up there, at least put the NFL section at the top.👋
Ever since this place first started up, and honestly even way before we had Reddit or the IMF hanging around, LES has always been at the top of the food chain... and that’s exactly how things should stay.
If they actually ran an experiment and threw someone like Smith, Aleta ogrozd, or even Modesty Blaze into the mix, you just know there’d be a massive protest within two weeks because everyone would be bullying them and handing out baseless suspensions. And the worst part? You couldn't even send half of those people a freaking DM to clear things up 😁
It’s honestly such a joke how they were sneaking around and shutting down the VKT thread for absolutely no reason, but now suddenly we get a whole new topic just so people can go off on one sick woman from Mexico? 😲 Fine by me, but only if you reopen VKT 😬
Alright, I’m jumping in on this question too 🙂 It feels like nobody actually knows anything, and even if they did, they aren't talking... I barely even posted ten times on that subforum, mostly just lurking because everything you'd ever need was right there on Reddit, and then suddenly—boom—I'm banned. 😕
Yeah, but see, it’s an "and," not an "or." Like, it's all or nothing—every single one of those conditions has to be met. That’s why I was grilling you about that company you dug up. Is it actually the exact same outfit from back in the day? And if it isn't, are we talking about a legitimate legal successor? You really gotta dig into that and find out for sure...
Maybe just wait for one of the upcoming updates to the Real Estate Law and try to file for amortization?
Here’s how the law stands right now: Article 162. (1) An owner of property burdened by a mortgage—or even any co-owner or joint owner—can petition the county recorder's office to start proceedings to amortize and clear the mortgage debt: – if at least 30 years have passed since the mortgage was recorded, or if there are subsequent filings related to it, then from the date of the last such filing – if it’s impossible to track down the authorized parties or their legal successors, and – if during this entire period, neither the principal nor interest has been requested or received, and no other rights related to the debt were exercised. (2) This article doesn't apply to mortgages recorded before September 1, 1980. Those specific mortgages will be cleared automatically by the state or upon a party's request.
Up until recently, the cutoff date was December 25, 1958.
Rachel Diaz8 said:So, basically, someone owes money for years, they never touch the principal, and eventually, the interest just expires under the statute of limitations. That's pretty interesting.🙂
You gotta consider that the creditor didn't lift a finger to collect what they're owed (even though they had plenty of ways to do it), which pretty much proves they aren't actually interested in getting paid.
That’s just super weird, honestly, but whatever. We really need to double-check if that company on the paperwork is actually the same entity operating today
Are you absolutely positive you guys didn't pay those back? I mean, honestly, there's probably like 99% of those old loans people carry around where the debt on their properties was settled ages ago, but folks just... they just never bother going down to the county recorder's office to file the paperwork to clear the title.
Morgan Peterson said:We could have handled this in a different thread, but fine. Look, I didn't ban anything out of nowhere—we just collectively agreed, at the mods' suggestion, to start handing out warnings for labeling huge groups of people with totally inaccurate labels, all just to keep the discussion from turning into a total circus. The thing is, not everyone who’s skeptical about the coronavirus vaccine is against all vaccines, and obviously, not everyone pro-coronavirus vaccine is pro-everything else either. There are tons of nuances in how people view the crisis and these illnesses, and as long as people are being decent about how they communicate, we can definitely keep talking.
If your issue is that you won't be able to call people "shills" or "paid trolls" without getting flagged anymore... man, let me remind you that wasn't allowed before either. Plus, now even the folks skeptical of the coronavirus vaccine got their win since they aren't being lumped in with "antivaxxers," so I honestly don't get why you're making such a big deal out of this.
I mean, personally? I’d much rather someone calls me an idiot, a moron, an antivaxxer, or even a bioterrorist, if it means I actually get to call a shill a shill. 😁
sorry Aleta if I should've just asked this in another thread, I just saw your post here and figured it wouldn't hurt 🙂. I came to you because you're the one who posted the notices on the thread, so it's clearly a group decision.
Look, I don't go around insulting people, but honestly, I really don't care what anyone writes to me. My take? You shouldn't be banning or flagging terms that are basically part of everyday American slang and mainstream talk. That's just it. This way, it feels like some journalist who's forced to maintain a certain level of decorum and objectivity has more freedom to speak their mind than the actual users on this forum, which... yeah, shouldn't be happening.
I mean, honestly, you guys have already labeled us all as crazy anyway. You've basically made it so critical thinking is only allowed in those weird conspiracy theory threads, so now anyone who doesn't blindly follow the CDC or whatever global authority they've picked this week has to hang out with people who think 5G is spying on them from every street corner? Seriously, how much longer are you gonna keep looking down on anyone who isn't just echoing the mainstream narrative?
Man, we’ve been chewing on this for a while now, but honestly, this thread on the politics sub has totally run its course. It’s basically turned into a tiny little sandbox for a handful of people—and if we actually looked at the stats on warnings and deleted posts, everyone involved could probably collect a whole stack of them. The thread has done its job, so thanks to everyone who jumped in.
Look, we have the entire Coronavirus section where you guys can move over there. If you want to talk about the political fallout or how the national task force measures are hitting US politics, we’ve got the thread on the Government of the US and the President
Thanks again for participating.
So, basically, you decided to shut down the one oasis of free thought, uncensored debate, and actual logic, just to shove us all into some censored, echo-chamber sub-forum where they delete, ban, and bully anyone who doesn't follow the government/task force narrative. Since you haven't been around this site since yesterday, you clearly know exactly how this works and how familiar this pattern is to you.
And you also know that coronavirus has nothing to do with health anymore (not since the first/last person could get vaccinated without a massive announcement), and that this is purely about politics. You also know the server doesn't give a damn whether our posts are in this thread or that one; the load is the same. And let's be real, Reddit has random chat threads in every single sub that put more strain on the servers than this corona thread ever did, so why pick on us? This thread was under Politics from day one, even when it had zero connection to politics, and now every single day it becomes more relevant. At the very least, as long as there's a task force deciding our fates—and those people are politicians—this thread belongs right here.
Thanks for sending us to our "deaths," I guess. What else can I say? 😢.
Wait, hold up—so because Eric Adams is your favorite (based on your poll vote), anyone who doesn't vibe with him is just a troll to you? Look, I’ve been hanging out on this Forum for over 20 years. I was here back when we were still calling it IMF and before we transitioned to Teme.org, but stuff like this? This has never happened 😢.
Do you seriously think mentioning "the crew from FFZG" is some kind of slur or something? You’re out here hunting for lists of washed-up actors in other threads, so why shouldn't people point out the Republican Party crooks if they’re calling out Republican thieves? Just look at the ballot, find the actors, and there you go. What exactly is their ability to run a massive metropolis like New York City even based on?
If we can call the Republicans "sandwich makers," then why is using "Moševski sandwich makers" off-limits for you? Let's just apply the same rules to everyone; that’s the whole point of this Forum. If someone calls me a moron or an idiot, hey, I don't care, but I get that it breaks the rules. On the flip side, these are public figures and we need the freedom to comment on them. If they’re parasites on the budget, living in city-owned apartments, fighting for things we already have plenty of in America, or just (failed) actors and people with zero work experience outside of NGOs... well, you gotta be able to say that. That's the entire foundation of this Forum.
I don't agree with almost anything Željko Markić says, but if we're allowed to trash her, we should be allowed to bash Eric Adams too. It's the exact same story we saw 5 or 6 years ago with "saintly" Božo Petrov. Anyone (myself included) who wrote anything against him back then got mocked and insulted by his fanboys, who eventually just vanished from the forum one by one or changed their nicknames and opinions.
Again, please, just have some common sense. I know he's your guy and your favorite, but you’ve gotta be unbiased as a moderator. I can only sincerely hope that you end up being right and I end up being wrong about this. Remind me in a year to apologize to you and your supporters for everything I wrote if it turns out I was just being a fool and totally missed the mark.
Honestly, let them sell themselves out with those kinds of ads. I haven't bought a single box of Barilla pasta since I found out they donated to that political rally, and I don't plan on ever touching their stuff again. 😁
Shutting it down = empty buildings, mass layoffs, and actually fixing things right for once Merging them = just swapping out the seals and changing the signs on the front door
Edward Fisher86 said:Look, if you’re having trouble getting your digital credentials sorted on the e-government portal, just tell them you're heading to Mass instead.
Here we go again, making a massive deal out of nothing regarding churches 🤦. Yeah, sure, he got his "permission to attend mass," but he might as well have said he was going to meet a mistress or grabbing BBQ with our legendary Reddit grill master... honestly, it's pretty obvious the people issuing these passes aren't even reading the requests, they're just rubber-stamping everything. I saw the exact same thing a few days ago when I was trying to get one sorted for my dad.
So, they basically made this call last week to "legalize" merging the headquarters, because honestly, before this, those command centers could just team up whenever they felt like it as long as "residency" was clearly defined. But now? They’ve gone ahead and tweaked the rules just to fit their own agenda, and suddenly everything is "totally fine."
Sam Green73 said:Look, it doesn't have to be an "all or nothing" situation where you just let things get overcrowded. You can simply cap the number of passengers allowed on a vehicle at one time.
It’s the exact same logic we use for capacity limits in retail stores here in the States.
There are really only two ways to play this: 1. Adding more vehicles—but honestly, that’s a pipe dream because we don't have the fleet, and we definitely don't have the drivers available. 2. Limiting passenger counts—which also feels totally unfair. Why would anyone deal with the headache of driving their own car, paying for gas, and hunting for parking when everyone else gets a free or dirt-cheap ride?
So, yeah, it's just not realistic or doable. I have no clue why Mayo Clinic even thought that was a good move before they lifted the travel bans, especially since those bans were barely being enforced anyway (and they couldn't be better enforced if we wanted them to, since we're spread too thin and shouldn't be wasting our field teams on that). They need to scrap that nonsense measure and get those crews back to checking on people in quarantine or those who actually tested positive. Once word gets out that some neighbor or local buddy caught the virus because they skipped their isolation, then people will actually start following the rules.
