or even just a cheaper HD4830, which is actually pretty affordable
The HD4870 is basically on par with the GTX 260..

The HD3870 x 2 is ancient tech at this point. It's just not worth it when there are so many cheaper, more efficient cards out there now...

The HD3870 isn't worth the money either. You can grab an 8800GT at Best Buy for $267 instead.

There are a few rules you need to follow:
  • Do you need an AGP or PCI-E card?
  • What’s your current or planned setup, and what PSU are you running?
  • What resolution are you gaming at?
  • What's your budget?
  • Which retailers are you looking at?
  • List any other specific requirements here.

tiki's list, but it’s unavailable

Silicon Valley really should add an option to hide unavailable hardware... (especially those Microsoft spots)

- PCI-E
- for AutoCAD and gaming
- budget: up to $500
- resolution: 1440x900
- motherboard: ASRock 775i91SPL-SATA 2
- processor: Intel Pentium 4 630
- socket: Socket 775LGA
- clock speed: 2997.0 MHz
- memory: 2048 MB
- PSU: 350W
- preferably Intel (it's what's closest to me)

HD2600PRO plus Quadro drivers if the priority is AutoCAD (roughly $133)
(though gaming performance will take a hit)
Otherwise, put the rest of the cash toward a new CPU, motherboard, and PSU (like an MA770-DS3 + Intel Core i7 + 2GB RAM, maybe around $367

HD3650 for $110 at Intel... nothing else is in stock... and with the 4350, don't expect any actual gaming
PCI-E NVIDIA GTX 760 is basically an 8500GT (new $73)
The 7600GT? Slightly weaker than the 8600GT (new $110)

So, no. (Assuming we're talking PCIe)
It's great for basic tasks... you're basically running on FireGL here.
But you're going to take a massive hit in gaming performance.
For that kind of money, you aren't going to find anything better..

clocks the memory at roughly 800MHz..
why it’s actually worth shelling out a few extra bucks for the 4670
regarding $183 Hd4670 at IBM
It’s not going to get any better at all..

The graphics will improve once you actually upgrade... but with your current setup, you're basically running drivers from 2004.
It’s not bad, but you're stuck with AGP... I don't think there's a motherboard out there that supports both a socket and PCIe at the same time.
If you swap out the motherboard, you're looking at needing a new CPU and RAM too. You'll probably need a new GPU and power supply as well...

Maybe just sell the whole lot and in about $367 grab a setup with a CPU, a motherboard featuring integrated HD 3200, and 2GB of RAM.

Not all processors perform the same way... mine won't push past 3.4GHz... (the e4500 does too)

you don't even need to touch the memory voltage

iiiii

1.4V is overkill...

I'm running mine at 11 x 273 / 3GHz/ with 1.35V... what kind of RAM are you using and what's your clock speed?

Are you positive you're running the latest version?

Maybe it's just the max Front Side Bus on the motherboard?
