John Martinez72 said:I’m not entirely sure who handles the moderation over in the women's corner, but honestly, I think they do a fantastic job. From what I can tell, they usually give new members a heads-up if they break a rule instead of just jumping straight to a ban, though they definitely hand out warnings when someone keeps doing the same thing.

Also, the way they separate their own threads—at least from everything I've seen so far—is really well managed.

Maybe we should consider bringing one of them on board if they decide to post here.🤷
But then again, Freyy could do it too, if she’s actually up for it.

The women's corner was, at least during my brief stints there, easily the most toxic subforum on this entire site.
Maria Barnes said:That’s exactly what happened. So what’s the issue?

The real issue is that nobody bothered to moderate anything until everyone started losing their minds and making a scene.
Maria Barnes said:I asked what you'd do about problematic content, not how you'd handle punishments (those are secondary). You don't need to be an expert on moderation protocols or interface design to answer that. When faced with a direct test—a real scenario—your answer is "I don't know." If you're going to offer advice or criticism, you actually have to know something. 🙂Disclaimers and distancing statements aren't necessary if the rules of the Reddit community already cover it.

Byron said he'd delete everything. Hazen (who is already an advisor, by the way) has also weighed in.

Maybe we should start by focusing on the fact that the people currently holding moderator positions actually need to respect the rules of the subreddit and moderate according to them.

If she actually wants to step up and be a moderator, you can count my vote as well.

I’ve got this persistent feeling that I’m just not from around here, and honestly, I really want to believe there's life out there among the stars. Plus, 7 is just the perfect number.
My avatar choice is purely because I find rainbows beautiful, like any other natural phenomenon. And no, before anyone asks, it has absolutely nothing to do with being LGBT+.

I'm kidding. I'm not easily bought.

The offer is still on the table. Who knows? Maybe I'll change my mind.

Daniel Kelly57 for moderator.

We’re all Daniel Kelly57. Cheers! 🍻

As far as I'm concerned, I don't care. But honestly? I’m pretty sure they aren't going to get any support from upper management. I have a bad feeling about this. It seems like those at the top just don't have much love lost for us folks who only hold a partial stake.
Daniel Kelly57 said:Dammit. I’m just not feeling this right now. I'm gonna be brief. Today's topic of the day is basically how people claim they want help, but they don't actually need anything when it comes to moderation, so let's just chat about it casually—though I'm sure someone will inevitably catch an attitude over some moderator suggestion.
Have you decided if Toxic should get a shot? ☕

Dealing with that kind of addiction is honestly one of the hardest battles anyone can face.

That said, if someone is living with schizophrenia and staying consistent with their prescribed medication, they really shouldn't be mixing those two things—mixing antipsychotics with alcohol is a dangerous game.

I'll be the first to admit, though, that I don't always follow that rule perfectly myself...🤦

They *shouldn't*, sure, but honestly? From everyone I know struggling with this, they're more likely to mix the booze with their pills than they are to actually stay away from the bottle.
ruggedcobra12 said:Totally agree. It feels like the author just has a grudge against Gamer Girls.
Look, I definitely have some stereotypes about women playing video games—just like anyone else does—but nothing like what these questions are implying.
I’d love to jump in and help with actual scientific research, but this doesn't feel scientific; it feels discriminatory.

And let's look at the title: “stereotype about women playing video games”. What you're pointing out isn't even a set of survey questions; it's just a list of stereotypes. By taking a SurveyMonkey, you aren't answering research prompts—you're just being asked to agree or disagree with those exact tropes.

Harold Anderson3 said:That's just the reality of it. Honestly, plenty of "healthy" people have caused just as much damage to others, if not significantly more than "us." That's life, I suppose. You just have to bury whatever happened in the past, no matter how messy it was, and try to move forward.

My older sister hasn't been officially diagnosed, but she’s got narcissism and a few other personality disorders going on. She basically spends her time tearing down everyone in her orbit, especially her own kids.

Well, looks like you finally hit your target then.
Honestly, those aren't even questions. They’re just statements where you decide how much you agree or disagree.

Why my relationships always fail in Psychology & Therapy ·
silvercobra122 said:There certainly are. Many men desire to be the dominant partner, provided they understand how to carry that role. On the flip side, they also need to know when to step back and follow, which I suspect some can manage quite naturally.

In my house growing up, my mom was definitely the one calling the shots, and honestly, my dad was perfectly fine with that dynamic.

silvercobra122 said:I see your point, but I was actually thinking about authority within relationships and personal connections... not just in a professional setting.
It seems to me that many people have a deep desire to exert control over others.
I can handle it when someone offers advice or something similar, but this need for dominance is something I just can't wrap my head around.

Alright, when it comes to romantic partnerships, it really just boils down to what those two people agree on. Personally, I’ve always leaned toward an equal partnership, but let's be real: some dynamics work perfectly fine even when one person takes the lead.

silvercobra122 said:I experience this quite frequently. It isn't necessarily about specific names or authors, but rather regarding buildings and structural things.
It is also difficult for me to identify topics that would serve our collective interest when it comes to building something together.
I suspect this happens because I often end up feeling inferior to others. Consequently, I feel pressured to act exactly how they want. There have been several instances where I tried to hold my ground, only to be labeled as argumentative or pushy, even though I usually just encounter people who are determined to force their own views on everyone else.

Perhaps that is why the author chooses to escape reality in such a manner?

Everyone claims she needs to respect authority, but I find myself wondering who came up with that rule and how?
How exactly should one respect authority? Where does that boundary begin, and more importantly, where does it end?

I have a pretty simple philosophy when it comes to this: if someone earned their seat at the table through actual expertise and hard work, then yeah, sure, I’ll give them the respect they deserve. But if these so-called "authorities" only hold power because they climbed some corporate ladder or landed a title without actually knowing what they're doing, I’m going to make it my mission to ignore them.
Respect should be earned, not just handed out because of a job title.

Carol Barrett2 said:Honestly, you’ve got nothing to lose. My plan? I just landed a win here, so now I'm thinking about reapplying this coming April to bump up to Category I status. They tagged me as Category II almost two years ago, but the second medical board—and the doctor on it, specifically—told me I actually qualify for Category I, which would stop them from docking my disability benefits.

Anyway, moving on to a different tangent—I decided to tweak my meds without asking anyone first. I was taking one pill, half a tablet twice a day. Now, I’m just taking one full tablet once a day. The original deal was supposed to be half a pill twice a day or maybe one or two whole ones depending on how I felt.

I also cut back on the Diazepam—down from 5 mg to just a half pill. Some days I’ll take the whole thing, other days just a half, kind of playing it by ear.

I’ll probably sleep less, though I'm still sleeping quite a bit.

Carol Barrett2, I think you might be dealing with a different set of laws and regulations since you're in a different state.
