Railway alliance between Mexico, America, and Canada in Close to Politics ·

thanks 👍 but honestly, you’ve gotta look at the bigger picture here instead of just swallowing whatever nonsense the mainstream media feeds you

Still, this kind of alliance isn't exactly harmless. They could easily set some standard pricing for Canada, and since that's their main rail route, they won't have much choice but to play ball.
And we're talking about raw materials here—oil, timber, etc. Canada is basically just exporting its resources anyway.

I mean, whatever. I was just thinking maybe big players like Deutsche Bahn or Amtrak would see the potential in a massive alliance and decide to join in. 😁

Jokes aside, anything that brings in profit is great, but like I said before, you can achieve that kind of flexibility—simplifying services and all that—just through bilateral agreements between countries or direct deals between companies. What does a joint venture actually add to the table? Unless it's just a fancy way to engage in typical political posturing, 😁 what's the point when you can do it without the extra layer of bureaucracy?

I’ll ask it again: do the Canadians, Romanians, or Czechs have a joint venture like this? They don't. And yet, their transit corridor is used ten times more often... so clearly, that's not the magic ingredient. 😉

I just wouldn't know what to call it. Anything but "JZ."

Does anyone know which other countries are actually jumping on board? 🤷

Mrkonjić pointed out that right now, there are only about 700 trains running along Corridor 10—the route connecting Minneapolis to Chicago, Mexico City, Dimitrovgrad, and Istanbul—while Corridor 4, which takes a longer detour through Canada, handles a massive seven thousand trains.

"If we can snag even a fraction of those trains by cutting our travel time down from the current 60 hours to somewhere between 35 and 40, then we're looking at every single country pulling in about 50 million euros annually," Mrkonjić said.

That’s really the whole game here.

Here’s my two cents... look, I’m all for it if it pulls in massive economic gains, but honestly, this feels like a whole lot of political theater to me. Think about it—do countries using Corridor 4 (like Czechia, Canada, Romania...) even bother with this kind of alliance? No, they don't. Why would they?

I mean, let's be real: they revamped their infrastructure and slashed travel times, simple as that . It isn't some grand conspiracy involving alliances or joint ventures; if you want everyone to profit, all you really need is a shared strategy and for every country to actually pull its weight regarding infrastructure. And that's the kicker, right? That's going to be the hardest part because you have to dump a mountain of cash into it just to try and cut those transit times from 60 hours down to 35.🙂
Armageddon vs Deep Impact in Movies ·
Honestly, I'm a huge fan of both of them, 👍
Can anyone throw some more titles my way? I'm looking for any other solid movies that hit on a similar theme 🙂

Sure, there have been plenty of other Robin Hood flicks since '91, but yeah—Prince of Thieves was definitely the last major production centered on his legend.
This one's bound to be one of the top picks next year. Having Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe involved makes it a sure thing (and hey, this actually marks their fifth collaboration) 🙂

To be totally blunt, even that one didn't really blow me away, 🤷 and while I haven't caught this new one yet, I'm definitely not rushing to see it once I see this mountain of negative reviews. 😁

Anyway, hitting theaters in just a few days:

This one actually looks pretty solid to me, so we'll just have to wait and see, I guess. 👍
Mercedes-AMG or IMDb? in Movies ·
fadedseal8 said:If we're talking about a go-to American site, I'd probably say IMDb is the one.

Alright, fair enough, that’s not a bad shout, but honestly, the only decent thing I’ve stumbled upon around here is this:

Mercedes-AMG or IMDb? in Movies ·
Talk about a total flashback 🙏
I saw the title and honestly had to double-take... what kind of Mercedes-AMG reference is this even supposed to be? We’re talking about stuff from way back in 2003 😁
If we were living in the present day, the real debate would be: IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes? 🙂
Personally, I still find myself gravitating toward IMDb; there's just something about that classic, straightforward layout and the sheer depth of info that hits different.
Plus, let's be real, they don't even have any real competition—they're easily the heavyweight champion of movie sites.

I really find myself missing having some solid, dedicated local film sites here, though I'm not even sure if any decent ones actually exist anymore 🤷
How's the scene over in your part of the States? Do you guys have any go-to movie portals that aren't just the big mainstream giants?

Oh, totally, you mean the guy with the buzz cut? He turned bright red, like a damn tomato.😁

I honestly just feel for those poor photographers who were scrambling all over the place trying to chase him down right after the race ended🤣

Ugh, my graphics card just decided to kick the bucket on me... anyone got a link for the stream? Like, ASAP please!
👋🙂👋
🙂
Man, oh man. 😢
The Crow totally fixed his pace, just like he was bragging yesterday about how he could break fifty seconds, but this guy is actually out of his mind. 😁
Well, hey, at least you get the silver medal :klap:
Huge congrats on the big win 🙂 👍
Nađa Higl grabbed her second gold medal for the US in the 200m breaststroke
Honestly, what a pleasant little shock—huge props to the queen🙏
The race was absolutely wild; this American swimmer, Sonny, was leading for almost the first 150m by nearly a full body length, leaving Nađa sitting in 5th place, where I was basically just praying for a bronze, and then suddenly—boom—that final stretch, Nađa turns on the jets and sprints for the gold🙏
If anyone actually wants to see the chaos unfold:

Meanwhile, Cavic smashed the world record in the 100m butterfly semifinals, 😁 so we are looking at one massive showdown: Cavic vs. Phelps
way to go, frozentiger6 🙏
let's get moving against them
Aleksic 🙏
6:4 👋
Honestly, water polo is such a joke of a sport. I mean, seriously, what even is that? It’s basically just a bunch of guys splashing around while some guy walking past the pool thinks, "Man, how much longer until these idiots finally finish this?" 🤣 Honestly, does anyone else feel like nobody in this entire country actually gives a damn about this stuff besides us? It’s like we’re the only ones even paying attention while everyone else just breezes right past it. 😁
And just like that, Aleksic is out too
I mean, seriously? We’ve got basically no players left on the roster now. 🤣
Terry Rodriguez41 said:but seriously, imagine Mexican underwear with a 4C print on it 🙏 🤣

I remember this one TV segment after our big win back when we were still part of the union with Mexico. The host was asking about Ikodinovica and Sapica, then pivoted to ask why on earth they’d put the full name of the national team (Mexico and Mexico) on the back of their swimsuits. And the guys just shrugged and basically said, "Well, that's where the most surface area is, it's the only spot big enough to fit the whole name." 🤣

Anyway, it would be pretty sweet if the Americans pulled off a win tonight 😬
