I ran a cleanup using that program from the link. Here’s what it says... But honestly? The speed hasn't changed one bit. 🙂 First we're talking about desktop icons, then suddenly we've jumped over to internet speeds. Really? Just like that?

Fix desktop Icons Position in IT Support · Feb 13, 2016

I followed the steps from that video above. Everything seemed fine at first, but now my internet is acting up. Is there a connection between the two? My Ping 13 MS, my download 0.76, and the upload won't even finish. What am I supposed to do here? Before this, I was getting a download 31.99. Just to be clear, every other device in the house is working perfectly fine. 🙂

One more thing—I tested it on my phone, and it pulled 30 MB in just a few seconds. That was fast. Does that mean the issue is with my connection, or is it an AT&T problem, or maybe just my laptop? (The specific network I'm struggling with is the one where I ran the process mentioned above)

Thanks for the tips. I’m going to give this a shot and let you know how it goes. You're sure this isn't some kind of virus or something? It's definitely not malware—I run a scanner for that stuff and everything came up clean—but who knows, maybe there's something lurking... Anyway, I'll try it out and get back to you. Thanks!

Hey there.

I'm running Windows 10. Here's the deal: every single time I boot up my laptop, my desktop icons are a complete mess, scattered all over the place. At first, I figured it was because I don't just use the laptop screen—I have an external monitor plugged in constantly. It stays connected 24/7, no exceptions. But even so, every time the system restarts, the icons are thrown everywhere without any logic. If it were just a resolution or screen size issue, they'd at least stay grouped together, right? Instead, they're just totally disorganized.

Is this some kind of malware causing the headache? What should I do to fix this?

I need some advice. I was browsing the Accenture website and saw this deal: Dell Inspiron 15 listed for $567. I’m looking to pick up a laptop for someone who isn't exactly tech-savvy—we're talking basic web browsing and YouTube at most.

Any thoughts? Is this actually worth grabbing, or am I just buying outdated junk?

Does anyone actually know the name of the default Internet Explorer font? I'm pretty sure it's an actual font choice and not just some weird shadow effect applied to the letters. I'm using Chrome right now and the font looks hideous compared to it 🤣 Or if anyone has any other advice...

@Larry Ortiz5, you got a link or some advice on how to fix this? My internet is basically dead at this point. It finds all the WiFi networks just fine, but once I connect, it just says "limited connectivity." And it’s not just one network—it's every single WiFi, my mobile hotspot, everything. Just total garbage.

So, I just finished a clean install of Windows 10 yesterday. I went ahead and wiped everything off my D drive and cleared out the Windows.old folder too. Now, I’m running into what looks like a driver issue. Every time I try to set up a hotspot using this specific app, it just gives me an error: "fail to Start Your WiFi Hotspot 1002. Computer's Wirless card Does not Support WiFi Hotspot Creat". I tried using DriveThelifa to "fix" the network driver—specifically the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller. The software claims it fixed it every single time, but when I run the scan again, I'm right back where I started with the same error message. It’s ridiculous. The driver tool tells me it reinstalled the driver, then immediately turns around and says it still needs fixing. Anyone have a real solution or some actual advice? My internet connection is working fine via a USB stick and WiFi, so it's clearly just this one issue.

Look, I don't get why everyone is complaining about reaching customer service. It’s honestly not that big of a deal. Every time I call, I actually get through to someone. I’m usually waiting maybe five minutes tops. I have no idea how you guys are sitting on hold for so long...

The biggest headache is just getting through to them in the first place. You have to navigate this endless maze of button presses just to stand a chance at actually talking to a real person.

A video over at CNET recently broke down how long it takes to reach customer service around 2 PM, and then again at 2 AM. AT&T falls somewhere right in the middle of the pack.

But if I recall correctly, the magic code is 2 2 0, and then you just sit there waiting to hear your favorite 🙂
