Look, I’m no tech genius, but here’s what I’d do: try setting up a mobile hotspot on your phone and see if your laptop picks up that signal. If everything runs smoothly on the hotspot, then you know for a fact the issue lies with Comcast. I’ve run into this before where my connection from The New York Times works perfectly everywhere else, but suddenly decides to flake out on my laptop for no reason. I can't recall the exact fix right now, but I remember it used to work fine on my old gear while refusing to connect to any new devices.
Here’s the deal: I wiped all the apps off my phone and did a fresh reinstall. It used to be that whenever I opened the 'Television' sub, all the top threads were pinned right at the top where they belonged. Now, for some reason, they’re gone. They aren't showing up in the main list at all—just the random, non-top threads. Is there some setting I can toggle to get those top posts back where they were?
Personally, I stick to two different extensions for grabbing videos online. So far, the only headache I've run into is when they refuse to work on YouTube or PBS. It’s hit or miss—one day one works, the next day it's the other, and everything runs smooth. Give them a shot! Here are the links: Flash video Downloader and video DownloadHelper.
I picked up a device over in the States and haven't had a single issue. My only advice? Don't go lugging around all the extra boxes and catalogs. Just stick to the gear and the power cord, and you're good to go. 😉
I’m looking for the exact same thing you are. I’m just hoping someone drops a solid recommendation here—and if you already pulled the trigger on a purchase, please post the link! To be honest, I don't fully get what you mean by "desirable" other than the warranty aspect, but if you say it's good, I'll take your word for it. 😬
A 15.6'' screen is perfectly fine for me, so come on, people, help me out here! 🙂
Hold on, why even bother with a subscription? If you just want to hear a specific song, just hit play and move on. Besides, you can basically play around with the app since they’re always throwing out a few months of free trials anyway. 😉
Just think about it. It feels like $17 for what you actually get. There isn't any exclusive content on there that you couldn't find somewhere else easily...
I honestly have no idea what went wrong. Maybe your battery died mid-process, or you’re dealing with a faulty cable? My guess is the update just didn't finish properly. Someone might be able to walk you through it, but if you can't fix it yourself, you're stuck. Just a heads up: you can't exactly DIY an iPhone repair if it's still under warranty. If you picked it up at The New York Times, just take it back to them; usually, you'll have a replacement device in your hands within two weeks. 😉
I tried grabbing Shrek 3 from that site. I didn't run into any issues since it isn't some weird live stream; it's just a standard video, much like what you'd see on YouTube. I managed to pull the movie down using the Flash Video Downloader extension on Google Chrome. Give 🙂 a shot.
I haven't downloaded nearly as much music since the Jim Wire days. Honestly, I just don't have the patience to sit here copying and pasting links one by one. Is there a better way to do this? Somewhere I can just grab a solid 200-300 MB chunk of music all at once? I'm mostly looking for local indie stuff and maybe some hits from our neighbors, though a mix of international tracks wouldn't hurt either. It’s usually easier to find big batches of foreign music in a single zip file, but where am I supposed to find "our" music? Or better yet, what's the easiest way to just download a huge pile of it?
Problem solved! Thanks everyone for the help. Unknown helped me out by running a full scan with Norton, and that did the trick. As far as I'm concerned, this thread can be closed. 😁
Sure, there’s plenty of free stuff out there, but the issue is my 30-day trial already expired because I had other programs running in the background.
EDIT: Alright, I managed to get it off my system using this link to Google's site! But I'm positive the virus is still lurking on my computer somewhere. How do I wipe it out for good?
I've got a virus. Every time I use Chrome, my search engine gets hijacked from Google.com to either Bing or DuckDuckGo.
I tried following the guide over at Malwarebytes, but I'm stuck. I managed to get through step two, but nothing else. There’s nothing to uninstall for the first step, and I can't even finish step three because my trial version expired.
What am I supposed to do to kill this annoying thing? Or whatever it is. It's driving me crazy. Help me out!
Generally, people have good experiences, though there are critics who claim the quality is subpar and might damage your printer. Personally, I always use third-party refills and I've never had a single issue with my Epson, Canon, or HP machines...
In my opinion, Orink is one of the more reliable brands, and they're cheaper too. You can find them in almost any office supply store, even at places like Metro or Walmart. However, you won't always see them in dedicated computer shops that sell printers and OEM ink, because manufacturers often make that a condition of doing business...
By the way, price gaps can be huge, but sometimes it's just because the tanks have different capacities, making one more expensive than the other. And yeah, pricing errors happen... it's possible.
Thanks for the info. I might give it a shot; I don't have much to lose since the replacement ink is so cheap. When you look at the cost for $30 x 4 colors, it really adds up fast.
Where should I buy this stuff, and what’s the actual damage to my wallet? Since we're talking ink...😬
Like this one versus /0/']that one? Is there really a difference if one is $4 cheaper than the other? What kind of junk are we actually dealing with when it comes to these third-party replacements?
I actually did it! I cleared out those ink clogs and got rid of all those old air bubbles. At first, I ran a Nozzle Check and everything looked fine, but I decided to run a Deep Cleaning anyway, and that was the magic move. It’s printing like a dream again, so thanks for the help, guys. Only issue is, since I ran that one single Deep Cleaning, my black ink—which was totally full right after I bought it at Walmart—is already showing an error saying it's empty. Where the hell did all that black ink go? $30 Just vanished into thin air. When I shake the cartridge, it feels like there’s plenty of ink left, but the machine keeps insisting I need a replacement. Just great.
I’ve got an Epson printer at home, but I’ve hit a wall. Out of nowhere, these lines started showing up right through my photos and text. It looks like the colors are just dropping out or fading mid-print. How do I fix this?
I already tried running a Head Cleaning from my computer, but it didn't do a damn thing. I even tried selecting those little pattern squares—you know, the ones that show you how bad the print quality is—but still nothing. What am I supposed to do now?
The ink is brand new and full, and the printer isn't even that old, maybe 3 or 4 years max. Do I need to run some specific cleaning cycle on the computer, scrub something physically inside the machine, or did the settings just get totally trashed?
goldenviper13 said:Back to the same question again: is the speed higher over Ethernet? If it is, then we know the issue isn't with the computer itself.
Forgive me, I totally missed that part of the question. My wired speeds are absolutely fantastic. The max should be 30/5, but I'm actually getting 31/5.5. I ran a speed test right next to the modem on Wi-Fi and hit 30. But in my room, where my laptop has been sitting in the exact same spot for two years, it suddenly won't go above 18 Mbit/s. It used to hit 30. Clearly, the issue is either the modem or the laptop, even though the signal strength is showing full bars.
I think I might (and probably will) have to move this inquiry to a different thread.
goldenviper13 said:Try plugging the computer directly into the router if you haven't already. It’s possible the Wi-Fi channels are acting up—your ISP should probably be the one explaining that part to you. I dealt with something similar at home with Xfinity where my Wi-Fi speeds would tank from 20 Mbps down to 2 Mbps until I finally switched over to an Ethernet cable.
I changed the broadcast channel and the speed jumped to 20 Mbit/s, but my phone is still reading 31 Mbit/s even though the max is supposed to be 30 Mbit/s. It's pretty obvious there's some kind of malware or something on the laptop. 😠 What programs should I run to clean this out? Or how do I undo those icon settings I messed with? 🤣

You can find that under Windows update settings, then advanced, and finally choose how updates are delivered. Also, it’s probably worth making sure all your network drivers are fully updated in the Device Manager.
Out of nowhere this morning, I hit a download 9. I turned off Windows update (all my drivers are current), and suddenly I'm seeing a download 15. My max is supposed to be 30, and when I test via my phone, I get 31. Why the sudden change? I'm stumped.
