Calcium and Omega-3s: Any thoughts? in Health ·
If you aren’t taking an Omega-3 supplement, you are almost certainly running a massive deficit. The standard American diet is absolutely loaded with way too much Omega-6, which throws everything out of balance.
I’d strongly suggest adding a few capsules to your daily routine and making sure you're eating fatty fish—think salmon or mackerel—regularly.
Honestly, just do a quick Google search on the subject; you'll quickly see that every major medical expert agrees on how vital they are for pretty much everything, from your skin and hair to your mood and heart health.

Regarding calcium, please don't just start popping supplements blindly. Go get some blood work done at a lab first. It is entirely possible you have a deficiency if you aren't consuming dairy, or worse, you could be dealing with osteopenia or osteoporosis without even realizing it.
Get it checked out.

Where can I get my hands on that book?

Please, give me all the details—don't hold back! I am dying to know more because I’ve ended up at the exact same conclusion after years of being absolutely tormented by endless cycles of expensive creams, overpriced dermatological treatments, and whatnot.

It wasn't until I completely overhauled my diet that my skin finally stopped acting up, but the second I touch any of the foods you mentioned, a breakout pops up immediately.😠

Beyond what the doctor already mentioned—that rushing through a large meal is a bad move—you really ought to avoid drinking anything about thirty minutes before you eat and an hour after you're finished. If you flood your system with liquids right then, you end up diluting those essential digestive enzymes, which makes the whole process much harder on your gut.
It’s highly likely that your liquid intake is exactly what's triggering these issues for you.

Furthermore, you have to be smart about how you layer your food to make digestion smoother. My own rule of thumb is to tackle the easy stuff first—think fruits or veggies—and save the heavier proteins, especially red meat which takes forever to break down, for last.

Morgan Williams4 said:Up until now, my diet has mostly consisted of tons of milk and fruit yogurts along with, say, half a loaf of bread turned into a sandwich spread out over the whole day. And naturally, plenty of water—depending on whether it’s sunny or cloudy outside. Oh, and the occasional Gatorade too!

First off—milk spikes your insulin levels, and when your insulin is elevated, lipolysis (fat burning) essentially grinds to a halt.
So, bottom line: stop drinking milk!

Furthermore, those fruit yogurts you're grabbing? They are absolute sugar bombs. If you absolutely insist on having yogurt, stick to acidophilus, kefir, or Greek yogurt (and maybe toss in some fresh berries)

And as for that "half a loaf of bread" sandwich (with what, exactly???) serving as your sustenance for an entire day—that is hardly a balanced way to eat.
You'd be much better off grabbing some rye toast with chicken and a side salad, but more importantly, you need to be eating multiple properly timed meals throughout the day.

Nicole Nelson73 said:If I had actually come here just to plug my own clinic, I wouldn't be out here asking for advice on some other—maybe cheaper—practice... I've seen this woman a few times and honestly, she’s perfectly fine. I won't go so far as to say she's amazing, but she isn't terrible either. I have no idea why you're coming at me like this. Maybe try attacking everyone who happens to have a doctor they actually like instead?

Look, my bad 😘 , but it happens way too often around here where someone shows up acting like a newbie looking for a recommendation, only to turn around in the very next post and start praising their own business.
It’s just pathetic... if you want to advertise, just pay for the ad space or at least have the decency to admit you're promoting yourself.

It honestly looks like Andrew Robinson64 only showed up here to run a glorified advertisement for her own medical clinic.
It’s just pathetic. 👎

Angela Allen82 said:Fair point... So, what kind of proteins would actually work if you're looking for a meal replacement?

You’d want to look at milk-egg blends or casein-based options—things like Inkospor Muscle Gainer or optimum Pro90.

Otherwise, if you aren't looking to drop extra cash on specialized blends, just take some standard whey and mix it with lean meats, flaxseed, or even some oats. Basically, you need to pair it with something that's going to slow down the absorption rate.

Angela Allen82 said:Does anyone actually have experience using Herbalife proteins? I was browsing that fitness forum and noticed people are really tearing into their soy-based proteins, but honestly, I’ve always felt like it wouldn't affect me all that much since I'm a woman 🙂.
My aerobics instructor mentioned they were actually quite good because, you know, they act as a complete and relatively balanced meal replacement. I was thinking about using them to replace dinner—since I always train late at night, I can barely find the strength to stay awake for an hour after my HIIT session just to eat something light and healthy
. I am seriously open to any advice here because, look, I’m in the middle of moving and I really don't have extra cash to throw away 😬.
Plus, I need to restock my supplements anyway 😉

If you were reading that forum, you probably noticed the price tag on those proteins. Seriously, for the cost of 250g of Herbalife, you could grab 2 or 3kg of a different brand!!! 😲 😲

And let me guess, your instructor is probably selling them to you, right? 😉
