Total genius. Honestly, I'm way too far away to actually help out, but you guys have my full moral support!!!! 👍
So, I just checked out the work from that local organization and, honestly, it’s pretty charming. Seriously, props to you guys for having the guts to actually do this. That said—and I say this with love—the film itself doesn't feel much like "cinema." It feels more like a stage play caught on tape. If you want to really pull an audience in, you have to master the art of emotional manipulation—which sounds dark, I know, but that’s what movies do. You need the audience to actually *feel* like they are living through the characters. Right now, the visual language you're using feels a bit... thin. To be blunt, the level of cinematic expression here is hovering around where Lumière or those very early Edison films used to be. You aren't utilizing a , there's hardly any , and you almost completely skip over the of the characters. Those aren't just technicalities; they are the essential tools for building empathy. Your is pretty messy, the editing feels a bit disjointed and non-linear, and the camera stays static way too often. Even the framing doesn't seem to follow the dramatic tension of the scene. This project feels more like theater than film. Look, you clearly have the potential—you've got the gear, the actors, and the drive—so it would be a crime not to push further and make something truly great. My advice? Try to shake off that theatrical mindset first and start thinking like a cinematographer.
What kind of camera were you guys shooting on?

But hey, despite all my nitpicking, I still think the film is super endearing. Huge respect to you for the hustle and the bravery it took to put this out there. I really hope I didn't sting too bad with these critiques; I’m just rooting for you. I want to see you guys crush it.

The "script" (?) goes like this:
For three minutes and change, the only guy on screen is some bald dude in his 60s, doing a little jig in a tight t-shirt and messing around with a hula hoop—all while looking like he’s attending a funeral! 😲 🤣

Clearly, the creators have never heard of the winning formula for a music video; you need hot models and long legs.

It's on Spotify, and the band is Sikter from Boston.

Jaoooooo, it really 🤣 is. Hands down the most cringeworthy video I've ever laid eyes on.
