Brutal arrest, American style in Close to Politics ·
Man, my neighbor's wife was being incredibly rude to me yesterday. I'm half tempted to call the cops and tell them her kid is out there playing with a shotgun just to see if they'll come down and clean up the mess.

Translation: unbelievable. 🤦
The North Wind. It hits you hard. Like a sudden cold front sweeping down from Canada, cutting right through your defenses before you even realize the season has shifted. It’s relentless. No warning, just a sharp, biting chill that demands you pay attention. Dennis Bailey2 says:
Human life. If we really push your logic to its breaking point, why is a head of lettuce worth less than a dog? You could argue it’s because dogs feel pain while lettuce doesn't, but then you have those people who claim plants are sentient too. To me, both arguments are equally ridiculous. Your position is just a simple byproduct of biology: you're closer to a dog than a vegetable, so you naturally struggle to identify with a head of lettuce.

My issue isn't with biological proximity; it's with your inability to actually read what's in front of you.
Look, I never claimed a dog’s life was worth more than a head of lettuce. It’s already a given that every life holds equal value..
The word "every" is absolute. It doesn't leave anything out—not even a head of lettuce.
The fact that I kill animals and eat salad—rather than killing and eating dogs—has nothing to do with the inherent value of their lives. It’s about the ecosystem we live in. As an omnivore, I am structurally forced to kill other creatures just to feed myself. And since I happen to be from America rather than Korea, dogs aren't exactly on the menu.
Killing for food doesn't make my meals any more alive. To those who lack value. From a purely moral standpoint, it’s one thing. But that doesn't change the fact that I have to respect their lives. It means I shouldn't go out of my way to kill, destroy, or torture other living beings—and I certainly shouldn't find any enjoyment in doing so. That is exactly where we land here: we are talking about nothing less than torture, cruelty, and senseless killing. ☕

Look, there’s such a thing as necessary killing—specifically, the kind done strictly for self-preservation. But let’s get one thing straight: NO. Neither philosophy nor this reality proves that a dog's life is somehow worth less than a human's. People kill to stay alive all the time. We hunt for food; we strike to defend ourselves. It’s basic survival. ☕

Carol Diaz said:Let’s talk about human life. If we follow your logic to its natural conclusion, why isn't a head of lettuce worth as much as a dog? You might argue it’s because dogs possess sentience while lettuce does not, but then again, there are plenty of people who insist plants feel pain. To me, both arguments are equally absurd; your stance is simply a byproduct of being biologically closer to a dog than a vegetable, making it naturally difficult for you to identify with a head of lettuce.

That isn't true. Dogs are inherently aggressive animals that survived in the wild by hunting in packs or scavenging carcasses. The fact that certain breeds today don't seem particularly aggressive toward humans is merely because we have selectively bred them just as we breed cattle to meet specific needs. We find ourselves circling back to the reality that they are tools utilized by the human species.

That claim might be accurate, but you can't draw a straight line from that fact to your conclusion. It doesn't work like that. Just because we created these tools doesn't automatically validate your thesis. If anything, the mere fact that they are human inventions means the responsibility lies with us to maintain them and ensure they have what they need to function. ☕

Look, like someone else already pointed out, people are aggressive, dangerous, and fundamentally unpredictable. If we’re operating under the logic that the "threat to human life" is inversely proportional to the "value" assigned to an animal's life, then the human life is clearly at the bottom of the barrel. I mean, think about it—not one single dog is carrying around an atomic bomb. ☕

Yeah, that whole argument about serial killers is honestly revolting. Let’s look at it this way: suppose some psycho attacks your wife, murders your son, and hacks your limbs off. Whose life holds more value—that monster's, or the dog that bit him while he was trying to kill your daughter? Give me a break. If you try to weigh human beings against any other animal and conclude that one group is somehow worth more than the other, then your logic is a total failure. ☕
Carol Diaz said:A true animal🤣

Human life is sacred. Human life holds more value than any animal. The life of a single serial killer outweighs the lives of every dog currently existing on this planet.

There are no moral dilemmas here. Animals are primitive tools and resources utilized by humans to satisfy their own needs—including the needs of lonely individuals seeking emotional companionship. To even attempt to draw a pseudo-nationalist parallel between the hierarchy of human value and our relationship with animals is nothing short of perverse.

Wrong. ☕ Every life holds equal value; every life is equally "sacred." You didn't create it, so you have no right to take it away.

And my comparisons weren't an attempt to invoke Nazism; those ideologies are thousands of years younger than the sentiments I'm referencing—roughly as old as when people used to claim "The life of one serial killer is worth more than all the slaves/Black people/Asian people on this earth."
Thankfully, those eras are behind us. Yours will be too. 👍

So basically, unless someone physically assaults his kids or his family, the guy has nothing to complain about? People can curse at them, insult them, threaten them, and spit on minor children who have absolutely nothing to do with this, and apparently, that doesn't merit a news story.

What are you supposed to do when a tiny little group targets you? It shouldn't matter how small the group is—you'd be devastated. And if you actually try to report it only to have a witness tell you, "I didn't see any attack," how are you supposed to feel?

I'm already sick of this thread, so I'll just leave you with this one final thought:
In America, there are genuine haters and there are animal abusers. Animal abusers are the types of people who wouldn't dream of trying to foster a puppy in a shelter, people who certainly wouldn't bother finding a better home for those dogs than what they could provide themselves, and they definitely aren't the type to donate to other dogs in that shelter. In my opinion, this guy doesn't belong in that category. Other people can call him stupid or careless, sure, but he is not one of the true animal abusers.

That’s your opinion, not ours. ☕ Nobody said there's "nothing to complain about." In fact, nobody in this thread has actually defended the animal control officer's actions—even while a huge crowd tries to absolve a man who sentenced five dogs to a slow, agonizing death by suffocation in a bag just because he "made a mistake." Because he "made a mistake," five tiny creatures—brought into existence solely due to his negligence, too small to even help themselves—were crying and wailing in that bag, dying in absolute agony from lack of oxygen, limbs twitching and paws scratching, and you're telling me that man isn't an abuser? I don't know. If my father had done that and someone asked me, "Is your father an animal abuser?" it would be hard, but I'd have to say, "Yeah, he is."

Imagine if the police picked you up, threw you in a squad car, and at the end of the ride, they opened the door and found you suffocated. "Oh well, we forgot to crack a window... what now!" To the victim, it makes zero difference whether it was murder by intent or murder by negligence.

It would be exactly the same as that woman at the shelter calling the police because of a violation of the Animal Welfare Act, only for the officer to snap back, "Don't screw with me over some damn dogs." ☕ The difference is, what you're describing never actually happened to this man, whereas what I am describing has happened to ME at least 20 times.

I agree, but this is like trying to exonerate someone whose child suffocated in a car just because pedophiles exist. ☕
And you don't perform Domestication at a shelter. You send puppies to a shelter so other people can use taxpayer money to fix the mess an irresponsible owner made. The donation wasn't meant for "other dogs"—volunteers were simply asking for help to cover the basic cost of food for those specific pups.

Goodnight!

Well, if that's how it is, what can I say... if humans had been left to their own devices, we probably would have evolved from cats. At least then we wouldn't look this pathetic, with these floppy ears and no tails. 🤷

Just kidding. I’m done entertaining provocateurs. It's a full moon and I'm dealing with insomnia, but you're too transparent, and frankly, your debating skills are too shallow to be worth the effort. 😢

Edit:
My sincere apologies to the moderators for indulging this trolling. Please just delete this whole mess.
To be honest... I’ve never actually read Emma Bovary. That Frenchman who wrote it just wasn't my style; he spent way too much time being cynical.

I prefer Ernest Hemingway. To borrow a line from Leone II: "Besides, it's my own fault for even bothering to talk to you people."😬

If you consider yourself a decent human being, then fine—I'll gladly accept being an unevolved primate. At least I won't have to feel ashamed of the human race because of someone like you.😍

Oh, one more thing: if a BMW and a Chevrolet Cruze were both sinking, which one would you bother saving?😂

Besides, I'm not here playing trivia games.

I'm not that kind of guy (a Dalmatian).
And just so we're clear, humans didn't create dogs—dogs approached humans first, purely for their own benefit.
You shouldn't break laws; you should fight against things that are broken. No law is handed down from God; humans write them, and humans are naturally prone to making mistakes. Laws can change, too. That won't be the first or last time.

You're comparing apples to oranges here. People and animals aren't the same thing.

I don't really care if I'm "civilized" if a grizzly bear decides to eat me, I guess. 😕
Do you eat bacon and lamb in a "civilized" way?

If I had to choose between 100 dogs and one person, I'd probably save the person.

Thank God if that's the case. Means there might actually be some smart people left in this world. ☕

I don't get it—are you trying to insult me by calling me a hillbilly? Look, I am a country guy, though I don't work livestock, so being insulted for being a farmer actually stings a bit.
But we aren't on the same level, and we never will be. I respect life; you just respect your own backside.

Unfortunately, mistakes have consequences. That's fine; otherwise, people wouldn't learn from them. It seems to me others will be a little more careful next time while their cattle are being driven! 😂 And maybe a few others will think twice.

Don't give me that: the point remains—if you have a dog, take care of it according to the law. A dog, a hamster, a bear, a pig—it doesn't matter. If it's YOURS, it is YOUR concern and YOUR responsibility.
It's unbelievable how nobody here wants to take any responsibility.

I completely agree; the law is terrible. If the minimum penalty for unauthorized breeding and dealing with dogs were $40 $0.00 and 200 hours of community service, and if it were actually enforced, a bottom-feeder like this guy would be reformed in no time.

And you’re comparing things that aren't comparable too—dying in agony versus a bit of annoyance. No one is blaming you for that logic. But humans and animals aren't two separate categories, man. We're primates.😍

That’s a fair question, but it’s irrelevant to the argument. For what it's worth, I don't eat prosciutto or lamb either, though that's also completely beside the point.
I care deeply about being humane. The moment I stop caring whether a bear eats you, or whether five dogs die in agony because some irresponsible idiot failed them, you can go ahead and turn me into bacon. I wouldn't be worth anything else.☕

The choice you would make 🙄 doesn't give any human the right to torture or kill other living creatures against the law, nor does it justify creating those creatures just to cause them pain because someone's ego was bruised and they want nature to pay the price.
If I had to choose between one dog and 100 people who are murderers, rapists, or pedophiles... the dog would have a very good day. ☕ The idea that "human life is more valuable than animal life" only holds water if the human actually acts like a human.

Did you actually bother reading the article, or are you just talking nonsense without any basis in reality?
Some guy spat right in front of the shop where this woman works—not at her, mind you, but in front of her business. People were giving him nasty looks, and even local kids were asking if their dads were animal abusers. Beyond being completely uncivilized, this kind of harassment is exactly what fans of any underdog sports team in a tough neighborhood have to deal with constantly.🙄
It’s absolutely horrific, truly appalling, and honestly indescribable how he barely escaped with his dignity intact!!!
The way I see it, the guy should have acted like a real man. He should have issued a public apology, admitted he messed up, had his dog fixed, and calmly explained to the kids that an accident happened, he was responsible, and he's learned his lesson. A little bit of volunteer work for a local animal shelter—helping out with walks or basic care—probably wouldn't hurt either.
But no, instead, he sent his buddies to go intimidate the animal control officers.🙄

If you don't believe me—I mean, seriously—just go ask some teachers at a local high school if they actually consider a human life to be worth more than an animal's. It's even written right there in our laws, I guess. Human dignity—it’s a big concept, I guess... maybe just something we all kind of take for granted until it isn't there. As for animal dignity—I don't think I've even heard of that being a thing.

The truth is—and I guess this is just my take—that guy and his family are suffering because of these basically helpless animals... since we've been stripping away their natural instincts for centuries now. Maybe it's just how things are.

Thanks for the lesson, though I think you missed a spot. We basically learn this in elementary school—humans only ever domesticated livestock to get something out of them, like meat, milk, or eggs... you know, practical stuff—not just to have them sitting around as decor. To me, pet dogs are just completely unnecessary animals to have cluttering up a house. Not only do they kind of ruin the whole vibe of human comfort, but they also lose those raw instincts that would actually help them survive if things ever got real. Anything artificial is just... distorted, I guess. I tend to value natural things.

What am I even supposed to do about my pet???
That’s some pretty twisted thinking—I guess. Animals should have their own freedom, just like I have mine. If they can't survive on their own, then maybe they shouldn't be living at all.

You just don't seem to get it—that you can't exactly weigh a human life against an animal's, I guess.
Look, it’s just the plain truth—people and animals end up eating each other!

The bottom line here is that a person shouldn't have to suffer because of an animal. To me, that's just not okay.☕

I’m a teacher at a high-end prep school. I hold a doctorate. To be blunt, I don't exactly view rural elementary school teachers as the pinnacle of moral authority. It’s a good thing you didn't send me to work in some tiny town in the middle of nowhere. 🤣 It’s a heavy moral dilemma, plain and simple. You're looking at the death of an innocent animal, paired with making life uncomfortable for some guy who clearly can't handle the consequences of his own actions. It's messy.

You just don't seem to get it—that you can't exactly weigh a human life against an animal's, I guess.
Look, it’s just the plain truth—people and animals end up eating each other!

The bottom line here is that a person shouldn't have to suffer because of an animal. To me, that's just not okay.☕
No, they’re suffering because of their own negligence and sheer lack of responsibility. That’s where your perception is off. They had every right to choose NOT to own dogs and NOT to put themselves in that position in the first place.
Look, I’ve never personally been in a position where I had to get rid of an entire litter of puppies. Want to take a guess as to why? 🤷

You don't need to bother coming out to my neck of the woods—we've already cleared out all the dogs and cats, and honestly, we just slaughter whatever other animals are left so we can actually eat them.🤣

Let me guess. You’re from the coast? Just more typical Appalachian demagoguery. 🤣 Jokes aside, I can't get behind this mountain of nonsense. For whatever reason, people bred these animals to be useful—to guard property, protect the community, provide heat, pull carts, assist in hunting, help with search and rescue, guide the blind, and so on. There's a whole world out there beyond Appalachia. That said, I can certainly agree with one thing: if you feel like a dog, a cat, or a horse is an inconvenience to you, then you're entitled to hold that view. Choosing not to have a pet isn't a lack of empathy. It’s a matter of logistics. People act like if you don't own a dog or a cat, you’re somehow cold or disconnected from nature. That’s nonsense. Owning an animal is a massive commitment of time, money, and mental energy. It’s like buying a house or starting a small business—you don't just "get" one on a whim. You have to consider the overhead. Between the premium kibble, the unexpected vet bills, and the constant upkeep, it becomes a permanent line item in your budget. Then there's the lifestyle constraint. If you want to travel to Chicago for a weekend or take a spontaneous road trip through the Rockies, you can't exactly just leave a creature alone in an apartment. I see people treating pets like accessories, only to realize later they aren't prepared for the reality of the responsibility. I prefer my freedom. I like being able to walk out my front door without checking if a living thing needs something from me first. There is nothing wrong with opting out of that cycle. It’s about knowing your limits and respecting the weight of the commitment..
Look, you don't have the right to violate the Constitution of the United States.
If you don't like it here, then pack your bags and move. 🤷

I disagree. Following that logic would mean we should just let everyone working at the factory gates fend for themselves and starve. They aren't capable of surviving on their own without some level of societal support. ☕ Besides, the factory owner is the one who let them loose. 😍
He just snapped. He actually yelled it out loud: "What do my employees have to do with my business anyway?"

Your logic is incredibly flimsy. What about people with severe cognitive impairments? Are we supposed to just let them roam free without any oversight?

Look, unlike any other creature out there, humans are supposed to be humane—civilized. You clearly haven't reached that level yet. Personally, I take pride in being able to pinpoint the exact line that separates me from your average dog. It’s a distinction you obviously can't make. 😬
When it comes to comparing the "value" of a life, we’re back to square one: it all boils down to perception. To me, my dog—who is a full-fledged member of my family—holds far more inherent value than someone like Josef Fritzl or Charles Manson. A human being's worth isn't some fixed metric; it's based on... Humanity. If a person acts in a way that makes them question their own humanity, they’ve already cast doubt on the very value of their life.

Look, those are some heavy accusations, man. Nobody is making death threats here; people are just making his life a little difficult. He's acting like a jerk? Fine, let him deal with it. What am I supposed to do about it? When I park illegally, I pay the fine. Sometimes I push someone's buttons and they take a wrench to my car. That guy with the wrench is the one committing a crime, but we can't start valuing a car's resale price over a human life. You make your own choices—you live with the consequences. Period.

No, he isn't going to face consequences for the sake of an animal. He's facing them because he broke the law and acted irresponsibly, uncivilized, and inhuman—essentially, his behavior was completely unacceptable to society. I see why you're defending him, though; you two are cut from the same cloth. 😍

And frankly, from what I can see, he hasn't even "suffered" yet.

Edit:
I think your fundamental misunderstanding of my position stems from the idea that I'm against "killing dogs." You're trying to bait some "crazy animal lover" with cheap provocations, but you're missing the mark. I am against breaking the law and refusing to hold individuals accountable. I am also against a public that is too willing to excuse people for their own actions. Under the Constitution of the United States, the law treats a dog much like a car: just as you're responsible for cleaning up the wreckage of an unwanted vehicle, you are responsible for an unwanted animal. As long as you follow the law and aren't making it my problem, you have total freedom...

In my entire life, I haven't seen anyone actually revolt against closing down slaughterhouses.

And you think you know who I am and how much I've helped???😕

Well, look at this. Humans are more important than any animal, so if someone wants to help animals, they shouldn't do it at the expense of people—which is exactly what's happening here.

Just so you know—animals were around long, long before humans ever showed up, and they certainly didn't need us to survive. Any species that couldn't figure out how to look after itself just... died out. It's called natural selection—not that I'm trying to lecture you or anything, I guess.
In the real world, animals don't exist just so we can play caretaker—and I guess humans don't exist to serve them either. It’s honestly a disgrace that human ego has messed with the natural abilities of certain species. So, really... it doesn't matter if we're talking about a Great White or some stunted house pet.☕

Is there even a law to protect those hungry, cheated people just shivering out in the cold in front of the factory?!

As soon as pets start being treated as more important than people—I guess I have to agree that our legal system is even further gone than those dogs. ☕

And here we go again. I’m out here calling them out on the global stage for being loud, aggressive, and frankly, just plain obnoxious. They were throwing stones at fishermen and even doused some kids dressed in cow-print outfits just to make a point about slaughtering cattle. Clearly, we're the bad guys here. I'll be sure to tell them they're more than welcome to come visit your neck of the woods... 😍

Why? 🤷 Does this logic still hold up? Is it always "white men matter more than...", "Americans matter more than...", or "heterosexuals matter more than..."? Where do we draw the line? Is a surgeon inherently worth more than a newborn baby? A local from the Midwest? Exactly where is that boundary where one life becomes more sacred than another? Is a serial killer truly more valuable than a search-and-rescue dog digging survivors out of earthquake rubble? Ah, those delicious little moral dilemmas... ☕
Cut the demagoguery. This isn't some American anthem.

Is there even a law to protect those hungry, cheated people just shivering out in the cold in front of the factory?!

As soon as pets start being treated as more important than people—I guess I have to agree that our legal system is even further gone than those dogs. ☕

How exactly does that work? At the expense of real people.Let’s be clear about what happened here. We are talking about a man who ran an irresponsible backyard breeding operation and tried to dump the entire burden onto you. I know it might not look that way on the surface, but think about it. The money you pay in taxes goes toward funding resources like food for animals just like these. In the end, his little scheme failed—not because of any grand plan, but because his dogs ended up dead. They needed to breathe, for God's sake, and he simply forgot they did.
So, what now? He screwed up. Fine. Let's just forgive him and all chip in a few thousand bucks in a couple of months once he actually delivers. Next. Dump it in a shelter and let those idiots from the network of associations deal with it.
Once they fix one thing, they’ll just roll out the next mandate. Then it's a domino effect—the neighbor follows suit, then the guy next door, and before you know it, we're all working ourselves to death like idiots just to foot the bill for their dog disposal fees.
It’s not even about some grand debate over humanity toward dogs right now. It’s simpler than that. We're talking about preventing a total free-for-all where animals tear each other apart, leaving carcasses scattered everywhere. If we actually followed standard US sanitary protocols—you know, to ensure you don't catch some nasty disease from rotting remains because your human ego makes you think you're invincible—it would cost a fortune. That's the bottom line.
Well, I’m not footing the bill.

Let me give you a little lesson instead: domesticated animals exist ONLY and EXCLUSIVELY because of human intervention. Their ecological niches DO NOT EXIST, and not a single one of those animals WOULD HAVE SURVIVED without human involvement. They CANNOT survive on their own in the wild because they were created through a process called ARTIFICIAL SELECTION. For example, dairy cows were bred specifically for milking, and they actually SUFFER from INFLAMMATION if they aren't milked daily. There's your "education." This is basic stuff taught in elementary school.

Domesticated animals don't belong to the true natural world. Since human egoism has broken something, it leaves it to human responsibility to fix what was created. Look, just as you—as a responsible member of society—have to take care of yourself, your family, your car, your house, your trash, and clean up your own crap, you also have to take care of your animal. It shouldn't matter if it's a shark or some retarded dog. If you own a dog, you pick up its shit and you handle its puppies, because you'll be the one answering for it if I step in its mess or if its pups get in my way. Is that clear? Crystal. If you don't like it, there's a simple solution: don't own a dog.
Would you tolerate that guy dumping his wrecked car in your driveway? Or would you expect some non-profit organization to clean it up using your tax dollars and pay for the hauling and recycling? No? Well, for God's sake, why would you tolerate him dumping his litter of puppies in your yard? Or expect that your tax money should fund an association to deal with those pups?
I know the answer: because you think everything will just work itself out and nobody will care.
Fine, but where does a lunatic leave the carcasses? By the side of the road? Tossed in the river? Where are kids going to catch diseases? Where will flies from dead dogs end up—on people's tables and food? How shortsighted can you be!?

Yes, honey, there is—it’s just enforced by the exact same people who pushed through those animal protection laws while puppies were literally dying in bags. They just make sure to "protect" themselves enough so they don't accidentally end up doing their actual jobs. ☕
I could be rude and suggest that these workers shouldn't even need anything from the factory—in a pure, natural world they’d just be running through fields hunting and gathering food, free from human ego trips like money, housing, TVs, or clothes... though, who knows, maybe the factory owners share more of your worldview.

Laws are either enforced or they aren't. As long as certain people are treated as more equal than others under the law, we're stuck, my friend. It's sad you can't see that.
And at the core of this whole thing, dogs aren't more important than people.
It comes down to social responsibility—specifically, the responsibility to take care of your own dog's puppies at your own expense and according to the law, instead of dumping them on society. And society is made of people.

So, why is one little dog supposedly worth more than a cow???
Does it somehow have a greater right to live?
I mean, if you dropped a person and a dog on a deserted island with zero food, once starvation really kicks in, the dog would probably eat the person—but a cow wouldn't.

Look, we still have plenty of people out there who are hungry, broke, freezing, and homeless. They're the ones who actually need our help!

To be perfectly clear, what you've written here is simply untrue.

This is the classic playbook used by people who don't actually care about helping anyone—they only care about themselves. It’s a pattern of deflection. When you support animal rescues, they ask, "Why aren't you helping people instead?" When you help addicts, they claim, "Why waste resources on that loser instead of someone deserving?" If you support people living with HIV, they pivot to, "Why help those degenerates when there are honest people in need?" And if you donate to hungry kids in Africa, they whine, "Why look abroad when we have plenty of poverty right here in the States?" Strip away the moral posturing and the truth is much uglier. What they’re really saying is: "Stop spending your money on them and give it to me."

Get this through your head: helping anyone is a noble act. It doesn't matter if that person is just one individual or an entire planet. Whether someone decides to dedicate their life like Mother Teresa, fight for a local neighborhood playground, or just toss a crust of bread to a stray cat—that’s their call to make. Every person has the right to spend their time, resources, and heart however they see fit; we don't all have to follow your directives. Any one of those acts is a million times more dignified than your petty bitterness and obvious hatred for everything living and breathing.

Oh, really? They haven't? 🤔 Are you suggesting that the bitch belonging to this "responsible gentleman"—who so humbly mismanaged her—didn't produce puppies thanks to his sheer irresponsibility, negligence, and lack of care? Did the puppies just spontaneously manifest in his lap? Did his bitch just happen to get pregnant despite him being such a diligent owner? Are you trying to say someone else is responsible for these puppies instead of him? Are you claiming dogs, as a species, exist for some other reason rather than because humans bred, raised, and kept them for themselves? 🤷 Please. We are talking about a domestic dog here, not a Great White Shark. A Great White Shark exists simply because it exists. I could argue this is more like a litter of Great White pups that just happened to end up in this guy's possession. But a domestic dog breeds exclusively when we allow it, specifically because we choose to care for them, and if we don't want that to happen, then for heaven's sake, we should ensure it DOESN'T happen. ☕

Comparing a child to a dog is disgusting, I agree, but the fact remains: owning an animal carries specific responsibilities. This includes the owner's duty to manage their pet or prevent its offspring from being born. It isn't rocket science; it's simple:
a) spay or neuter the dog,
b) isolate the dog during heat cycles,
c) don't own a dog at all, if you aren't willing to deal with its offspring or commit to options A or B.
Simple enough, right?

To those commenting on the bag: there are valid federal and state regulations regarding the transport of animals, including puppies. There are also standardized crates designed for safe, risk-free transport that are mandated by law.

This isn't a question of whether the puppies are cute or not. The gentleman broke the law, and he needs to answer for it. A heavy fine and a few weeks of forced community service—ideally at a local animal shelter where he can clean up after the sick dogs of other "responsible" owners just like him—would be the ideal punishment. Maybe our "modest gentleman" would actually think twice about why all this mess exists, which is funded by taxpayer dollars: his mess is caused by the dogs produced by irresponsible owners like him.

Everyone loves to attack non-profits, but it's easy to throw stones at others. What you don't realize is that the problem is YOURS. If we didn't have irresponsible gentlemen like the one described here, there wouldn't be abandoned animals, there wouldn't be shelters, and there wouldn't be money being spent on them. If individuals took responsibility for their actions—meaning, if they properly controlled their pets' breeding—millions of dollars—about $15 million just in a city like Chicago—could be spent on building playgrounds, daycares, and schools... instead of, well, someone has to clean up dog crap.

When it comes to those overzealous animal control officers, they belong in court just as much as this guy's buddies do. Attacking people isn't the solution. The real way forward is education and forcing the government agencies to actually do their jobs. Look, I get why the rescuers are frustrated, but I am NOT justifying their behavior.

The only takeaway here is that our legal system is even more dead than those dogs were. ☕

And as for what the kids are saying to his children... honestly, kids will be kids. They always seem to hit the nail right on the head.
vividridge9 said:I honestly don't get these animal rights activists, or whatever you want to call them. On one hand, they’re all about protecting these precious little creatures and blaming humanity for every single thing that goes wrong in the animal kingdom. But then, at the exact same time, they turn around and absolutely tear people and their families to shreds. I mean, can anyone actually claim to love animals if they genuinely despise human beings? Just because someone accidentally hits a kid with their car or gets into a heated altercation, that doesn't give anyone the right to harass their entire family. And claiming that an accidental choking incident involving a puppy justifies a full-blown smear campaign against a person? That's just wild. If you ask me, these "animal lovers" mostly just love themselves—they're just using animals as a convenient shield to vent all their own deep-seated frustrations on others.

You aren't entirely wrong.

However, I see the root cause of this phenomenon as nothing more than a total failure to enforce existing laws, which is especially glaring when it comes to animal protection.

If we live in a world where someone can run over a kid or beat a man to death and walk away completely unpunished—only to have a cop tell you "don't screw with me" when you try to report it—then yeah, I believe people will resort to harassing those individuals and their families. 🤷
It’s excessive, sure, but if we actually treated our politicians with this much intensity, maybe our country wouldn't be such a mess. 😁

Jokes aside, the guy could have just fixed the dog or decided not to own one in the first place to avoid this entire circus. Once the litter arrived, he did what many others do—tried to dump his negligence onto everyone else. He screwed up, and now he's facing the consequences, which happen to be "uncomfortable."

He broke the law. He transported animals improperly. The police aren't doing their jobs, yet here we are—passionate citizens stepping up. 🤷 Poor guy, I feel for him. Have we really become so soft that we think people shouldn't face the fallout of their own (mis)deeds? 🤷 Yes, posting his personal info on Facebook is essentially calling for a mob, but if he hadn't killed five living beings—even through pure negligence—there wouldn't be a reason to expose him. Those poor animals died in agony in a bag at the bottom of a car; he sat there listening to them cry and struggle, driving along calmly, thinking about how to offload the results of his laziness at someone else's expense. What a saint.

Granted, the reaction is extreme, but that’s only because the letter of the law won't be applied to this "gentleman"—meaning he won't be prosecuted or penalized under the ZozŽ. 🤷 People are angry. I don't support harassment, but asking a child, "Does your father abuse animals?" is a perfectly legitimate question. I bet most of you were never asked that in school—care to guess why? 🤷

It's easy to mock the shelter "employees," but let's get one thing straight: they aren't employees, they're volunteers working for free. Look at it this way—animal shelters and rescues in the US are funded by local government, which means THEY ARE FUNDED BY YOUR TAX DOLLARS. When some idiot dumps a bunch of puppies on a shelter, he is actually dumping them on YOU. Yeah, the money that should be going toward fixing highways, building preschools, or renovating parks... it's being eaten up by the puppies of irresponsible owners who show up with a new bag of trouble every few months. You want to foot that bill? Not me. 👎

I know plenty of people who don't like animals, and they solve that problem very simply: they don't own any. ☕

ajduk, you're technically right, but the fact that the person lives in England doesn't mean they're guilty, nor does it mean they support any specific kind of animal exploitation. ☕

Let's take this one step at a time.

I don't really know much about California. I’ll take your word for it that it's like that. As for Washington, D.C., honestly, it doesn't surprise me one bit. I grew up in a tiny town where social circles work vertically rather than horizontally. In a place like that, you find a group of maybe 500 people, and you can actually connect with anyone regardless of their age. If you try to limit yourself to a specific age bracket, you'll end up grabbing a drink with maybe two or three people at most.

The reality in America is that having a simple, sincere conversation with someone of the opposite sex almost instantly triggers unwanted comments. It’s nothing more than pure social primitivism. Honestly, I think it's toxic when a partner reacts aggressively to those kinds of remarks; if they aren't suffering from some kind of psychological issue, then you're looking at a relationship built on incredibly shaky foundations.

Rewrite your post without using slang. 🙄 😂 Oh, I’ll give you an answer that’ll be hard to argue with. ☕ Seriously, why did you go with "Californians" instead of using the slang? It’s just local flavor. 🤷

I’m still of the opinion that:
If everything he’s claiming is actually true, then his girlfriend is pathologically jealous.
What you’re describing isn't "emotional sensitivity." It's just someone who is incredibly unstable and lacks any sense of self-confidence.

If a guy spends years being chased by women only to end up in a relationship with someone younger just because he thinks that’s how the script is supposed to run, something is fundamentally broken. It doesn't add up. 🤷

It honestly baffles me... or maybe it just baffles everyone else, but why does it cause such a stir whenever someone in their mid-30s hangs out with someone in their mid-70s?

I run into this constantly—whether I'm at the office, volunteering with local nonprofits, or even just dealing with family dynamics...🤷

The person I am in a happy relationship with is the most beautiful and attractive human being in the world to me. Nothing else on this planet can compare. Not Hollywood heartthrobs, not supermodels, not gods, nothing.
Maybe when I'm 30 or 40, I'll get worked up over some wannabe TV star or some random poser in town. If I want to pretend I haven't reached emotional maturity yet, fine. That's just my late puberty kicking in.

A woman isn't afraid of looking different during pregnancy because she views herself as attractive—in fact, she thinks she looks beautiful. She's afraid because he is unreliable. He's shallow, stupid, and obsessed with physical details. To guys like that, a 26-inch waist is always more attractive than a 49-inch waist, or if it isn't subjective, it's because that's what morons on TV promote.

I expect reciprocity in a relationship. If he is my best, most beautiful, most beloved, and most handsome person, then I should be at least that much to him, if not more. It’s that simple.
Whether he is insecure or just sensitive? I don't care one bit. ☕
Do you get what I'm saying now?

No. I just don't get it. Seriously. I’ve spent years trying to wrap my head around people who spout the same nonsense you’re writing right now, but it’s just not happening. It doesn't click.

At thirty, I find a certain male physique just as striking as it was when I was fifteen. And when I say that, I mean it’s genuinely beautiful—not some "well, our marriage is over" kind of observation. You can look at a well-built man, or woman, the same way you’d admire a piece of fine art. Perhaps part of it is because I’m pretty stubborn about my gym routine; I actually understand the grit required to build a body like that. I appreciate the discipline and the sweat behind the results, rather than just accepting the "I was born this way" excuse.
I’ve never quite grasped this overreaction you're describing. It just doesn't add up to me.
I honestly cannot wrap my head around the logic here. Why on earth would anyone kick me out of their house just because I let slip, "Damn, he's hot"? It’s an absurd reaction.

I still say that your whole attitude just reeks of insecurity—both in yourself and in your relationship.
Look, if my guy dropped me in a room filled with fifty men who were all objectively more attractive than him, I still wouldn't cheat. It’s that simple. I can't exactly use my emotions to magically alter the objective reality that those guys are better looking. Facts are facts.
I couldn't imagine being in a relationship with someone so deeply insecure that they’d threaten to kick me out of the apartment just because I happen to mention an attractive guy in his 60s who’s actually in great shape. It's pathetic. I know people who are older than that and still more fit than most twenty-somethings. 6.2 miles They’re over 65, so if I tell him, "Hey, you're holding up pretty well for your age," what am I supposed to expect? Nothing. The guy hasn't said a single word to me in two weeks. Just total silence.
Honestly, they shouldn't even bother kicking me out. If I were dealing with an idiot like that, I’d have walked away on my own long ago.

I wouldn't even consider dating a guy if I suspected he was such a pig that he’d walk out on me just because I gained—or lost—a few pounds.

I honestly don't get this mindset—this whole "he's the only one I see" attitude. What, are we just ignoring everything else? Are telephone poles invisible now, or are you just burying your head in the dirt? 🤷 It just doesn't sit right with me. I find it completely unnatural for a healthy, grown woman who is sexually active to simply fail to notice attractive men. 🤷 They’d be on the TV, or they'd be sitting right there in the office. 🤷
That's just not going to happen. To execute. That’s a completely different conversation. We're talking about morality here—the simple fact that they just don't want to. Admit it. That’s a different issue entirely, but the first point strikes me as nothing more than some kind of narrow-minded obsession. 🤷

If a guy tells me he’d "steal her," I’m taking that as a joke—assuming that’s actually what he meant. It shouldn't be interpreted as some raw, primal urge to just devour someone. That said, I’ve had enough experience to know that sometimes a comment like that is actually a subtle invitation for a threesome. 😍 A trio where two of them are women? Just isn't my thing. 😉)

I honestly don't get it. When it comes to someone who actually means that much to you, there’s no distinction between being "sensitive" and being "insecure." To me, they aren't even different categories. I can find sensitive people interesting—even a bit charming—but I won't go anywhere near an insecure person. They’re just irritating. 🤷Especially with that jealousy they show toward innocent comments.

Regarding the original post... I find his comment perfectly normal; honestly, I hear stuff like that all the time. 🤷 The only tragic part is how UNUSUAL it is in our society for someone to actually start caring about their body and health later in life, but that’s a conversation for a different white paper... 🤷

Adam Miller46 said:No. By emotional, I mean that I simply cannot imagine being with anyone else besides my partner. Therefore, I expect him to feel exactly the same way about me.
☕

Based on what you described in your previous post, that doesn't sound like the case. 🤷

There is a massive difference between actually cheating—or even just contemplating it—and simply being dissatisfied with your partner. There’s also a world of difference between that and saying, "God, Vin Diesel has suchlyyyy INCREDIBLE lats, damn, he's built!" or "Wow, look at those legs on that girl!"
To me, a woman worrying that she'll gain weight during pregnancy and lose her attractiveness sounds more like a borderline pathological issue than being an "emotional person." And frankly, that person is clearly in a terrible relationship if they're actually doubting their partner will ditch them—and abandon his commitment to his own child—just because she put on five pounds. 😲

If my boyfriend lost his mind after a comment like that about Vin Diesel, thinking I was going to dump him or cheat on him with some beefy guy just because he's a skinny twig who doesn't even know where his latissimus dorsi is, then *he* would be the "insecure person," not some "sensitive type."

Some of us expect a certain level of normalcy in a relationship. We shouldn't have to constantly walk on eggshells or worry that sneezing at the wrong moment will make our partner think we're paving the way for an affair... 🤷

Adam Miller46 said:Wait, if the meeting included people aged 35 to 70, how old are you exactly?
P.S. Honestly, you sound like a total immature jerk. What business do you have commenting to your girlfriend about which woman looks good or who you would flirt with? She isn't some idiot friend you grab a beer with at a pub🙄
or whatever. What could possibly fascinate you so much about some random old lady that you'd hold onto that information all the way home and then bring it into the house?

Simply put, men who focus too heavily on physical appearance (especially as they reach a certain maturity) are shallow people, and they often possess many other traits linked to that vanity.
Thinking: "I'd go for anyone from 16 to 66, as long as they look good."

That is how they think. Total idiots. ☕
I don't know any emotionally stable woman who would find that acceptable.
A woman might think: "How obsessed with looks is he? If I ever get pregnant😲, gain weight, or change physically, I bet he'll just think—'ugh, she's unattractive or below average'🙂>👎"...and you wonder if he might even cheat on you later.🤷"

It makes you look like a complete degenerate.
If a guy told me he wanted to flirt with someone, I would kick him out of the house immediately...
Quite simply, it is only natural for sensitive people to feel that their partner is the most beautiful and desirable person in the world. Realizing that he views things so differently causes, at the very least, a bit of hurt, if not outright fury...

By "sensitive," do you really just mean "insecure"? 🤔

Brian Morris7 said:Hmm, look—while I totally believe their intentions are good, I can't help but feel like this is its own kind of syndrome. It's that classic: "Look at what I made, you have to try it since I worked so hard on it", which often hides a deeper subtext like: "Please acknowledge how much effort I put in for you" (kind of a guilt-trip pattern disguised as a caring one)

I think I'm drawing that from the inevitable tension that follows eating—that awkward moment where you have to decide if the food was actually good or delicious.

I wouldn't bet on it.

The people in my life do this even when it's just a box of Oreos they picked up at Target.

Men tend to offer alcohol, and if you turn it down—assuming you're a man—it's taken as a direct insult. Fortunately, being a woman keeps me from having to deal with daily drunkenness. 👎

One person isn't going to move the needle, sure. But that single drop is still part of the ocean. If everyone shared your mindset, there wouldn't even be an ocean to begin with.😉

Anyway, if I ever decide to start a revolution, don't expect me to call you. 😉
